This isn't the type of book that I would typically seek out....
First of all, it's supernatural. It's in the title (or sub), which isn't my bag. Also, I felt old because I wasn't 100sure what a CLURB was. Yes, I'm so old that I don't know younger people's lingo. I suspected it was a club.
Also, I liked the cover.
A 'me thing' is that I'm not a huge supernatural reader. BUT this book made the supernatural so satirical and absurd that I enjoyed the fact that it didn't take the supernatural aspect too seriously. It made me laugh. LITERALLY LOL (meaning out loud)....
The first part of the book is getting to know the authors. I love how writing in first person gives the writer creative license and freedoms to do whatever they want.
I adored both Phrique and Asher. Now when I see them comment back and forth on FB, I just think 'AWWW HOW SWEET'.... They made their characters shine and very likeable. It was fun. As a writer myself, I know that just because they wrote these characters as themselves, it wasn't an entirely true reflection of themselves. I did very much appreciate the author notes at the end, especially Ashers fessing up to how she truly does POOT often. So their personalities did steal the show and the spotlight. I would like to thank both authors for inviting me (a reader) on their fictional journey.

Ever laugh so hard you queef?

This book was a hilarious, raunchy, meta good time. I can only imagine the fun Asher and Phrique had writing it. Both of their personalities are on full display and fucking SHINE in this amalgamation of debauchery, nightmares, and friendship.

🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕
5 out of 5 fuck yous to Dorian Gray.

This was a PLEASURE to ARC read.

Phrique and Asher are besties. They just work. But they've gotten into an argument and haven't seen or spoken to each other for a bit. While on their bestie break up, both of them have found a man. They're both content with their man but they miss each other.

Club Hedonia is just about to open and Asher decides to text Phrique and invite him out. Bury the hatchet once and for all. They meet at the club and instantly reconnect. They're having a blast until the start seeing things. Weird things. Strange things. On top of weird things happening, they have a bone to pick with the owner of the club, Dorian. Will they make it out alive? Or will their blood be shed all over the dance floor?

If you're looking for a fun time, this is the book you need. Having Phrique and Asher be the main characters was genius because these two are so funny together! With Phriques' unique style and Ashers' raw humour, these two are extremely entertaining! I loved the monsters. Sexy monsters too! Also, some smutty time which I re read a couple of times while giggling. So many jokes and laughs, you can't go wrong with this! But the friendship that spills out of these pages is truly the main event. An excellent job done by them both

This book is like being drunk-texted by your most unhinged best friend at 2 a.m. and then realizing the texts are actually a whole damn novel.

What happens when two messy best friends, a centuries-old maybe-monster boyfriend, and a brand-new nightclub collide? Absolute madness, that’s what.
Phrique & Asher drop you into a world that’s equal parts horror, smut, and meme-worthy chaos. JJ (bougie, dramatic, perpetually distracted) and Asher (horny, hilarious & unfiltered) are besties who can’t help but roast each other even while their lives spiral into supernatural nonsense. Their banter is nonstop, their sex lives are unfiltered, and their love both platonic and otherwise, feels as raw and real as the gore splattered across the page.

At the center is Dorian: mysterious, old-world, way too hot, and maybe not as human as he seems. Between his sketchy “psychedelic” business venture and his uncanny healing abilities, you know something’s off. The club opening is less about dancing and more about unleashing monsters both literal and metaphorical.

Yes, there are werewolves, vampires, zombies, and enough spider imagery to make your skin crawl. But honestly? The real monsters are burnout, bad exes, and your own messy brain. Somehow, this book juggles laugh-out-loud absurdity (bathroom confessions, meme tangents, fart jokes) with genuine commentary on identity, friendship, and survival in a world that doesn’t make sense.

It’s horror. It’s comedy. It’s raunchy romance. It’s a fever dream you’ll binge in one night.
Because in the Clurb, we’re all monsters. 💜💚

This was such a fun story! I love the combo of horror and comedy. JJ (Phrique) and Asher are both hilarious, both as the characters in this story and as the real writers. I also thought the Dorian Gray storyline was neat. The shifting between past and present tense did throw me off at times. But overall, such a fun story! And I absolutely love the Trashy Supernaturals cameos in this story. Definitely need some more crazy stories featuring JJ and Asher!

“Baby, if I’m not VIP, I’m not there. I bring the party wherever I go." I don't know how I can add any more info about the plot of this delicious book that hasn't already been said. If you know Phrique, and if you know Asher, then you know you are in for a treat. It's also a treat of one-liners. Told in alternating voices by the authors, the lead-up to Dorian Grey's club is a delightful insight into the minds and friendship of these two authors. Even if it isn't all autobiographical (the spiders surely happened?), you are hooked in with two besties and the adventures they weave.

And did I mention there are birds? Bird beak, bitch! The birdie-woman. It's creepy AF! Prepare for the VIP's in the club to be torn apart.

The dialogue of these two really reminded me of a friendship I had with a dearly departed writer so many moons ago. We went to some clubs-err, sorry, clurbs- in the day, and reading this was almost like revisiting those many moments with my friend. Obviously we didn't battle any strange creatures at the clurb- but Phrique and Asher really got inside my head in the best ways. I think it'll get me writing a story myself about those days. And I know it's a fictionalized version of themselves, but the themes of abandonment issues, particularly from Asher's voice, really resonate.

This was a fun read, and I am expecting- no, insisting- that a sequel be on the horizon. Because these two work very well as a collaborative team and need to explore this dynamic again soon.

”We are getting SO McSued! It’s the motherfucking Queen! Or the mother! Or whatever!”

"Our lips meet in a tender kiss straight out of a whole-some romcom."

"I'm Paris. I'm a werewolf. My girl Gina, she’s a vampire.”

“I swear I swallowed some spider bits. I need to vomit and take a long ass shower.”

“Dick really is the root of all evil.”

"I ain't Fievel, bitch!"

And who can forget "Lord Cunt Nuggets!"

If you asked me to classify ITCWALM, I'd prob just froth at the mouth, scratch at my scalp til I touched skull, and my eyes would spin in their sockets like a slot machine. Phrique and Asher have created quite the smorgasbord of gory, slimy splatter and whip-smart irreverence. Ex best friends (Asher and Phrique starring as Asher and Phrique), decide that enough time has passed and its time to reconnect, and with the opening a new local club, Club Hedonia, it's decided that this is the place to pass the olive branch. Well, as with the opening of any new club, you gotta wait til the canary has made a pass. Unfortunately, these two jumped the gun, cuz this place is ain't what it seems!

Through a flurry of raunchy horror comedy, eloquently written smut, colorful characters, and of course, Club Owner and love interest Dorian Gray, Asher and Phrique ping-pong rapid fire one liners and body fluids off each other until they are blue in the face and balls. Though the banter can sometimes feel like inside jokes and personal experiences, I found that it actually added to each of their lores, making them even more charming and likable. Both author's prose braid together effortlessly, like peanut butter and jelly or your Grandmother's brain and a Long Island Iced Tea

Oh, please stay for the ending, ending credits. Assholes lol and I mean this from the bottom of my heart.

Do you know that Blade rave scene, where everyone’s having a great time and then all of a sudden things go bonkers? Think less vampires, more monsters.
Asher’s pulling things out of her bra, Phrique’s flipping his hair, both ready to face the chaos.

It all started when Asher decided it was time to make up with her bestie and invited Phrique out to a new club in town. A club owned by their boyfriend!
And it didn’t take long for things to get very trippy and violent. Putting their friendship to the test!

Now, when Asher asked if I wanted to read the ARC, I wasn’t expecting to laugh as much as I did!
The banter between these two is just insane. Not just them constantly taking the piss out of each other, but also the use of pop culture references and well known names in the horror community, made this book even funnier.

It definitely takes the friendship trope to a whole other level, and I’m here for it!

But I do have a couple of things to say…
First: TMI!!!
Second: For someone who’s afraid of birds, that avianesque woman will haunt my dreams forever.

Thank you to the authors for providing a review copy.

It's been a hot minute since I had this much fun with a book. I was already familiar with both authors' previously, so I had a good idea of what I'd be getting into. I love that this pair of real life besties wrote a book together. You can tell that they had a blast writing it, and I really felt like their individual personalities shined through. It's funny, it's action packed, and the clurb really is full of monsters. 4.25 stars
