The soul-consuming entity was just the beginning. Now the Blademaster must face four deadly trials to recover what was lost centuries ago.
In the shadow of a mysterious island, where ancient Dwemhar secrets lie buried within mountain stone, Rukes finds himself marked by the god of death himself. The mark on his wrist isn't just punishment—it's a challenge. Four trials stand between him and the rescue of the legendary First Blademaster, lost to cosmic forces centuries ago.
When a monstrous entity descends upon the small fishing village of Misthaven, Rukes faces the first of Vankou's deadly tests. The Harvester—a Lovecraftian horror of tentacles and eyes—consumes consciousness by severing souls from physical forms. Its black ichor dissolves bone and flesh alike, and conventional weapons merely delay the inevitable.
As villagers fall to the creature's soul-stealing touch, Rukes must delve into forbidden knowledge with the ancient archon Elindor. Together they uncover a counter-melody to the death-song, a crystal shard that resonates with ruinite, and the terrible to defeat the Harvester, Rukes must plunge into the very heart of the cosmic entity—where visions of the lost Blademaster await.
But even if he survives this first trial, three more await, each more deadly than the last. For in the balance between cosmic boundaries lies the salvation of the First Blademaster—and perhaps Rukes's own destiny.
From the author of the acclaimed Blademaster series comes a tale of boundaries between realms, duty that transcends death, and the terrible beauty of sacrifice.

What is Rukes dealing with in the first of the four trials Vankou set for him?
This time around, Rukes finds himself back in Misthaven facing his first of four trials. At least now he has a bit of help from the Archon Elindor, brother of the very first Blademaster. Poor Rukes has to face the Harvester, a creature with tentacles who devours all in its path, including people. Well, it doesn’t devour the people, but it does pretty much turn them into zombies. We get a bird’s eye view of the action as Rukes does what he does best—fight! After reading about the first of the trials, I can’t wait to see what Rukes has to face next!

Blade master : Heart of the Harvester is dark fantasy aimed at making the reader cringe, making is heart pulsing rather fast in acknowledgement of the horror facing Rules and the people of Misthaven. The god of death, Urban marked Rukes and set him to succeed four challenges. The first one is a doozy! Recover the Heart Key by winning over the most deadly creature ever, The Harvester. This creature is invincible. Supernatural. And deadly. Phew. And I thought the Death-Singer was harrowing by far. Enjoy.
