Tears of a Good Boy

Rate this book
Kevin Foley is no stranger to being ignored and unappreciated. Women don’t appreciate his “nice guy” approach, and his aging, ailing mother, who he lives with and cares for, doesn’t appreciate him either. But Kevin has the live streamers he’s obsessed with. Primarily, Lora. She notices him. She appreciates his online presence and his donations.

In lonely desperation, Kevin reaches out to Lora, hoping a hefty donation will grant him a private conversation with the woman of his dreams. Maybe he can even meet up with her. His mother thinks he’s being foolish, but surely, a woman like Lora wouldn’t deny her biggest fan.

Besides, Kevin doesn’t intend to take no for an answer.

Okay, I LOVED this book! Deathly Rose has quickly become a fave author and this story is hands down her BEST yet. I particularly enjoyed the multiple POV's. The storyline was solid and the buildup was fantastic. I was so glad that we, as the reader, got a first hand glimpse into Lora's past which really further developed the story. The twist?! SHOOK.

Tears of a Good Boy follows Kevin. He lives with his mother and is her sole caretaker while still maintaining his day to day job of his own. He has always had trouble with the ladies and his mother treats him very poorly on top of things. Kevin escapes his reality by exploring the internet. He follows a popular live streamer whom he has grown rather fond of and even gives her extra donations in hopes of being noticed for once. One day, Kevin decides to try his luck even further by suggesting a one on one conversation and things go in his favor. From here, this is where the story really kicks it up a notch and things don't let up for one second.

Fans of Extreme Horror will absolutely devour this one. Be sure to add this one to your TBR.

Thank you, Deathly Rose for allowing me to read this one early. Tears of a Good Boy releases on September 13th, 2025.

Kevin lives a miserable life. His "nice guy" approach doesn't work with the ladies, and he's miserable taking care of his sick mother. Where he finds joy is online. He loves watching female live streamers for his pleasure, and he has a favourite one. Lora. She's funny, beautiful, and she will be his.

One day he has the pleasure of speaking with Lora on video and to his surprise, she seems interested in him. They set up a plan to meet but Lora has expectations. Kevin is willing of course because Lora is his but he's in for a rude awakening. Lora has some tricks up her sleeve and Kevin's world is about to be turned upside down. Woof.

I love this so much! The illustrations inside were beautiful! Kevin is a nasty man and got what he deserved. Hearing Loras' past is heartbreaking and it gives you an idea of why she is the way she is. I love Lora. The definition of a survivor. Deathly Rose is an excellent author and everything she's put out is incredible! The final chapter was pure chef's kiss! Go support this incredible author and find out exactly what Kevin gets

This was the perfect blend of extreme horror and femme rage.

Kevin, a 37-year-old living at home caring for his disabled mom, spends his days obsessively watching female streamers. When he fixates on Lora, his obsession takes a chilling turn. What follows is a spiral of manipulation, violence, and unhinged obsession, matched only by Lora’s own fight for control.

The story is bleak, gory, and fast-paced—like watching a disturbing Shudder short come to life. Dark, shocking, and unforgettable. Highly recommended for fans of extreme horror and splatterpunk!

Tears Of A Good Boy: Out 13th September

I have been patiently waiting for this for the last couple of months, I just knew it was going to be everything & more & my days was it!!

“Don’t hate the player, hate the game. Why stand by misogynistic beliefs when it can be easily used against you”

Kevin is a disgusting 37 year man child that still lives with his mum, he thinks like a horny teenager spending all his time ogling over girls on the internet. The only time he’s distracted from the sites is to take care of his disabled mother, which he absolutely despises, she is the bane of his existence!

He has one thing on his mind only…..

Lora, the beautiful online gamer he’s been lusting after, sending all his cash too, the one that plays the lead in all his fantasies. She has made his dreams come true, she’s asking to meet up! Is Kevin going to finally get the girl he thinks he deserves? Or has Lora got complete different intentions for men like Kevin? 😏

Oh this book had me in a chokehold! I could not put it down & read it in one sitting. The gross’ness & the humour of it 👌🏻 but the actual story…wow every single chapter just pulled you in, you cannot predict one page to the next, after part two it’s relentless in the best possible way!

I grew so attached to these characters, Lora being an obvious firm fav, I see her & love her 🫶🏻 Also shout out for the added illustrations, I always love when they’re included! It helps the images whilst reading & these were incredible.

I will always have a special place in my heart for Deathly, not only is she an incredible author but she is one of my best friends, my soul sister, twin & at times my therapist 😅 To see how much she’s grown from reading Blood Of A Sinner to this, is just so crazy. I’m so proud of you & thank you for including me in your acknowledgements 🥺

Available 13th September, you can pre-order now! Double check those triggers!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

First of all, to be able to read the last book coming from Deathly Rose as an ARC - what an honor! This book released September 13th, and thank you so much to the author for letting me be a part of her writing journey under the pen name Deathly Rose.

🥀 Another fantastic book!

Lets meet Kevin, even though you probably don’t really want to. He lives at home taking care of his disabled mother. I’ll say “take care of” lightly, as he’s honestly just waiting for her to die. Let’s face it, Kevin is giving major incel vibes. He likes to give all of his money to online women, especially of the gorgeous gamer variety. While he fantasizes about them falling in love with him, he also fantasizes about controlling them and taking them as his own regardless of consent.

Kevin of course has a favorite, Lora. She’s beautiful and sweet and Kevin has made an effort to give her money whenever he can and it makes his heart race whenever he hears “Thank you Kevin”. Deciding to make his move he offers Lora a good chunk of money so they can meet in person. Lora graciously accepts (which let’s be real, no one, not even Kevin thought it would be a yes) and so now even with some hiccups, the plans are set.

Neither Kevin nor Lora have any idea what’s about to happen. And neither will you until you go read it!

This one is a bit tamer compared to Deathly’s other books but it still packs a punch of nasty, brutal, psychological, sad and at times - funny. I love the way she addresses mental health in some form on all of her books and this one follows suit.

Thank you again to Deathly Rose for truly trusting me with all of your ARCs, I have been so lucky to see you grow as an author over this past year. Can’t wait to follow you onto wherever you go next!

To the rest of you, happy reading! 📖

This is a book about two incredibly messed up people, one seeking to prove himself as a man with value and worth, and another that craves violence against men in an effort to fight off her own demons.

Kevin, is a red pilled incel who spends most of his free time watching gaming streamer girls online, and questioning his inability to talk to and gain the interest of women. He’s not watching these streamers for the gaming aspect.

When he’s not online, play acting his gross fantasies and sending these girls money to get himself noticed and acknowledged by them, he is caring for his disabled mother.

He has a deep seated hatred for his mother, because she treats him like a slave when he’s literally the only person she had to take care of her after she paralyzed herself with her terrible driving.

But Kevin will always have his gamer girls to escape to when he’s feeling down. Now if only one of them would give him the time of day, and talk to him one on one.

Lora, a gorgeous online streamer takes an interest in meeting Kevin, as he’s been following her streams and donating money to her for years.

What Kevin doesn’t know, is that Lora has a tortured past of her own, and her desperation for retribution will definitely be the downfall of his red-pilled incel behaviors.

It’s really hard to root for a particular character in this book, but I will still say, without a doubt, that this is a ‘good for her’ story. Another solid one for the books from Deathly Rose, loved it.

What a fantastic book from the first chapter to the last this book gripped me and shook me like a dog with a toy
Kevin was an incredibly written character who you hate for obvious reasons but as Deathly is such an awesome author there are parts in this story that you can’t help but almost feel sorry for him and you definitely shouldn’t

Lora is our FMC and is written so perfectly she’s broken in all the right ways her actions will keep you guessing constantly now not wanting to give away any spoilers what I can say is that with a vast array of characters you have plenty of options for a favourite although that will say more about you than you might be comfortable admitting.

This story is filled with misogynistic viewpoints and many triggers so be aware that you will be tested but this story is also a warning to both sides of an exchange on the internet is who you plan on meeting in real life really who they say they are?

The final word to this book gives the reader a powerful ending honestly for the final book from this author they saved the best until last

I always know whenever I read one of deathly rose’s books I’ll be hooked from start to finish! This one was no different.

This book follows Kevin, a guy who obsesses over women streamers online while living at his mums house. One day he goes to meet up with one of these streamers and everything goes wrong for him lmao. Lora was absolutely WILD - I did not expect the twist at all. I loved her feminine rage, I’m always down for a woman giving absolute HELL.
I loved the multiple POV’s and how they were shown throughout the book.

I definitely recommend this for people who are a fan of gore and extreme horror. Every part had me sat there with my mouth wide open in shock haha. I actually flew through it so quickly cos I was so intrigued to see what was going to happen next - shocking!!

Thank you for the early arc.

Thank you Deathly Rose for an advanced copy!

Deathly Rose has done it again, she has smashed it
with this one. I have loved all of her books and this one is no exception!

She has this incredible way of making you feel emotions so deeply, and it's these emotions that carry you through the book. I truly admire the way she writes certain themes. She hits the nail on the head every time and captures the essence of these themes perfectly.

The book is fast paced, each page more shocking than the last, pulling you in and leaving you desperate to keep reading. Gore, violence and some stomach churning moments are spread throughout the book, getting more shocking as you read on. This then all leads up to an absolutely brilliant ending!

This book is an absolute must read for those who love their horror intense, brutal and relentless, you do not want to miss this one!

4.5⭐️ I’ve been excitedly waiting for this author’s full length debut and it was everything I wanted. Her creative and gruesome descriptions are some of my favorite and while she certainly held back (a tiny bit) compared to her novellas, this still had plenty of gore. I loved this story of an incel who feels like he’s owed affection. That’s all I’ll say because you should go into this blind!

What I love most about Deathly Rose’s writing is the unpredictability… you think you’ve got the story figured out, and then BAM! she hits you with a twist, a shocking scene, or something so thought-provoking it knocks you off balance. Her first full-length novel proves she knows exactly how to take readers on a brutal, unforgettable ride. If you’re a fan of extreme horror or splatterpunk, this one’s a must-read.

A solid 5-star for Deathly Rose!!!

Ever had a bruise that you just can’t stop pressing? How about a skinned knee with a scab begging to be picked. Sure, it hurts, and it starts bleeding all over again, but you just can’t resist. Deathly Rose has created a dual POV story featuring a character named Kevin who is that scab. I hate him. I’m repulsed by him. And I can’t stop turning the pages to read more. (This is the highest praise I can issue. I love a character like this & the author nailed it!!!!)

Kevin is a sniveling man-baby who views women as falling about two rungs below earthworms on the ladder of humanity. We observe some dubious “caretaking” of his mother, and the extreme lengths he’ll go to for female attention. But beyond his shocking and callous actions, we see the echoes of modern society and the dangers of people being indoctrinated into dangerous ways of thinking.
Lora commandeers the other POV and as her story unfolds, we see important themes related to trauma, rage, intergenerational violence & revenge. Morally gray in her on right, she is still a character that balances the scales with Kevin and still a character I could root for (despite wanting to yell at her too!).

As far as extreme horror goes, this one knocks it out of the park. I appreciate that the author hits all the beats as far as shock, gore, unhinged behavior and a fast-paced plot. But it’s not lost on me that this work speaks about deeper issues we face related to gender, sexuality, violence, indoctrination of impressionable youth and oppression. I also found myself laughing manically repeatedly. She pulls this all off with a dose of dry, gallows humor that I adore.

Thank you for making me cackle Deathly Rose, & for writing passages that were so good I had to read them out loud! For fans of extreme horror, I couldn’t recommend this more highly!

... just when you think "ok this character is a trash human and I hate him," Deathly Rose comes back with an author's way of saying, 'lol, just wait sweetheart' and I absolutely devoured it

This is an incredibly fast-paced extreme horror with some intense build up and backstory. You're introduced to Kevin, a man in his late 30s who gives off an incel mindset. He has a thing for lady streamers and quickly forms a bond with Lora, and things go from worse to worser (or better to best depending on your interpretation). In true Deathly Rose fashion, it's vile and gruesome, but looking away is not an option.

I was shooketh to my core, and five stars is not enough.

Tears Of A Good Boy, follows Kevin he was at his mother. He is a soul caretaker of his mom. And unfortunately, his mother treats him very poorly. And Kevin to escape reality, he spends the majority of his time on the Internet, talking to a popular live streamer that he has become a little obsessed with. And things from there just don’t let up this book is very dark and twisted. If you like extreme horror and splatterpunk you should definitely add this book to your tbr!

Equal parts grotesque and genius. I laughed, I gagged, I praised the women’s wrongs. Exactly what I wanted! Dark, fast and impossible to put down. Each page was soaked in rage and gore in the best way possible. The shifting perspectives keep you on edge, while the unpredictable characters threaten to throw you over. Truly an unforgettable read.
