Altius: The Scent of Victory Book Two

Rate this book
Some wounds can’t be healed alone. Some heights can only be reached together.

Morgan Van Daal hates three things: dealing with her omega biology, compromising her work commitments, and waking up in hospitals with missing memories. When a medication mix-up leaves her sidelined, her pheromone guru boyfriend and four maddeningly attractive neighbors step in to help. They might also be the only ones who can get her through her upcoming, unwelcome, and unavoidable heat.

Between uncovering a sinister threat targeting the football team, enduring workplace harassment, and watching her job prospects crumble, Morgan must decide whether to maintain her fierce independence or risk her heart on five men who see her—scars, migraines, temper and all—as their perfect match.

Altius is the second book in The Scent of Victory trilogy, a slow-burn contemporary Omegaverse Why Choose romance (MMFMMM) featuring medical drama, professional challenges, and a resilient heroine learning that true strength sometimes means accepting help. This emotionally complex romance offers authentic disability representation and a found family journey that will leave readers breathless for the finale.

I absolutely love this series!

We pick up right where we left off in Citius. Morgan is dealing with changes in her hormone levels and medication mix-ups which allows Cal and her neighbors to all step up to help take care of her. She is also considering how she wants to handle her upcoming, unwanted, and unavoidable heat, but she isn't sure that she is ready to take that step with Pack Redmond because they might read more into it. On top of all that, Morgan is still trying to discover what is affecting the pheromones of the football team and dealing with harassment in the workplace. Can she learn to let down her guard around these five men who might all see her as a perfect match even when they can also see her faults?

I absolutely adore Morgan and I can 100 percent relate to how she does what she can to take care of the people she cares about because she knows that taking care of and being around her can be difficult at times. I love how she and Kelsey have to navigate changes to the lifestyle that they have perfected over the last decade and how we can see both of them struggling and having doubts about the changes. I was so excited to see so much character growth from everyone! I think that Morgan and Owen are inevitable and they will be absolute dynamite together.

I really enjoyed the pacing of this book and how the chapter POVs shifted. I think that seeing certain scenes from specific POVs was important to not only know what that person was thinking, but also because we get more information when that character does. I also really liked the glimpses into more of the specifics behind designation science. I love that the author really thought about some of the intricacies of how various factors could affect different designations' hormone or pheromone levels. I'm definitely a science nerd so I really enjoyed getting those peeks into it.

Morgan's POV and inner monologue really resonated with me. As part of the invisible illness community, it can be difficult to weigh how different activities could impact your body. Sometimes you have to decide if something is worth doing despite the time that you may lose recovering. Also, it can be difficult to always be viewed as "sick" or "fragile" and can make you really feel like a burden on your family and the people around you. I felt like Morgan's inner monologue really captured those feelings of what it is truly like living with an invisible illness and I absolutely loved it.

Another thing that I really liked was that this book didn't feel like it was just a filler. There was definite progress made on many of the storylines including Morgan's relationships with the guys, the pheromone research surrounding the football team, and the evolution of Cal and Morgan's working relationship with Redwing. Sometimes, I feel like books in the middle of series can feel like there's a lot of pages and not a lot of progress, but that is definitely not the case here. While none of the storylines are completely wrapped up yet, I think that each storyline had a good amount of progress.

I continue to be so impressed by Greer Hudson's writing. I cannot believe that this is the first series and I am anxious for more. I cannot wait to read Fortius, but then I also hope that we get more stories in this world. I really want Kelsey and Jacobi to get their own happily ever afters!

This an ARC review in exchange for an honest review, Guides honour ✌🏻

WELL,

This was a fantastic follow up to Citius. Our cliffhangy was resolved quickly thank goodness. And we see massive progress on character growth from everyone. Markedly from a certain aloof fellow whom I wish to see more of in the future 😉. Also, pacing is prime, details are just detaily enough and we get some even better insight into designation science which is really fun for the nerds in the back (it's me, the nerd).

The heat 🥵🥵 oh me oh my!!

We are blessed with multiple POVs again and they are well timed and thought out. Seeing certain scenes unfold from the lens of whos chapter it is adds the little *muah chefs kiss* because they really hit different than if it was just Momo.

Speaking of Morgan, there's a slight weight off her shoulders as she adjusts to being able to unburden herself onto multiple people instead of just Kelsey (a significantly difficult journey I know, to go from relying on yourself to others) and the guilt associated with Kelsey being her main caretaker. She's slooooooowly able to let herself be taken care of as the care she gives others feels more reciprocal.

As usual, our invisible illness rep is *strong* I feel very buzzed by it and how realistic our beloved author writes these things, especially on internal monologue. The reader is given a window into what it's like to question every little thing that will negatively impact you and then how you sometimes go "fuck it, worth it".

I was fed by this addition but am also starving for the events that are to unfold in Fortius.

Altius is the second book in a trilogy by Greer Hudson.

Just as her first book, this was wonderfully written. She writes her characters with depth, longing, courage and a bit of spice. I enjoy the setting she uses. With sports, sports medicine, rich assholes etc. It’s very modern day, with a strong will intelligent main female lead who stands her ground. The alphas and beta in her pack are beautiful inside out and just as emotionally complex. The romance, the yearning, the honest communication, chefs kiss.

I highly recommend you read this if you’re looking for a more complex version of omega verse with an organic slow burn. 🔥

Please please don’t make me hate Cal with that ending or make me wait until January 😭😂💕

I'm really torn about this book. On one hand, I love what it's attempting. It's complex, with flawed characters and a rawness that feels so real.

On the other hand, sometimes that complexity becomes confusing, and the flawed characters aren't always likeable.

This is such an ambitious trilogy for a new author, and I absolutely applaud Greer Hudson for making the attempt. But I struggled to enjoy it.

Morgan isn't particularly likeable, and I struggle to see why her many boyfriends are even attracted to her. Honestly Owen - the other serious workaholic - feels like the only good match for her.

The smut seemed more clinical than anything, especially once the book dived into (and fixated) on her need for lube.

The scenes I found most compelling were the sports games where pheropass was being tested. I think if this is all the book was about then I would have enjoyed it a lot more. I like a good sciencey mystery, and I feel like Greer writes it well.

Will I finish the trilogy? Yes. Will I reread it? Probably not. Will I give something else by Greer a try? Probably yes.

3.5 stars rounded down to 3 for Goodreads.

I really like these books and the characters. But this one was so long, that by the time that last cliffhanger line on the last page hit I couldn’t remember why THAT mattered. 😭

Note: very minor spoilers for Citius.

One of the things I loved about Citius is how realistic the characters are. The MMCs are smart and successful, but also have issues (dad bods, financial hang-ups, weird scents, etc). Everyone has a past and while we weren’t given all the details in book one, everything felt cohesive and consistent. And I’ve talked about how Morgan is my favorite FMC because she reminds me of myself in a lot of ways, including the struggles with chronic and life-changing issues.

So I had high expectations going into Altius, of which I was lucky enough to get ARC for free in exchange for an honest review (and in case anyone was curious, there were no qualifications on that, unlike stories that have been shared about other authors who require people to sit on lower ratings until after the release).

Verdict: Absolutely adored Altius. Could not think more highly of it. Pretty sure I love it more than I love Citius.

Normally I write reviews as I’m reading the book. For Altius, I accepted early on that I wasn’t going to be able to pull myself out of the story for long enough to do that effectively, so it would take at least one reread.

Yes, Morgan’s self-hatred can be frustrating at times, and I wanted to shake her. But I wanted to shake her because I’ve *been* there. This is how someone with 10 years of trauma and nowhere near enough therapy behaves. She acknowledges that it’s unhealthy and it does appear to be getting better, thankfully. And it’s true to her character.

It was such an “*ohhh*” moment when we got shown proof of how different Morgan’s assumptions could be from reality. Her mood swings are also *super* realistic, as someone with mental health conditions. And her tendency to go to the worst case explanation of things, particularly with assumptions that bad things are always her fault.

Like I said, though, she’s getting better. She’s leaning more on her men, without losing who she is as a person. And having them isn’t a panacea, and that’s also nice to see in a romance novel. Supportive relationships (and sex) can make things better, but they don’t fix every underlying problem. That takes time, and work, and there are many authors who seem to forget that.

She’s also more than just her trauma. She’s smart. She’s determined. She’s loving. She takes care of the people around her. She’s a ball-buster in the best way. And there’s at least one scene where she’s an undisputed badass.

Joaquin was an unexpected delight as I was reading. I didn’t think much of him in Citius; not in a bad way, or anything—I just didn’t really have any strong feelings about him. He existed. But God did he grow on me in Altius. He is an impish, devious man and I am *here* for it.

We also get more of Alijah’s backstory, and it’s a tearjerker. Nothing that’s unbelievable, and there’s plenty of real-world examples of it, but it’s still heartbreaking. And he has the most delightful relationship progression with Morgan. Like, “I was kicking my feet” levels of delightful. He’s just so pure and patient and wonderful and he has Morgan’s back when she needs it.

Wyatt also steps up a lot. I respect the choices he made to leave Morgan alone after the accident; she told him to stop talking to her, so he respected her boundaries. That’s a *healthy* attitude to take. And now that he’s back, he’s just a short handsome king who wants to do everything in his power to make his scent match happy.

Cal remains wonderful. Early on, we get a great example of how people can have conflicting motivations, and it can make sense for one person to be upset with another, but for the second person not necessarily to be wrong. And that’s something I feel is often missing from romance books; instead, there’s someone designated to be right, and someone designated to be a jerk.

Owen. My beloved Owen. So ND coded, but in a subtle way (in that him being ND is never called out in the text, from what I recall). He’s just…a dumbass who doesn’t understand how to deal with people because his brain doesn’t work like theirs does. And it’s so satisfying to see him get called out and decide to learn to be better. It’s also satisfying for him to be the world’s most dedicated heat facilitator, and I wish you all as much joy with that scene as I found. And he provided the greatest moment of the entire series so far, and I won’t say any more than that. Except that when you get there, you’ll *know* what I’m talking about.

I also loved most of the secondary characters we either met, or we got to know better. Morgan’s family, friends, and colleagues, for instance—Grace and Jacobi’s friendship with Morgan was a particular delight. Rory was also a shameless rascal, and for the first time in my life I wanted to tell an author what minor activity to do with their secondary character (he gets a 3D printer and is, like me, trained as a mechanical engineer so he has to make one of the fun 3D printed gadgets. He just does). That’s what I mean—I want to engage with even the secondary characters because they feel like real people to me.

And when I didn’t love them, I *hated* them (I think I called one of them a dick out loud in my empty room as I was reading).

A lot of the plot is rage-inducing, but that’s because it’s exactly how it works in real life, from what I’ve seen. Sexist people exist in places of authority, institutions cover their asses, and people get screwed over when they don’t deserve it. I wanted to scream at times, but only because I was so invested in the characters. Thankfully, Morgan takes nothing lying down, and all of the MMCs support her in that (which led to aforementioned greatest moment). And do their best to help her without overstepping. And it’s just wonderful to read.

I’m sure Fortius will have a light at the end of the tunnel. Even here things don’t seem hopeless. It’s set up for better things to be on their way.

Now if anyone needs me, I’ll be rereading that amazing Owen scene from now until the end of time (and by that I mean January).

A beautifully written poly romance that blends emotional depth, realistic struggles, and swoon-worthy connection.
I absolutely loved this book—it’s everything I hope for in a reverse harem story, and so much more. The author has done something really special here: she’s woven in real, often-overlooked medical and mental health challenges in a way that feels grounded and relatable, never sensationalized. It adds so much authenticity to the story and makes the emotional stakes feel incredibly real.
What truly sets this book apart, though, are the guys. In the reverse harem genre, it can be easy for the love interests to blur together or fall into predictable roles, but that’s not the case here. Each man is fully fleshed out with his own voice, personality, and relationship with Morgan. They’re all unique—not just in how they love her, but in how they support, challenge, and grow alongside her. As someone who sees a bit of themselves in Morgan, these guys honestly feel like the dream team: emotionally available, respectful of boundaries, and never trying to “fix” her—just there, loving her as she is.
The group dynamic is another major strength. The poly elements are handled with care and clarity, giving space for emotional connections to develop naturally without forced jealousy or drama. There’s genuine chemistry and affection not just between Morgan and each of the guys, but within the group as a whole. It’s the kind of relationship-building that makes you believe in the possibility of a shared love like this.
Morgan’s character growth in this installment is raw and beautifully portrayed. Coming out of the first book, we get to see her navigating the slow, often frustrating journey toward reclaiming her independence. Her progress isn’t linear—there are setbacks, doubts, and incredibly relatable moments of vulnerability—but that’s what makes it so impactful. Her strength doesn’t come from suddenly having it all together; it comes from continuing to move forward, even when it’s hard.
As for the overarching plot, it’s unfolding at a perfect pace. The tension is building steadily, with just enough mystery and intrigue to keep me guessing. I genuinely have no idea how it’s all going to play out, and I love that. The balance between emotional intimacy and external conflict is spot on—it never feels like one overshadows the other.
This sequel didn’t just meet the high bar set by the first book—it exceeded it. It deepens the emotional arcs, strengthens the bonds between the characters, and pushes the story forward in all the right ways. I laughed, I got choked up, and I didn’t want to put it down.
If you’re looking for a reverse harem/poly with heartfelt representation, character-driven romance, and genuine emotional payoff, this series is an absolute gem. I can’t wait to see where the next book takes us—because I’m fully invested in this journey, and this found-family dynamic has completely stolen my heart.

*ARC received for free in exchange for an honest review*

I loved Citius after having put off reading it for quite a while. I loved it so much that when it finished I was absolutely desperate for the sequel and immediately signed up for an ARC of Altius. Overall I enjoyed it but it wasn't quite the slam dunk of Citius.

It started off slower than I was expecting from the cliff-hanger in Citius. Expectation leads to disappointment and all that, but it didn't feel very climatic and for the first 25% of the book it's like the romance and story slowed down drastically from Citius. (even worse, as if we were undoing the relationship development from Citius). Nearly started to skim read.

After that it got significantly better, the pace returned and the romance turned cute again. Back to the cozy comfort that Citius provided (I will only be accepting nose compliments from now on). There are quite a few subplots going on at the same time, which echoes the slice of life approach that Citius took with of course the ramp up at the end. I also enjoyed that the plot continued to develop beyond just romance.

I love how all of the characters are flawed but in a very human way, they aren't morally grey or bad boys/girls, they're just good people who aren't perfect. It's a refreshing change from a lot of other books and makes the characters feel a lot more alive.

The spice level ramped up in this one, which means lots of scenes with foreplay and the guys looking after Morgan's comfort. I like that it's not easy for Morgan unlike how sex is usually depicted in books.

I'll update the review with more specific reasons why this book just didn't quite hit after it's release, but to sum it up I didn't enjoy how Morgan's heat was handled in the context of (the lack of) relationship development between Morgan and the guys. There was also a disproportionate amount of time spent on Cal compared to the others, it's fine in the first book to slowly grow the harem but to continue this trend in the next book makes the other guys feel almost insignificant.

The last 30% really pulled through though, it was pretty much everything I'd been hoping for in terms of plot and relationship progression. It's a shame Altius didn't quite soar to the heights I was hoping for but I'm still excited for the next book.

3.5 - 4 stars - difficult to rate with how split this book was

Very nitpicky update:

I continue to be impressed by Greer Hudson.

Both Altius and Citius were a breath of fresh air to me. There's just something about her world and the story she's chosen to tell that feels new to me, and I read A LOT, so that's very important to me in a reader experience.

Altius picks up right where Citius left off, so the transition from one book into the next is very smooth.

In Altius, we get progression on all fronts: Morgan's relationship with all of the guys, including Wyatt, an update on Morgan & Cal's working relationship with Redwing, and how the situation they're investigating Northport U is going.

Hudson doesn't leave a stone unturned, so even though none of those situations are "closed" by the end of book two, there's decent movement forward with all the plot points that I had questions about. Sure, that means there's going to be a lot to wrap up in the final book, but her pacing felt very seamless to me, and I liked that there isn't the feeling of anything being rushed for the sake of satisfying the reader's curiosity.

As far as the characters go, I really enjoyed getting to know them more.

One of the things I like most about Morgan is that she's not completely easy to like. She's got some sharp edges, and for sure, some of them are jagged, but Hudson does a great job of balancing out her broken and sometimes bitter pieces with helping the reader understand *why* Morgan acts or speaks a certain way. For me, understanding her makes all the difference.

Fans of Wyatt, Cal, Joaquin, and Alijah are going to be very happy with Altius, though those rooting for Owen are still going to have some fun too. Hudson definitely built in more steam this time around, which, I mean, we all love, but what I like even more is that we get to understand all of them much better, I think, than in book one. She's creating well-rounded characters, with flaws and all, and I'm really enjoying it all.

It's difficult to believe that this is Hudson's first series. As a whole, the writing is pretty d@mn clean, the character development and plot pacing are well executed, and for the love of god, I love that her book titles are unique and defy the standard *insert the word knot* tradition that has just swallowed the genre whole.

I know there's one more book left to fully seal the deal, but as of right now, I'm looking forward to where she goes next after Morgan's story because I'm totally along for the ride.

🔖Altius by Greer Hudson follows Morgan Van Daal as she navigates the lasting medical complications from her accident in book one, along with the uncertainty of building a new life outside her sister’s care. Locker room drama unfolds when pheromones appear to be weaponized against the football team, while Morgan faces harassment on the job and the growing worry of her scent-matched mate’s unexplained illness. This is book 2 of 3 in The Scent of Victory trilogy, where romance tangles with mystery and Morgan learns that independence isn’t always a solo act.

I fell in love with Morgan in book one, and book two only deepened that connection. Too often, stories about disability or chronic illness frame love as something that “fixes” a character, but Greer never takes that shortcut. Morgan will always face serious medical challenges and need care in big ways, yet she also fights for her independence and maintains a successful career. Instead of erasing that reality, Greer gives us a group of men who love her exactly as she is, and who are strengthened by her in return. As someone with chronic health struggles myself, I saw so much of my own experience in Morgan, and it meant everything to see a flawed, complicated heroine who proves you don’t need to be fixed to be loved. Altius delivers what so many of us with chronic illness need to hear—you don’t have to go it alone.

❤️ If you are missing the steamy STEM and mystery of Dream Girl by Jane Handler, you will flip for Altius!

I recieved this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

This book was an absolute WONDERFUL continuation of the first book's cliffhanger. Greer Hudson definitely knows what she is doing when she writes these characters with such depth and personality.
In Altius, we see more of Morgan trying to move forward in her life as her medications are changed, her fellowship is getting close to being completed as well morgan meeting some men she enjoys being around (a whole pack and then some), it makes for a book full of multiple different point of views with many instances for laughing, crying, smiling and everything in between.
One thing I love with this series is that as with the first book, this second book had me completely engrossed in the storylines of Morgan, Owen, Cal, Wyatt, Joaquin and Alijah. I loved it all so much i couldn't put it down.
I felt that there was a lot more back story in Altius for Morgan as well as more opportunities for personal growth for all the main characters; especially Morgan. With Morgan and the Pack living across the hall from one another, we see more of the "key" pack dynamics being created and formed between each of them. It is so amazing to watch it almost as if it is in real-time. The pacing for this book is on point and yet again, does not disappoint in anyway.
I am thoroughly looking forward to the third book! January cannot come fast enough.
Honestly I will always and continue to refer this book to anyone who enjoys Omegaverse or RH books.

This story develops so beautifully, at the end of Citius, I was so in love with Morgan and her pheromone stud, Cal, total relationship goals. I wasn’t sure how I felt about the others, but omg! I fell in love with all of them and Morgan softens, opens her heart a smidge and finally feels those emotions she’s locked down for so long.
Joaquin, all sultry smirks, prowling towards Morgan and Alijah.
Alijah, with love language of caring and cooking, who then has this naïve flirtiness that just wriggles away until it’s in your heart.
Owen, the most difficult to crack, the man who doesn’t understand emotions, but his workouts with Morgan and that moment when her heat broke and he was there!
But this book was Wyatt, who never feels like he has a home, who just needs someone to love him.
The spice levels from Citius are like going from a country drive to a formula 1 circuit and it was incredible. The story tore my heart apart and I’m not sure that it’s been put back together, cos the ending made it stop. There is something wrong with the athletics department at the university and it comes to a head at one of the games, Morgan’s health remains an issue, but there are bigger things happening to both her and Wyatt. I wanted to cry in frustration and despair at the ending. The politics of family, work, professional ethics and colleagues runs through the whole book and this was so true to life in both the good and bad parts that happen to us all.
In short, I absolutely adore this book and this series and I really, truly need to know what happens next.

Once again, I ended up devouring this book and didn't stop reading for much! I really enjoy the characters' personalities, really like that it wasn't insta love like some omegaverse books (nothing wrong with it but the slow build up is more fitting for this series!) and I'm enjoying the slow development of the relationships. Morgan is definitely held back from persuing a pack by her own trauma and seeing her slowly grow to trust and rely on the men, it's wonderful! Each of the love interests brings something to the table/pack, none of them feel flat; they are fleshed out well. The plot keeps me interested throughout and has me looking forward to the next book already too. Can't recommend this series enough if you pay attention to the trigger warnings.

It was great to see Morgan bond more with Alijah and Joaquin as a duo in this, previously being cautious of them being a mated duo. I love her moments with both individually and as a couple together, it's a nice mix of dynamics between them. Morgan and Owen still have a way to go but that is due to Owen not knowing how to express himself properly which I'm looking forward to seeing develop. Morgan and Wyatt get their redemption in this which is fab to see and loved seeing them get their second chance all over again before the accident. Cal is steadfast and charming as always, their relationship is as solid as ever. Looking forward to the moment when Morgan says yes to the pack as a whole!

DNF @45%. Omegaverse.

The two books i’ve read deserve somewhat of a review. The first book had me intrigued. Not only for the potential pack and the individual characters, but also the ‘mystery’ and Morgan’s trouble at functioning daily life and work. By the end of book 1 I felt a bit meh, but was interested enough to start book 2. In the beginning book 1 was a bit too science-y for me, I guess. Was wondering if this was a book I would enjoy. Fortunately, it focused more on daily life and pack so i kept going. After finishing book 1, i hoped book 2 would have more chemistry. I also hoped Morgan would be less of an asshole. Both didn’t happen, imo. Morgan became even more assholery; she didn’t want the guys, but she wanted them for her heat, what did she think would happen? I felt for Wyatt; the ‘on again off again’ mixed with their history and bond? Sometimes I don’t understand the dynamics of women being assholes and shrugging it off and men being assholes and needing to beg on their knees; it feels immature and not very self aware. Anyhow, book 2 Morgan goes into heat and… i felt bored by the way the author chose to write about it. It’s supposed to be about mindless passion, wanting more more more and not giving a fuck about who sees who’s d*ck and just filling h*les; that’s not the vibe I got from the scene. It all felt a bit too separate and clinical. And, as i said, then the complete 180 on Morgan behavior after… i feel for the guys and i was done as a reader.

I'm rating this a 3.75 of 5

Altius continues Morgan's story with quiet focus and emotional clarity. The pacing is slow and intentional, which works well for a character navigating trauma, memory loss, and the complexities of pack relationships. This isn’t a plot-heavy book, but if you’re interested in character-driven Omegaverse stories with emotional nuance and slow-burn relational development, Altius offers a thoughtful continuation of the series. Some of the issues I noticed in the first book are still present here; there are a lot of character names to keep track of, and a few plot threads that don’t seem to go anywhere.

The reverse harem dynamic (MMFMMM) is still unfolding gradually, like real relationships, with an emphasis on trust and emotional safety. There’s no dramatic shift or instant connection. It's just a steady, sometimes awkward progress toward mutual understanding.

Hudson’s approach to disability and recovery feels thoughtful. You can tell she’s trying to portray Morgan’s experience with care, even if some moments land more clearly than others. Morgan’s challenges aren’t glossed over, and her growth isn’t treated as a victory lap. It’s more about learning to receive support and rethinking what strength can look like in the long term.

This was a great second book in this Omegaverse trilogy. She has progressed the relationship with all of her suitors and we saw her go through her heat with the boys. There was more drama and ill treatment of her and other Omegas at the university and especially with the horrible head coach. We also saw her and Wyatt dealing with more health aspects leading from their scent matched status. I thought the romance aspects were quite swoon as each beau had a different way of wooing her. The spice really ramped up both with the heat and with lots of intimacy with the various men. I am eager to read the final book as I loved all the characters and the intricate plot.

4.5 rounded up

We're back with the second installment in the Scent of Victory series. The series follows Morgan, an omega, a doctor, and former Olympian 10 years after a catastrophic vaulting accident left her with a traumatic brain injury and a host of ongoing health complications (please see her 3-ring binder collection for more details). The last thing Morgan wanted, in addition to dealing with her omega biological needs, was a romantic entanglement. Is that too much to ask?

I book one, Citius, the handsome strangers across the hall didn't stay that way, all breaking down her walls brick by brick. Including her scent matched mate, Wyatt.

Book two picks up right where we leave off with Morgan again in the hospital and Wyatt determined to do whatever he can to prove he's a worthy mate for her. Then add in a workplace pheromone mystery, sexual harassment from a certified creep, and wooing from a determined beta and his scheming alpha mate and you have a story that will keep you locked in until the end.

I received a copy of this book for free as an ARC reader in exchange for an honest review.
I loved this book - the author has managed to portray medical conditions in a way that feels real but not over the top, and wrote the most amazing guys to help her with it. As someone who has their own quirks - these guys are the stuff of dreams. The guys each have their own personalities that are kept very distinct and clear, making them all stand out and feel unique, rather than blending together into a mob of guys who all want the same girl.
Coming off of the first book, the growth we get to see in Morgan showed the struggles of trying to progress and gain back independence, but stumbling along the way in a way that feels so relatable.
As far as the conflict in the series, it’s building very nicely and I can’t tell yet what the resolution will be - it’s keeping me guessing!
This book definitely lived up to the first and I cannot wait for the following one (anxiously as it once again ends on a note that makes me NEED more).

I love the characters Greer Hudson has brought to life through Citius and Altius. They're real, they're raw, they're relatable and the author's writing talent truly brings them to life (and I'm so looking forward to when Owen gets his time to shine, hehe).

The writing is just beautiful. Sure, sometimes I want something fluffy and 'easy' to read, but all too often in the omegaverse genre I'm hungry for something more like Greer's writing: something rich with descriptive depth that loses me in the passage of time.

There are ups and downs for Morgan and the guys through this second book in The Scent of Victory. Lives are changing in massive ways and I'm so eager to see what Fortius has in hold for everybody (including us readers)!

I highly recommend this series to the omegaverse tried and true, to RH/poly romance lovers and readers looking for chronic/mental/invisible illness/disability representation. It is all of these wrapped in the prettiest of ribbons.

Thank you, Greer Hudson, not just for the ARC provided but for writing these beauties at all! Haha.

Absolutely obsessed!!

I loved Citius and I have been eagerly awaiting Altius. This book did not disappoint at all.

The story was engaging and I loved how the characters are developing and how the relationships are progressing. The characters are relatable and there is so much depth to them that you can really resonate with their emotions and experiences.

The portrayal of Morgan's illness is really well written, as are the discriminations against women and people deemed 'lesser' because how they were born. The book tackles real world issues in a way that really highlights the struggles faced in real life.

I am still in love with all the characters and I love both Morgan's big family and the MMCs. I have a softspot for Ethan despite knowing the least about him but I cannot wait to find out more from him.

Fortius cannot come quick enough!

WOW. What a ride! Altius picks up right where Citius left off and delivers on character growth, sizzling chemistry, and seamless worldbuilding. Morgan continues to evolve, learning to s hare her burdens while still keeping her sharp edge, and the representation of invisible illness is written with such honesty and care that it hits deep.

The multiple POVs add richness, the spice is turned up in the best way, and the relationships feel real, supportive, messy, and incredibly alive. The pacing may start a little slower, but once it hits its stride the story soars, and the final act is absolutely unputdownable.

Greer Hudson is killing it with this series. Five stars, and I cannot wait for Fortius!

More Omega, more testing, more heat

First off, I absolutely love this series. I love that this is not your typical Omegaverse but has those elements and a lot of new challenges that I haven't seen before.

We definitely get more information about what's going on with our Omega and Wyatt. We also get more about the issues with the testing and the pheromone bombs.

The spice in this book is so. I love seeing how everyone's relationships have evolved and become stronger. I'm so excited to see what's next and see how this finalizes. This book left us on another cliffy and I seriously need to know how this comes all together and I need answers.

Altius is the second book in the Scent of Victory series by Greer Hudson. You definitely need to read book one before this one. We continue to follow Morgan and all her boys. This is a slower burn book; there are spicy times but we get a lot of relationship building which I enjoyed. We really get to learn about these characters as they learn more about themselves. I am so excited to see where the story goes in the last book and what other stories could be told in this universe. Go read this book now!

This series has been one of my absolute favorite reads of the year! Altius was a phenomenal second book, and I honestly can’t get over how good it was. The relationships are beautifully written. It's mature, heartfelt, and refreshingly adult. I especially loved how the FMC and MMCs communicate so openly and honestly with each other, which makes their bond feel so real and powerful. Without a doubt, one of the best RH stories out there!

I was so excited for this arc! Now I dont know what to do with that ending!! lol. I really enjoyed this book. I love the characters, im enjoying the plot and I love reading about omega who aren't typical omegas. With the meds, tbi, and the after effects of the injury, Morgan has a lot going on. I love her character though! I cant wait to see what happens next!

👋 ARC reader

This is a great book. For those who read Citis this will be everything you hoped for in a book and you will be salivating for Fortius.
You can expect a rather quick resolation to the cliff hanger (thank goodness). Lots of chericter progresssion on all fronts. Accurate depicting hidden illness. And best of all, oh so much spice!
Seriously, move this to the top of your TBR!
