For Mature Readers
Wow! Is all I can say. This author really knew how to mess with your mind; I was in total shock. I’ve never read a novel like this before, and I wasn't sure what to expect while reading it. I have so much going through my brain right now! This story does have some heavy themes, so I would recommend checking the trigger warnings on Novel Updates.
The story follows Ye Zi, who decides to do a murder exchange with someone named Hare after seeing their online post: "I want to kill her." Ye Zi agrees to the exchange, only to immediately back out out of fear. But Hare is always watching.
The plot twist was absolutely twisting!
I want to say more, but since it's only one volume and so easy to spoil, I'll hold back. The ending blew my mind, and I am in utter shock! I'm honestly speechless and can't wait to read more of this author's work. They truly know how to write psychological thrillers—it had me questioning everything happening in the book!

Personally, I didn’t enjoy this due to my personal preferences, so won’t be giving this a rating as it wouldn’t be fair.
I wasn’t a fan of the characters or art. So many plot holes so little time. I thought that the twist near the end was confusing.
I have a feeling the officially licenced novel by Via Lactea will be better than this and will feel less ‘choppy’. Sadly, I don’t think I would want to pick up the novel now that I know what the story is about.

With a clatter, the blade in Tu's hand fell to the ground, sending several drops of blood flying. He crouched down in front of Ye Zi and gently stroked his cheek with his bloodstained finger. For some inexplicable reason, Ye Zi's body stopped trembling so violently.
Even though Tu's blood-soaked face was utterly—even though, at that moment, he looked like a demon straight out of hell—
Ye Zi, glaring at him just as he was, gradually calmed down.
Tu gently pulled Ye Zi into his arms, petting him on the back while whispering, as if singing a lullaby in a tender voice: 'From now on, no one will ever defile you again."
"You won't be tainted by anyone else."
"You won't be betrayed by anyone else."
"That's wonderful."
Okay so I heard that there was a huge plot twist, so I thought it was about them being non-blood related brothers, not at all that apparently Ye Zi experienced all of this in a whole dream for over a decade. I love bad endings, but this one is just fucked up with them not even being the same character that we first were introduced to. Although Ye Chengxi is the more mature and sane one, I just love Tu way better, with how intense his obsessiveness was, his motives, and how he kept trickling behind Ye Zi no matter how he was treated. And even at the end of that first dream, he accepted the death because it was caused by Ye Zi. I also was not aware that there was going to be some atticwife in this, so I am really happy about that, I've been wanting to read a danmei with it. I am really upset though that Tu and Ye Chengxi are completely different beings, and that Tu was only obsessed with Ye Zi in the first dream. That was the complete reason why I read this, so knowing that his real self's life is even more depressing, this whole situation is really: stick together with your obsessed kidnapper you've known since as a kid for the rest of your life and if you escape your rescuers will die. Or, be completely alone with a saddening childhood and lonely adulthood with only a brother that is completely unalike the one he's in love with.
It was so cute whenever Tu followed him around while he was still in college, just not caring about anyone whatsoever except for Ye Zi. Especially when Ye Zi told him to get rid of all evidence from them communicating, but the one thing Tu couldn't remove is leaving him behind, as said in chapter 7:
A gentle voice spoke again: "I'm sorry, A-Zi. I still can't agree to this. You can make me delete every trace of our connections; you can ignore me, curse at me, hate me—you can take advantage of me as much as you want, and make me help you fulfill any wish you have—but you can't make me leave you."

A chilly breeze swept through the subway station, ruffling his hair. Even from such a distance, Ye Zi seemed to see a smile on Tu's face. "I'll protect you. I won't let you face any danger. Trust me." Tu's voice dropped, taking on a faint hoarseness. "A-Zi, I like you."
A part that annoyed me in this was how Ye Zi just didn't expect Tu, a stalker, to actually have pictures of him stalking him, what did he expect?? That's what stalkers are popularly known to do, and I can't believe him meeting his nonbiological parents is what caused him to separate from Tu, despite him continuously telling Ye Zi of how they treated the both of them, he was being literally right when he said how he's picking greed over love, he hasn't seen his parents for years and only remembered about them because of Tu himself. Honestly, although Tu is, obviously, mentally ill and treated Ye Zi's physical health horribly which also caused him to get stockholm syndrome , he still adored him from beginning to end, and I wonder how it would've ended like if the dad just died naturally and Ye Zi never met him at all, he would've still been stuck in his coma being happy while Tu does his little kills here and there, but his dumbass clearly ignored those until it involved him once more. As sad as it is, he genuinely would've been happier in this scenario than when he awoke from his coma, being depressed and clearly unwell to the world, not being next to what he loved despite him many times telling himself to run away, and with how his relationships in his real world is even double fucked up. I miss Tu and Ye Zi's relationship. They're so cute together, and I can't believe that Tu chose goddamned JASON as his English name, all because Ye Zi wore a shirt with the name on it, his obsessive ass is so stupid.

“I’m the ghost that’s always stuck to you. Wherever you go, I’ll be there. I’m always watching over you, I know everything about you.”
The story grabbed my attention right from the start, and I never felt like I had to wait for things to get interesting. I was hooked almost immediately. But I’ll be extremely honest, I usually enjoy psycho stories more when both characters are equally messed up, or when one is a psychopath and the other is a sociopath like Wine and Gun. I kept hoping for more of that dynamic while I was reading. One thing I couldn’t stop thinking about was the whole “murder exchange” thing. I found it so interesting that now I actually want to look it up and see if it’s ever happened in real life or if it’s just a fictional concept. For most of the book, I also kept wondering why they hadn’t been caught by the cops yet. A part of me really wanted to see them questioned because I felt like it would’ve been so satisfying to watch that kind of tension play out.
Somewhere toward the end, I started convincing myself that this probably wasn’t going to be a book I’d come back to anytime soon. I had already accepted whatever ending I thought was coming, and I was preparing myself for it. Whenever I read a killer BL, I always think there are only three possible endings. They either spend the rest of their lives hiding, they get caught and serve their sentence, or it ends in tragedy. I kept trying to guess which one this story was heading toward, and somehow it kept making me second guess myself. It’s honestly so hard to talk about this book because almost anything I could say about the ending feels like it would spoil the experience. I don’t even know how to describe it without saying too much.
When I finally finished reading it, I realized I was actually satisfied, even if it wasn’t for the reasons I expected. If you asked me whether this book has a happy ending, my answer would completely depend on how you define a happy ending. If you asked whether they end up together, I’d honestly say yes… and no. That’s probably the best answer I can give without ruining anything. I can already imagine the ending not working for a lot of readers, and I completely understand why. For me though, the ending is exactly what saved the book. It left me sitting there thinking about everything that had happened, and that was enough to make the whole journey worth it. I mentioned earlier that toward the end, I didn’t think I’d be re-reading the book, but after everything was over, I could actually see myself re-reading it next year to experience the story all over again.

BUT, let me say this as a... warning, THIS IS NOT YOUR TYPICAL MURDERER STALKER DANMEI.
this novel lets you ponder on how thick or thin the line between love and obsession really is; between dreams and reality; between self-indulgence and practicality. it let's us see through how a person's mind works as they slowly descend into madness. it's chaotic, uncomfortable, disgusting, ruthless, unabashed, too loud (not just his mind but the entire novel too). the novel itself is not just set in a linear present time duration. it's filled with constant time jumps and flashbacks. ye zi's decisions throughout the story were well-thought, batshit crazy, and driven by emotions all at the same time. his mind is a mess to be in, feeling like you're also going downhill together with him. the plot twist & ending route, i dare say, is objectively predictable but i was surprised in some instances. personally, i think it's a well-written psychological danmei with an actual mentally-unwell unreliable obsessive narrator. a tip though: prepare yourself and check TWs before diving into this story.

If you like absolute toxicity and chaos then you’ll probably enjoy this.
I really really liked this. In fact, I feel like I need to re read it because of that ending. When I was reading I was thinking ‘wow, seems MC is an unreliable narrator’ and I was right. The guy is the definition of delusional.
This literally felt like 3 different stories all merged into one. When I was a quarter of the way through I kept thinking ‘this is the same story?’ Towards the end it felt like I had picked up a new book altogether.
This was a wild ride. I felt so many different emotions reading this. I felt disgust, anxiety, concern, creeped out and I felt shivers down my spine.
I really appreciate the symbolism in here as well. The whole time I felt like something was off. It didn’t feel right and I felt something big was coming. I read a review on here about the plot twist and I felt that there were 2-3 plot twists in here until I realized what the actual ‘twist’ was.

I thought that maybe the writing felt a bit off to me because of the translation, but I think it’s intentional. With how warped MCs mind is, it all makes sense. The times where it felt like the story wasn’t making sense, or when I was thinking ‘how is this even possible given the circumstances?’ It’s because it’s a mass delusion of the MCs broken mind. The ‘plot holes’ are there for a reason and you can’t make any sense of it until the end.
I saw someone use the term schizophrenia and I think that pretty much sums it up. Instead of the stalked being the prey, the prey is the predator himself. I picked this up right away in chapter 22 when Ye Zi is seeing people he’s ‘killed’ walking about and alive. When Hare says ‘It’s just a hallucination’ and Ye Zi asks ‘Am I… sick?’ I knew something wasn’t right. It just didn’t get confirmed until the very end.
I also really appreciate that we got an explanation from the author at the end. We don’t usually get to see that so that was really fun.
Overall, I really liked this and I wish I had a physical copy.. maybe someday I’ll find it. I only have the ebook right now.

4.5. this book is absolutely unhinged and i love it i can't stay away from yanderes at all. this was toxic and fucked up in the best way possible. and while i don't love the ending (the only reason this isn't 5 stars for me), it was good enough that it didn't ruin the book for me and i'm v glad i bought a copy of this

I did not like this at all and it was not because of the darker/toxic things mentioned in this novel. This novel was not written well nor translated well. Huge paragraphs of dialogue with no dialogue tags, the words subconscious & conscious were mixed up in a sentence, when time passed it was not always stated in the novel but shown with an ellipses. The syntax was also choppy and awkward. Ye zi and Hare as characters were not fleshed out. I could not connect to them. I did not know their wants or hobbies, they did not seem well rounded. There was not enough reflection nor introspection for our mc, Ye Zi. Ye Zi briefly mentions he hated being adopted but he never goes deeper than that. There was not enough imagery nor descriptions. The reader doesn't know what Ye Zi school looks like, nor do we get a description of Hare's house. The sex scenes also could have been written with more detail, they were very short. So short, I could hardly imagine what was going on.The pacing was much too fast for the story. Within one paragraph the characters would hop to different setting.

My feelings towards this book are quite conflicting as I have heard that the publisher is using the assistance of AI, so going into this review I ha e that thought in the back of my mind and, although quite frustrating, Ill try my best to not discreting the translator and therefore the author, as the latter did a fenomenal work (without a doubt this novel is borderline excellent in its original language, i can feel it).
I will not mention the writing as I do not confidenty know how it was written, but I will talke about the story.
It was bloody fantastic. It sucked you in straight away into the troubling mind of a university student who falls victim to an obsessed "psychopath" he meets online who also compells him to murder some people, and we see so much about our mc, as it is revealed that he is not all that right in the head as he enjoyes these murders. As the book progresses we see how the mc -Ye zi- deals with what we presume to be ptsd from the killings as well as Hare's - the ml- obsession with him grows. The story developes into a spiral of twists and violence with Yezi regaining his autonomy and comming to terms with the fact that Hare, who turns out he knew from his past, does not love him in a way that one might consider normal. So, we see Yezi exact his revenge or "salvation" from Hare by ending Hare's life. So it seems. Because by the end we realise that it was all a dream.
Usually, I am not the biggest fan of this trope, but instead of dissapointment at how the story ended, I felt...satisfaction. We learn that Yezi is actually in a mental institution and he is the one "obsessed" in a sense with the real "Hare" who is actually his adopted brother Chengxi, we also learn that his condition is a trauma esponse to the immense pain he had sufferd in his childhood.
What I loved most about this novel though was the analusis at the back as the author thwmselves explains all the symbolism and ideas behind the story. For example how Freud's theory about your unconsiousness awakening in your dreams to reveal your "true" desires, as well as the significanse of Yezi's username at the begining of the book being "predator" as it clashed with his personality at the start. As much as I want to delve into this matter more by making an analysis of my own, it will take too long and I frankly do not have the patients to write it all on my phone, so to close I'd like to state how satisfied I am with the ending. Yezi reaching absolution and freeing his soul from all the pain he has endured all this time and finally being reunited with the only person that brought him comfort, albeit him being an illusion, an animation of Chengxi to be the person he wanted -needed- him to be. A person who cared enough to protect and love him, because in the end all he wanted was (in my humble opinion) not revenge -not as deeply as the author states, although wanting to exact it with a great passion, understandably- but a person to see him, specifically Chengxi, to trully see him and protect him from those who caused him harm.
Ps. Never in my life have I read a sex scene where the penis is refered to as "organ". I had to point that out, I do appologise.
My feelings towards this book are quite conflicting as I have heard that the publisher is using the assistance of AI, so going into this review I ha e that thought in the back of my mind and, although quite frustrating, Ill try my best to not discreting the translator and therefore the author, as the latter did a fenomenal work (without a doubt this novel is borderline excellent in its original language, i can feel it).
I will not mention the writing as I do not confidenty know how it was written, but I will talke about the story.

Novela que me enganchó inmediatamente, me hizo llorar y pasar un buen rato.
Los personajes llaman la atención por ser mentalmente inestables y psicóticos, te dan una perspectiva retorcida de la mente humana.
Me gusta el personaje de Ye Zi, él es una persona que quiere tener una vida normal y en paz pero que realmente tiene una mentalidad inestable y susceptible, con tendencias psicópatas ya que a lo largo de la historia se presenta como alguien que no quiere matar pero que al hacerlo no presenta un remordimiento, solo temor por perder su vida en la cárcel cosa que se puede entender mucho más al final de la historia. Es un personaje que ante las penurias y deficiencias emocionales que ha vivido, se ha visto sobrecargado en la vida real hasta llegar a un momento en que se rompe y toda esa impotencia se ve expresada a través de una metáfora: matar.
Conejo es un ser tan intrigante, no sé si inclinarme por creer que es real o un producto imaginario de la mente distorsionada de Ye Zi...
En sí, la relación entre Ye Zi y Conejo es entretenida de leer y sus escenas románticas son satisfactorias. La trama es bien esquizoide, pero como he leído Monster puedo decir que ya me esperaba un plot twist al final, pero eso no quita que me llegó al corazón y terminé soltando unas lágrimas por el impacto que me generó el último capítulo.
Con respecto al final opino que ha sido excelente, es un final realista y lógico ante la miserias que ha vivido el protagonista y es un final que nos hace reflexionar sobre la cruel sociedad, las injusticias, la importancia de la salud mental y del amor familiar.
Ha sido muy fácil de leer, corta y entretenida, por lo que se lo recomiendo a quien desee algo un poco más oscuro y angustiante.

Great plot outline, but falls a bit short in the writing department.
It is pretty hard to review this book without spoiling it, but I'll try my best, since it doesn't have many reviews. The story starts with two guys meeting in an online chat, agreeing to the "murder exchange" - both have someone they desperately want dead. Unexpectedly, one if them becomes obsessed with the other after that. The plot is fast paced and generally pretty fun, for the most part, it reminds me a lot of popular manhwas with black flag characters. Which isn't bad for me per se, as I like darker stories, but the writing often lacks depth and is overly simplistic. Things are happening fast and sometimes in a way that you don't really find believable, and while main character does have emotional reaction to everything, it is often not examined on more than a surface level. There is an passionate obsession that seems to come out of nowhere. And some things are pretty out of place, existing only for aesthetics.
However, the plot twist near the end and the explanations afterwards actually do explain a lot, cover plot holes and give more depth to the characters retroactively. I actually quite liked the ending. Problem is, for 80% of the book I felt like I was reading a very average comic. I was definitely not bored, but I wasn't feeling much for the characters.
Thus, my rating would be: this book has a skeleton of a good psychological thriller with toxic romance, but for me it lacks meat that writing would provide. Would recommend it if you like faster pace and more simplistic style of writing and toxic bl thropes leaning on the thriller side.

I really like this kind of twisted love story, although this book is going to have a lot of CW/tw, so I hope other readers will consider it before reading it.
I like this kind of troupe, but at first I thought it's gonna be a wicked love story full of the obsession of a mad person, well, it's kind of true, but it's more than that. Personally, I prefer the Chinese title "MadMan" over "Psycho" because when you finish the book, it literally depicts the content of the book, whereas "Psycho" does not.
Although in the middle of the story, I kinda guess where this story will be going, but it keeps interesting to read, some phrases make you feel like watching a surrealist movie, and make you feel like flying on the cloud (or "high").
I checked the author's other stories, and it seems the author is a type who writes stories that require a high tolerance from their reader, but I wish there were more from this author published in English.
About it have a Happy or Bad Ending? I think it depends on how the reader will interpret the story. This kind of story cannot have 100% happy or bad ending, but for me, it feels like a bad ending, but it's a happy ending for the protagonist. Perhaps it can be described have same feeling when you read the ending of legendary Kaori Yuki's manga Boy's Next Door.
I hope Tu and A-Zi can be together forever ;_;
(but I'm still glad ChengXi truly loves him, and Zi is not one-sided, but it's too painful)

Okay. I'm a little dissapointed to be honest. The first 80% of the book was great and I think the plot twist had potential, though I'm a little ticked off at the well of torture that was revealed a certain character faced at the end and how it justified the story. Which like, don't get me wrong I think had potential too. But the entire book, because of the plot twist remained as just a good potential. At times it felt like the plot was being rushed over important scenes just to get to the plot twist near the end. I feel like there could have been a couple of more chapters to really explore both Ye Zi and Hare's characters. I was so excited when I realised this was a Yandere story and wished it unapologetically leaned into it, but the ending felt like a cop out.

I originally was going to rate this a 3 but after careful consideration, I gave this a 4. Whilst at times the writing felt a little meh to me (I don’t know how to describe it), the author really knew how to drag you in with the descriptions of the ‘💀’ and some of the plot twists I didn’t see coming. I only saw one plot twist coming which still shocked me and when I read the ‘💀’ descriptions, I could only think about “the author had to look this up, right?” because how in the world does a human think like that…but it was engaging and sometimes a little slump but not too much. I’d give it a shot if you like something more darker with lots of plot twists.

Trigger warnings aside,the whole thing is absolutely CRAZY, at first it sounded like a fanfiction to me but when I reached the end of the book and the plot twist hit, I finally realized why I felt like that. Although the translation wasn't great I didn't quite dislike it

For this book, I recommend going in completely blind. It’s a good horror and psychological book. It was not my cup of tea but I still applaud the plot twist at the end. It definitely leavea you feeling all sorts of way.

I loved how insane and unhinged the book started out as. But closer to it’s end I felt mostly confused by it and the plot twist left me with mixed feelings.
