Text Me Never

Rate this book
One wrong number. One unexpected connection. One rivalry that's about to change everything.

Text Me Never is a witty, emotionally charged enemies-to-lovers rom-com about two high-powered rivals brought together by a drunken mistext, a high-stakes resort competition, and a whole lot of sexual tension.

He meant to text his ex.

She was not his ex.

But she might just be his downfall.

After catching his girlfriend in the ultimate betrayal, Nolan Rhodes does what any emotionally wrecked, slightly unhinged man would do—he deletes her number, then later, when the truth really sets in (along with the alcohol), he texts her a scathing goodbye.

Or at least, he thinks he does.

Turns out, he's off by one digit.

The stranger who responds?

She's quick-witted, razor-sharp, and far too tempting for a guy trying to avoid more heartbreak.

Rorie Adams does not have time for mystery men with boundary issues and broken hearts.

She's dealing with her own grief and on the verge of the biggest pitch of her career, and nothing—not even a flirty wrong number—can afford to get in the way.

But late-night messages become a habit.

Sarcasm turns into something softer.

And without ever meeting, they start to fall.

There's just one

They already know each other.

In real life, they're cutthroat rivals headed to the same luxurious island resort to land the same client.

But the second they lock eyes, the slow burn hits fast.

Now it’s fake names, stolen glances, and one unforgettable moment in a bathroom that neither of them is willing to talk about—but both of them can’t stop remembering.

He’s the man she’s sworn to outshine.

She’s the woman he can’t stop wanting.

And when the truth finally comes out?

Let’s just say… losing the client won’t be the worst thing that happens.

Duet narration - Rachel Dane & E. Montoya
Holy moly! These two are absolutely amazing! I follow Rachel on TikTok and have had this book on my TBL for a bit and now I don’t know why I waited so long. And holy moly E. Montoya was fabulous. The sexy chuckle 🥵🔥

Nolan and Rorie are rivals in the PR business competing for account via rival companies.

Nolan finds his girlfriend of a year cheating on him and gets drunk with his best friend ending the night with an epic goodbye text but accidentally sending it to the wrong number. Starting an amazing line of witty and fun texts with a stranger.
Did I forget to mention that Nolan is built like a model. Sharp jaw line and defined muscles for days?!? With a dirty mouth and fabulous appendage to go with his cocky attitude.

Rorie is a strong FMC she’s snarky and sassy but vulnerable as she feels alone not fitting into the world well. She has two best friends and coworkers Jeremy her gay bff (where can I find me one of these?) and Maya. The relationship between these friends is so fun and I want that in my life so badly. Rorie is dealing with grief of loosing her parents and a jerk ex boyfriend who left her when she was at her lowest point. So texting with a stranger who makes her forget her problems and brings smiles to her face is just what she needs.

The great banter between these characters had me smiling and laughing. The sexual tension is palpable and oh so yummy. When they finally give into their desires it’s like fireworks.

Overall, this book is fun, flirty, spicy and full of heart. ❤️

I already loved the story but Rachel Dane and E.
Montoya brought all those beautiful characters to life and the right choice! This is my first time hearing E. Montoya, his was voice was enjoyable and sexy as Nolan, fun when doing Jeremy and typical sleazy for Jackson. Rachel, oh Rachel... I am so proud for your growth. I can hear it with each next book you narrate. Rachel knows emotion and emphasizes that with each character and the brings it all forward to make the listener feel it all. I cried with each crack in her voice, the tight pained whisper and laughed with the friends. The accents are fun, the nasal voices make me laugh and she has one voice I still think sounds like a Hollywood actress.

I loved this book! The story, the main characters, the supporting cast, the banter, the humor, the love—it all worked so well. The interactions between Nolan and Rorie, both over text and in person, were such a joy to read. I especially appreciated their self-awareness and the way they owned their mistakes and accepted accountability. I’m so glad they got their HEA!

I loved the relationships with their friends as well. They were just what we all hope for in terms of unwavering support, brutal honesty, and absolute fun!

Rachel Dane and E. Montoya did an incredible job with the narration. They brought the story to life with pacing that felt natural and voices that were expressive and engaging. Truly outstanding!

It feels surreal to be here, writing this. When I first started Text Me Never, I had no idea if anyone would care about a stubborn, sarcastic man texting the wrong number or the fierce, grieving woman who answered. I just knew I had to tell their story.

And now… you’ve listened. You’ve left reviews. You’ve messaged me about laughing in your car, crying in your kitchen, or staying up far too late because you couldn’t stop hitting play. You’ve let Rorie and Nolan into your hearts—and in doing so, you’ve given me something I never imagined possible.

I’m overwhelmed with gratitude. You've taken the time to share every single word—it means the world. Truly. For an indie author, this isn’t just about numbers. It’s about connection. It’s about knowing these messy, flawed characters made you feel something, because that’s all I ever hoped for when I sat down with a blinking cursor and a dream.

This audiobook isn’t just a milestone for me—it’s proof that stories can bring strangers together, that broken hearts can find laughter again, and that sometimes, the family you never expected shows up in the form of readers who believe in you.

So thank you. Thank you for being here. Thank you for letting my words into your life. Thank you for giving me the honor of calling myself an author. Because of you, this dream isn’t just mine anymore—it’s ours.

With my whole heart and soul,
Cedar James

Book Review: I was so excited when this book was released on audio. I have listened to 130+ audiobooks so far this year and the banter in this book is unmatched. I am hooked on Cedar James and her talent for writing. It's rare for a book to make me laugh the entire way through and this one did just that!

Rorie and Nolan are enemies competing for the same client's attention. To Rorie, getting the deal means something far more personal. It's a representation of her self-worth; a way to try and overcome grief and past failures. Nolan is pressured to get the deal to keep his cutthroat firm in the top spot and to also stay distracted from recent heartbreak. What could go wrong with two enemies fighting their lust towards one another? Maybe add in a texting debacle that gets them emotionally connected far deeper than either of them expected.

Narration: Rachel Dane brought Rorie's sarcastic and fierce personality to life. Her delivery was hysterical and had me laughing non stop. E. Montoya brought the cockiness needed for Nolan but also gave us the softer side showcasing the insecurities that the character faced. This narration is done in DUET and these narrators DELIVERED!
