What inspires her? How does she decide who survives? How does she want to die? But she never expected someone to take that last one so seriously.

T M Lunn is originally from the Northeast of England and is obsessed with everything literary. She likes to write about the thoughts that occur in everyday life that often spiral out of control into something a bit darker. You can find her on Instagram, where she is a huge supporter of fellow indie authors and shares her work in progress: @tmlunnauthor
Another great short story from T M Lunn! Having recently read her collection of short stories, which were amazing, this is worth all the praise once again! A great original short-story concept that definitely had me gripped from start to end!
I think this is definitely one to go into blind! Reading the blurb is okay, but I can't state a lot of the plot because I'll end up giving something away! But we follow Liv during one of her many days as a writer, and then we have flashback POVs from other characters! But once again, with a story from this upcoming collection, expect the unexpected!
I loved the ending and how the goings on in the story kind of tied together! This definitely felt way longer of a story than it actually was, which, in this case, is most definitely a good thing! This could easily be a full novel, even a film! But when regarding it in the context of other short stories in the same vain, it does work incredibly well!
I absolutely loved this short thriller. It's difficult to say anything about the plot without giving too much away, but this is yet another clever plot twist story from the 'Fight like final girls' series.
The Final Chapter is about a thriller writer who discovers, let's say 'something', about her characters - a bunch of final girls who have experienced traumatic events. 👀
That's pretty much all I can say without this review becoming nothing but a spoiler so let's move away from the plot...
This was the first I’ve read by T.M. Lunn and it won’t be the last. I was hooked from the first page and flew through it despite being a slow reader.
The pacing is perfect and the plot is fantastically executed.
Everything felt clever, carefully thought out, and the writing style kept me completely engaged.
I only wish it were a full length novel.
I’d happily read more from this author. Looking forward to seeing what T.M. Lunn writes next!
Thank you for the arc. The Final Chapter is part of the Fight Like Final Girls collection of standalone Thriller and Horror short stories and novellas written by multiple authors. Out 3rd October.
'A fight like final girls' is a set of short stories where a group of authors have each taken their own spin on this theme, and the difference between the stories (I was lucky to be able to read three in advance!) was amazing! Each brought something new to the theme, and I was blown away by how different they were, but all deliciously creepy they all were in their own rights! Definately the kind of popcorn read that you want to sit down with when it hits October "horror-slasher" season!
This one - the final chapter - was such sheer perfection. Featuring a writer of thriller stories, it all takes a twisty turn when people start questioning where she gets her inspiration from. The ending was poetic, emotive and it just blows my mind away how authors can wrap a whole story in a short little package (under 80 pages). It was a perfect bed time read, when I didn't have the energy for a whole novel but wanted my spooky fix.
I've read three out of the collection as arc reads, and I'm going to have to get the whole book now, because the three I had were all so different but so intriguing - I need to have more!
Fight Like Final Girls is a collection of seven separate short stories written by different authors. When I heard about this project, I jumped at the chance to be an ARC reader. I was born and raised on horror films where final girls reigned supreme. I was also keen to read yet another short story by the hugely talented T M Lunn. And this nasty little tale didn't disappoint. It's a supremely clever story that subverts the classic final girl trope. The main character is an author attending one of her book signings. But nothing is as it seems. To go into any more detail would ruin the puzzle that Lunn masterfully weaves, but rest assured it's beautifully written and wholly unexpected. Buy it now!
Such a fun short story! A lot happens but the pacing was brilliant and the ending was very much satisfying!! I won’t say too much but this one is for the thriller girlies who love a final girl (or two or three!)
The story was alright. Not bad, not great. The writing was good but the main character lacked personality and the twist wasn't anything new or spectacular. I believe this story would have been much better if it had been longer, because the idea is interesting even if it isn't an original one, and with more depth and some hints leading you into the wrong direction it could have been great, but on such short pages it was just a bit too predictable and the ending felt rushed.
Not a bad read, though. If you want something quick and easy to catch up on your goodreads goal, this one is perfect.
I received a complimentary copy of this book for review purposes. All opinions are my own.
A fast paced, exciting short that packs a punch and fierce women you can’t help but root for!
I loved the premise of this story and found the twist to be something unique that I was not expecting WHATSOEVER. There’s a few different characters in this short story but they all stood out uniquely and Lunn has a way of introducing complex characters that is easy to follow and has you rooting for, or hating them from the get go.
If you love your thrillers with a side of feminine rage and revenge, this one is definitely for you this spooky season.
I had a chance to be an ARC reader for the Fight Like a Final Girl Collection. I'm so grateful for my chance! Absolutely loved it!
The Final Chapter by T.M. Lunn was a fantastic read. It may be short, but it was gripping from the start. I’ll admit, in the beginning I felt a little confused to who all the characters were, but as the story unfolded everything started to click into place. A great addition to the series and one I can definitely recommend!
This was a great short thriller. I loved the twist in it and thought the plot was great. For such a short book it really did pack a punch in a good way. This was my favorite of the fight like final girls books. I thought the authors take on the story was the best and most creative. I am definitely going to check out this authors other books now and highly recommend this read to others.
For a short story, this one packed a punch! It was so beautifully written, I almost forgot it was a thriller! I raced through it and loved the premise behind the story. This could easily be expanded into a full novel! Loved it.
Shew wee what a quick, page-turning ride this short story turned out to be!! Don’t want to write too much about it and give away anything. Go in blind, enjoy the ride of “The Final Chapter”! Thank you to the author for a copy of the ARC for my honest review.
I was on pins ad needles reading this one, my anxiety was ramped up! I loved reading each individual story then having them all tied together. This was was really amazing! An author writing stories, posing as the real author is in for a very big surprise in this one! Loved it!
Deliciously diabolical and brilliantly executed. This is my first ARC read for the final girls series, and it was excellent! I always enjoy reading TM Lunn’s work, and how much she can pack into the medium of a novella. Bravo!!
*ARC Review* This short story had me gripped from the beginning. The characters, the multi POV that lent so well to the story, and the original concept. A 5 star read for sure.
Was an awesome read. Love when the final girl trope turns around a bit. The end really got me on this one. If you’re on the fence. Please. Give this one a go.
Thank you to the authors of these stories for the eARCs, these opinions are my own. Fight Like Final Girls is an anthology about final girls made up of seven stories. I was able to get advanced copies of three of the stories. The first is Shattered Girls Anonymous by M. A. Green. Cordelia attends a support group for final girls. She’s been attending ever since that night eight years ago when she first became a final girl. They all come for support and because they are the only ones that know what they are going through. It’s been months since Cordelia has told the story of how her and her friends rented a cabin and she was the only one to leave it. But Cordelia’s learn to change and adjust her story. So what really happened all those years ago? The second story was Nostalgia by Kay Elem. Sawyer and Claire are attending their ten year high school reunion and end up at an after party. The two don’t get along but they have seen each other in years. Then someone ends up dead. Soon they realize someone is hunting them. Can they survive? The third is The Final Chapter by TM Lunn. Liv is a writer of horror stories, specifically stories in which there is a final girl. Things are good that is until Graham wants to go public with things. It would ruin everything she has going for her. To make it worse, at a book signing, she’s accosted by a female reader who is not happy with her work. And when Liv finds herself a target she’ll soon learn there may be more behind the books she’s famous for. Are the final girls real? I can’t wait to check out the other four books! Each story is quick, entertaining, and thrilling! Highly recommend the Fight Like Final Girls anthology for those who like there slashers quick but full of tension!
