Consumed: A clean, standalone sweet romance, a sequel to "Rescuing a Damaged Rockstar".
Brinley Woods-Davidson sat in her studio, watching the morning light. Her husband, rockstar Gray Davidson, was touring Europe for a year. She was left behind with her service dog, Brodie, who was restlessly circling the room. Brodie was meant to help her get over the death of her twin sister. But she stayed at home, rarely walking him or exercising him in any way. His fur was knotted and he tripped over his paws. Brinley’s paintings hung on the wall, the latest self-portrait showing paint bleeding from her eyes. She had another with her mouth sewn shut, and one with no face. Brodie startled and when nothing happened, fell asleep again. (Sounds like Gray should have taken both of them with him rather than trust them to be alone.) Her phone buzzed and she scrolled through Instagram where she saw a picture of Gray with his arm around a blonde girl grinning up at him. Brodie sensed her mood shift and whined expecting an outing to the park that never came. Instead she pulled up another canvas and just stared at it. Is Gray actually cheating on her? Is she just imagining this scenario based on an uncaptioned picture? And is it enough to end their marriage?
This was a good basic story. I read the first book thinking in this one he grew a backbone. Sadly no. Also it implies he was doing things on tour she had to forgive him for but no idea what it was. I'm also confused about her job in the first book she was an accountant and in this one she was an artist. Another problem was how it would go from her view to his and the conversations were not the same. The stalker showing up in the end was weird as he pretty much laid it on the line to her earlier so for her to show up then just didn't make sense. The first part of book one about her job was boring so I skimmed through it till she met the rockstar. It was unusual to see hardly any of his band around even on tour. They are barely there. Also I'm confused as to how much time has passed as he was 22 in the first book and jumped to 28 and yet his mother implies she had to put up with his wife for three years. I've read this in other books and I would think this would be keep track for accuracy and not a guess.
I read both books in this study of two young people, before and after marriage. This second story portrays two successful young people, separated by their career paths, and how easily they fell victim to loneliness, the need for emotional support, and the desire for more meaningful and effective communication. It also depicts how easily one can become a victim of one's imagination and another a victim of one's physical urges. The author's description of the pain of both parties and their drive to save their broken relationship is not only believable but also raw and painful. Yet hope is always on the horizon. This story delves deeply into the paths of destruction and the paths toward healing. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and recommend it to anyone struggling with similar trials.
Gray is on a European tour. Brinley is home, doing a series of self-portraits. She keeps tabs on his tour. But she notices one woman who keeps showing up with Gray. Their communication is not good, her jealousy shows. When Gray comes home early from the tour she is packing all his things and asks him to leave. He is blindsided and pleads for her to wait. Apart both are miserable but too stubborn to make the first move. It takes an art show in New York, a concert nearby, and a conversation overheard by Brin for her to realize Gray was telling the truth. He was faithful to Brin the whole time. She begs his forgiveness. The result of starting over is a collaboration of Gray's music and Brinley's art in a live demonstration. It's a great idea. This is another example of Roman Ciere's ability to give intimate insight into relationships. I loved this book.
good story about love, life, and realities of marriage, it is work! Communication is key, being open and honest with each other while apart due to personal jobs and commitments and responsibilities. Loved how their two careers blended together and how each fought for their marriage. Wonderfully written, thoroughly enjoyable.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book and after reading the first one it was amazing. This was beautifully written story that married life is hard work . When real life puts doubts and loneliness into a relationship life gets complicated for the couple but through communication and determination and leaning on their faith they discover the HEA!
