This started off strong and engaging. Character growth was well developed but felt at the half way point they regressed and changed in mannerism. The hero was strong and alpha male, but as their romance developed and progressed he changed and became more beta. Just didn't flush out well in the end. Heroine was strong but also made some decisions that seemed uncharacteristic of her role and standing as a future queen.
Cassie is about to become queen and wants to have a little fun and live life. She decides to disappear and live a little. Hero, Ares is friend with her brother and gets a call to find her and protect her.
I love my HP and escapism, but felt this was a bit of stretch and didn't flush out well with the development of the characters and romance.
Ares has past family issue and trauma. Heroine has always been responsible and hard working, but want to let loose for a bit. This all plays into their romance and development. The ending was okay but felt it lacked a true sense of who each individual truly was and what they ended up as.

Bodyguard’s Royal Temptation is the first story in the Royal House of Sadat duo/series, and brings us the passionate romance of Cassandra (Cassie) and Ares. Cassie never expected to become Queen, yet circumstances far beyond her control have thrust her into a role that she has little choice but to accept. In the weeks leading up to her coronation, Cassie is somewhat overwhelmed with new rules and the enormity of the role she is about to take on. She’ll also come to the realization that there are so many things that she’ll never be able to do once that crown is upon her head. She makes an impulsive decision to escape for a few days of freedom, living like any other woman her age, free to embrace choices she’ll never be able to make again. She’s not running from her responsibilities, but only wants a few days to herself, to be free before committing her life to her beloved country. She never could have imagined she’d find love on a Greek island with a man she cannot easily forget.
Ares is Cassie’s brother’s friend and a powerhouse in the protection services industry. He’s a man who has faced the cruelty of betrayal, a man who sees life in black and white with no grey areas allowed. To say that Ares is uptight, a control freak, and stubborn beyond belief is perhaps an understatement. There are reasons that he views life as he does, and one princess, one soon-to-be queen, is about to change his life, for the better if he’ll allow some grey into his world.
I enjoyed Bodyguard’s Royal Temptation so much. Cassie is a believable character in so many ways. She never expected to take on the role of Queen. All she wants is a bit of freedom for a few days… but she also has no real clue about the realities of the outside world. She’s charming, trusting, and meeting Ares totally changed her. Ares is all alpha male, but his time with Cassie is smoothing out some of those edges, allowing a softer, more emotional man to emerge. Oh, he’ll always protect Cassie with his life, but he also now wants what he believes he cannot have… the woman he’s come to love. Their romance is well-written, passionate, and so emotional. I loved every moment with them, and I’m looking forward to the next story in this duo. If that sounds like your kind of romantic adventure, then you’d love Cassie and Ares’ romance.

I expected to be traumatized, but I was entertained instead.
Having read several books by Abby Green, I believe she is a skilled storyteller who creates intense characters that are out of place in Harlequin Presents stories. At least one of her books left me traumatized and ready to demand a refund because it wasn’t the light angst that I expected from a Harlequin Presents book. I felt like she held back in this one. Neither character had a sunny past but she glossed over it, leaving me feeling a little cheated. This was a sweet story with the promise of depth that just wasn’t delivered. The ending was too abrupt. But it was a quick, enjoyable read that didn’t require much of a commitment. I recommend it for light entertainment, which is exactly what I expect from a Harlequin Presents book.

Bodyguard's Royal Temptation is the first book of a new series which features Cassie, a secret royal who seeks a quiet vacation after ditching her bodyguard, and Ares, who is asked to protect her by her brother and serve as her bodyguard. The characters have immediate attraction to one another which progresses to a point it should not have done. This enjoyable book has great writing, wonderful characters, banter, and steamy romance.

I enjoyed reading Bodyguard's Royal Temptation, by Abby Green. Cassie, an undercover princess and Ares, an undercover bodyguard, are instantly attracted to each other when they meet. His job is to protect her, but she ditched her bodyguard detail to enjoy her vacation as a regular person for a few days. When Ana's discovers Ares' real identity the fireworks begin.

I love these stories by Abby. Cassie wanted to have a few days of freedom before being crowned queen, and during that trip, she met Ares—a friend of her brother's. The two began spending time together and confiding in one another; however, Cassie had a royal duty to her people—she wanted love—while Ares didn't want to be part of that life. But in the end, love prevailed, bringing them together to find their happily ever after.

This is the story of Ares and Cassie, the bodyguard and his princess. The story is good with a little angst and emotional bits. I love the banter and humor in the story too. I like the characters and how their story develops. Such a refreshing read.
