As a regular non-fiction reader particularly in leadership, human performance, and maritime safety, I often find corporate leadership books falling into one of two traps: either drowning in dense academic theory or relying on flashy, superficial shortcuts.
Balance Beyond Binary avoids both. It doesn't try to be fancy; it is simply a genuine, well-crafted, and practical read. From a production and reading perspective, it gets the fundamentals right. Concise chapters, clean spacing, and clear, straightforward language make complex management dilemmas easy to digest without diluting their substance. It’s the kind of book you can read smoothly, yet you'll frequently pause to note down key ideas.
What elevates this book to a strong read is its candid perspective on the human element of leadership. Bjorn Hojgaard doesn't write from an unassailable executive perch. Instead, he openly shares the quiet, heavy realities - periods of doubt, feeling underprepared, going home feeling low, and navigating 'dark valleys' where progress feels slow and painful.
