Book 2 of the Bigger Alpha's series. It's a short and steamy, instalove, OTT, age-gap, opposites-attract, virgin gets her bodyguard romance. Charlie is a 20 year old sheltered daughter of a Senator. Tired of being caged, she decides to leave one night, escaping her known bodyguards, to experience some freedom. Jack is a hunky bodyguard hired by her father to follow her at all times, so luckily he is there when things go sideways at a club. She doesn't want to go home so he takes her to his cabin. Can he keep her safe? The chemistry between these two was explosive and we got an amazing HEA after the drama.

Charlotte "Charlie" Freeman can hardly believe what she's about to do. She's bought herself an LBD where the top is cut way down to there and the skirt is cut way up to there. She's pairing it with bright red lipstick. But the most scandalous part is that she plans to ditch her bodyguards.
Her father is bigwig Senator George Freeman. She's tired of being trotted out for perfect pictures of her perfect life. For once, she just wants to have some fun. Is that too much to ask? Apparently so, she soon learns.
She's at a budget hotel an hour outside of D.C. No paparazzi has spotted her. She's rarely out of her father's sight. She's never been able to attend a sleepover, and at age twenty, she's never ever had a boyfriend. But she does usually have five to ten bodyguards accompanying her everywhere. Well, not tonight!
She escaped last night with a suitcase she packed months ago, a big wad of her allowance, and her camera. Her camera is the only thing she has left of her mom.
She just wants a week, or two, of freedom. So with fake I.D. in hand, she's off to party. She has a cab take her to the nearest club. But as she walks inside, it's too much—too loud, too hot, too much perfume, tobacco, and sweat, and too many people, along with too many strobe lights. It was a mistake to come here.
But after a gorgeous blonde woman collides into her and almost knocks her down, she notices how the woman and the other gorgeous woman with her seem to act as if they own the dance floor. That's how she'd like to act. She decides to go to the bar and order a drink.
As she's sipping her terrible-tasting drink, a man across the room waves to her. She surprises herself when she waves back. Then a man approaches her to ask for a dance. He's disappointed but turns and leaves when she declines. The next guy isn't nearly so nice. He appears to be drunk, but then he calls her Charlotte and grabs her. It's then she feels the gun tucked under his jacket! She's ready to claw his eyes out—she may not know what he plans, but it's not good. As she's telling him to let go of her, he's suddenly ripped away from her and lying on the floor in obvious pain.
That's when she looks up into the most beautiful blue eyes she's ever seen. Although he calls her Princess, just like the newspapers do, she doesn't mind him doing it. He grabs her hand and hauls her out of the club.
Jack Steele has been following her since she left home. He's been ready to drag her out of that club since she entered. She thinks she's blending in, but she sticks out like a sore thumb. However, in that dress, she looks nothing like the demure daughter her father keeps under lock and key or the perfect photos the newspapers publish.
Charlie doesn't realize the types of threats her father has been receiving lately. He knew she'd probably try to run away before too much longer. That's when he hired Jack to follow her. He's not to explain who he is unless it becomes necessary. After what happened just now, it may be necessary.

For some reason, this book read differently for me. I couldn't connect to it or the characters. I get that Charlotte 'Charlie' Freeman 20, daughter of a senator, lives in a fish bowl, or bird cage, constantly being watched everywhere she would go. So she needed protection. And the one night she breaks free, to have fun and go to a bar, it brings in an exclusive bodyguard, unknown to her, former Navy Seal Jack Steele. It started well enough. But something happened as soon as Jack took Charlie to his cabin. To keep an eye on her or to have her alone. Probably both.😝 I have no idea how old Jack was.
There wasn't enough banter. I didn't feel these 2 were getting to know each other at all. Jack had his past military issues but it wasn't explored. Charlie never expressed about her mother or how she used photography as an outlet. There was no character development to it becoming this emotional attachment. It was OTT, insta-heat and basically... smut.😂 Which seemed to be the main focus. That's fine but then... The Daddy kink came into play. I'm not a fan. I didn't know it was going to be utilized before, during, and after intimacy. It was constant. Also, Jack used the endearment Princess as often as Charlie used the term Daddy.lol Good girl praise. It became, cringy. There was no substance outside the physical. It's a shorter story but something was missing for me. Happy reading. *•>§<•*💟💟💟

Charlie has been under guard for a while now, as her father is a senator with people after him who want to take him down. It makes Charlie a prime target, but she doesn’t take the threat seriously. One night, she runs away, determined to experience what it would have been like if she hadn’t been constantly under guard.
When going to a club turns out to not be the experience she hoped, and a man tries to make her leave with him, another very hot, very skilled man saves her, then drags her out of the club and into a cabin in the woods.
Because nothing bad ever happens when a woman is dragged to a cabin in the woods, right?
Luckily, Jack, the bodyguard whom her father hired to keep her safe while she rebelled, is not about to let her run again. He’s irritated with himself that he finds her attractive, but their chemistry is undeniable, and he can only hold off for so long.
And of course, our naïve little princess thinks she knows better than anyone else, and makes a very stupid mistake. Don’t worry, though, this story has a happy ending, and Charlie learns that “freedom” isn’t what she thought it was.
Jack and Charlie definitely burn brightly, and so quickly fall in love. I hear a lot of people bemoaning instalove romances, but I’m here to say that it only takes a moment to fall in love. What you do from there is up to you. Thankfully, Jack and Charlie decided to keep that love burning.

A great novella about a young woman who runs off due to her father’s protective behavior that’s suffocating her during this time she meets a man who winds up protecting her and soon she finds out that he’s there because her father is watching her.
The two start having feelings that neither one wants to deal with but in no time they become intimate. They become intimate again after they get up in the tub. The next day a call comes from her father informing the man to bring her back home but in no time another call comes in that he has to take.
Having a panic attack due the fact that she has to go back she goes outside with her camera when she is grabbed in the woods. The man finds her gone and it doesn’t take long to find her. They leave to take her back to her father when they get there they talk to her father. Knowing he can’t have her he lets her go.
Thinking about her that man goes back to her only to find out that she’s missing, he finds her soon after. Her father talks to them and leaves them alone.
Two years later the two are married and she works as a photographer. When she gets home from work she’s surprised that the man’s home since he’s to be gone on an assignment from her father but he came home early. After being close she tells him about the surprise she had for him. They’re happy about the surprise as well as with each other and are in love, forever.

Having a panic attack due the fact that she has to go back she goes outside with her camera when she is grabbed in the woods. The man finds her gone and it doesn’t take long to find her. They leave to take her back to her father when they get there they talk to her father. Knowing he can’t have her he lets her go.
Thinking about her that man goes back to her only to find out that she’s missing, he finds her soon after. Her father talks to them and leaves them alone.
Two years later the two are married and she works as a photographer. When she gets home from work she’s surprised that the man’s home since he’s to be gone on an assignment from her father but he came home early. After being close she tells him about the surprise she had for him. They’re happy about the surprise as well as with each other and are in love, forever.

Short but addictive so hang on you won’t put it down until the last page has been turned. Charlie is tired she lives as a political prop for her father but also he is too controlling smile for cameras, wave for the people, if you must speak with reports watch your word although they prefer her not to speak to any reports and so because of her life everywhere she goes a team of bodyguards make sure each breath she takes is timed literally. She just wants one night of freedom out of the cage her father constructed for her so the moment she gets a chance she runs just for one night. Jack sexy as all get out tad bit scary bodyguard, he is lethal if needed but calm for the most part and hired to keep senator’s daughter safe but one look and he sees the behind all the political, the rules a woman who deserves a life of her own. But her one night of freedom doesn’t go as planned in fact it ends with her fighting to survive happy Jack is there to protect her but also it allowed them to be honest about their feelings for each other but will they be honest with her father, with each other, will she finally demand her freedom away from it all, and can she find happiness while still supporting her father?

I enjoyed Charlie and Jack's story because in my own opinion she should've been in the loop when it came to the threats that were being sent to her father or the fact she could've been target at all. Unless she was aware of the threats and she was being ignorant which is possible, but I also get her need for air to breathe instead of being locked in their home which would've possibly been a target to take out both her and her father at some point. I like that her father eventually opened up about why he was trying to keep her locked down in the cage that is her home because to Charlie her home didn't feel like anymore at some point for her it turned into a cage that she couldn't escape. I also like that Jack Steele was in the right place at the right time for the club attack and her attempted kidnapping not far from the cabin that he took her to, and then again when she was trying to get over the gate/fence when she was going to go find him because she would've traded being with him in his cage over being her father's cage which I would've too in her shoes. It was a really fun and quick read and worth 5 stars.

Big Bodyguard is a fast and filthy novella with daddy issues and a daddy kink. 20 year old Charlie runs away from her father’s house because she is tired of feeling trapped by her politician father’s team of bodyguards. Naive as she is, she definitely needs protection against those seeking to manipulate her father through her. Enter hardened and hurting ex-SEAL Jack, who falls hard and fast for this lusciously lovely and too innocent young woman. He breaks rule # 1 all too quickly—and he gets off when she calls him daddy. I am not a fan of the daddy kink at all, but the action sequences and the chemistry between Jack and Charlie are fire! I adore how he sees her and how she challenges him at every turn—even when she does the dumbest things. Highly entertaining and with medium spice, this one hour read kept me riveted from start to finish.

Charlie felt like she was growing up in a cage surrounded constantly by bodyguards and barely able to go out as her father has many threats against him so it means that Charlie is also threatened as she can be used against her father. Charlie wants to escape and get some freedom so she sneaks out of the house and leaves all the bodyguards behind but without her knowing her father hires Jack to watch out for her. The attraction between Jack and Charlie is hot and spicy and they can't walk away from each other. The story between these two is a lot of fun to read and the way they keep each other on their toes kept me engaged and laughing along with the characters. This is a must read!!

So.. I've realized something about me.. at this point in my life, I really don't like the daddy k1nk. It's just not my thing, and it pulls me from the story. I've read stories where I'm aware of it going in, and I don't hate it, but when it appears by surprise, it really kind of wrecks things for me. I enjoyed the overall story. I'm a sucker from a bodyguard/protectee love. I loved their instalove, fast-paced, action-packed adventure. My heart ached for Charlie when it came time to go home. I just struggled every time the word "Daddy" appeared 🤦♀️. Like I said, this is very much a me thing, so if you like the daddy thing... check this one out.

Second book in the series and I can’t wait for the next one. The steam has been raised up a notch, but there is still a story under it all.
