This was overly gory and gruesome - but also kind of sweet and romantic? I’m not much of a horror fan typically, but I will read anything A. Atkins writes - so here we are, with me actually enjoying a horror short 🤷🏻♀️
Eviscera by A. Atkins ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Standalone * Horror * Erotic * Gore * Unhappy Housewife * Mediocre Husband * Secluded Home * Body Horror Transformation * Visceral * 26 pages
I recently found out one of my 5 star authors writes under a different name for her horror books, and since I love horror, of course I had to dive in.
I started with Eviscera, a short 26-pager that absolutely did not disappoint. You’ll get resentment, dissatisfaction, horror, gore, and maybe even… love? All packed into so few pages, yet it somehow leaves you completely satisfied.
Without spoiling anything, here's the premise, our FMC is trapped in an unfulfilling marriage. When they move six hours away to a run-down farmhouse, something dark begins watching her from the shadows.
That’s all I’ll say, but wow! I finished this story shocked and smirking. It’s equal parts sweet and gruesome, and I kind of adored that balance.
I feel like I just got off a roller coaster. The energy radiating from this book is insane. This short horror erotica was an intense, wild ride from start to finish.
All Mira wanted was to be seen… well baby. Someone was watching.
A. Atkins’ writing DRAGGED me in instantly and refused to let go. I cannot wait to see what comes next in this series.
This was an explicit, horrifying, and emotional novella. Any summary of the story would not do it justice-I went into it blind, and that's what I recommend you do too.
A.Atkins will always be a must-read author for me, no matter the genre (or the visceral nightmares I may have after reading!)
A quick and easy read - not really much to say except the author did well to cram in so much detail, and it passed 30 minutes while I did the school run 💀
Body horror is not usually for me, but this was outstanding. Beautifully written and somehow equal parts gruesome and sweet? I don't know how that happened but sign me up for more.
Married to a self-absorbed man, forced to move into a lonely house with no neighbours, Miri begins to notice strange things happening in the house. Spiders keep popping up, she sees mazes everywhere she looks, and her husband has found himself incurably ill… and Miri realizes she just may have finally found someone (or something) to see her… only they’re hidden in the shadows.
A. Atkins’ short story horror writing is INCREDIBLE, and Eviscera is no exception! This short erotic horror provokes a visceral reaction & emotion from the reader - like they could read out and touch the monster lurking in the shadows of Miri & Cal’s new home.
Eviscera has it all: loneliness, discomfort, gore, erotic gore (😈), and, of course, a monster. It’s a wild and delicious ride!
You already had me at A. Atkins (you know how much I love Them Bones), but throw in a horned shadow beast and a spooky vibe and I was 1000% sold 🙌🏼
𝙇𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝙖𝙩 𝙢𝙚, 𝙒𝙖𝙩𝙘𝙝 𝙢𝙚…
For only 26 pages, Eviscera packs a serious punch. Miri is a bored housewife stuck with a mediocre husband who decides to sell the house and move them to a secluded new home. Things get weird fast…starting with hubby’s oozing spider bite 💀🕷️
I laughed, I cringed, I was grossed out, surprised, in awe. I even related to Miri in a tiny way 🤷🏻♀️ And that ending? Just perfect 👌🏼
There’s a reason A. Atkins is an auto-buy author for me - damn, she can write anything! I can’t wait for more 🖤
