The trials were just the beginning. The Jaguar Kingdom may be her end.
Kinsley barely made it through the Spirit Trials. She didn’t even finish them properly, and yet, her spirit animal revealed itself—late, unexpected, and impossible. Because her jaguar isn’t ordinary. It’s a corporeal jaguar—soul-bound to the King of the Jaguar Kingdom. And his jag just claimed hers as its mate. Now the enigmatic king has come to claim her.
Thrown into a world of shadows and ceremony, Kinsley must endure the ancient rites that will prove she’s worthy to stand at his side. She never asked for this path, but she refuses to bend or break. She’ll prove to the Jaguar Kingdom she has what it takes to be their queen. But beneath the gilded rituals and whispered oaths, something is stirring in the jaguar court. Secrets coil in the dark, waiting to strike. And when the truth finally comes to light, Kinsley will learn just how dangerous it is to be bound to the King of Jaguars… and just how far he’ll go to protect what’s his.
If you like paranormal romance set in a fantasy world and males that are fiercely protective of their mates, this series is or you. This is a closed-door romance series with fade-to-black scenes. Each book in this trilogy is full-length (80,000+ words) and features a different couple. Each book can be read as a stand-alone but is best enjoyed as part of the series.
A. J. Manney lives outside of Philadelphia with her husband and four kids. Some of her favorite things to do include reading, family days, being a pastor's wife, and watching football on Sunday afternoons with her family
Wow, didn’t expect all the twists and turns. Kept me reading way into the night. Love the ending….something to look forward to. Characters are excellent and the plot moves at the perfect speed. Highly recommend.
As an ARC reader, I absolutely devoured Spirit Rites. I finished it in just three hours because I genuinely couldn’t put it down.
AJ Manney has such a special way of writing characters that feel real and layered. Kinsley’s journey in this book was beautifully done, and even without giving anything away, her growth was one of the standout parts of the whole story for me. It was emotional, powerful, and so easy to connect with.
The pacing was perfect, the writing flowed effortlessly, and the whole world pulled me in from page one. AJ Manney continues to prove why she’s one of my favourite authors.
I’m already counting down the days until Harper’s book...if Spirit Rites is anything to go by, we’re in for something incredible. Absolutely loved every second. 💛✨
I’ve enjoyed all of A.J. Manney’s books, and Spirit Rites was no exception. This sweet, clean romance offers such a refreshing twist on the “shifter” genre—no shifting, but a beautifully unique corporal bond that feels just as magical. Since this is book two, it picks up right where book one left off, and the opening scene had me laughing out loud—no spoilers, but it’s adorable.
I wasn’t expecting the ancient trials element, but I ended up loving it. Watching Kinsley grow—first through the trials and then in the Jaguar Kingdom—was so satisfying. Our sweet, good-hearted Kinsley truly steps into the queen she was always meant to be. And the found family dynamic between Farrah, Kinsley, and Harper continues to be one of my favorite parts of the series.
The ending, much like the beginning, had me laughing again. And now I absolutely cannot wait for Harper’s story. She may wear that tough-girl armor, but underneath, she’s fiercely loyal to the people she loves. I can’t wait to see her walls crack and watch her fall in love. Book three is going to be so good.
Thank you, A.J. Manney, for writing clean, fun fantasy/paranormal romances. They’re truly my favorite.
Kaldar, king of the jags, and Kinsley get their story! I could not put it down from the moment it popped up in my kindle app! Spirit Rites by A.J. Manney picks up right where Spirit Trials left off, and if you are familiar with A.J.Manney’s romantasy and pnr books, you know the stories often dive right into the action and adventure. Spirit Rites does just that, and oh boy, is it a whirlwind!
I always enjoy Manney’s books, but this one just might be my favorite. Kaldar’s love and dedication not only to his people but to Kinsley as well was top notch, combined with the challenges and obstacles the couple are presented with right away, and then the mysteries and intrigue surrounding the jaguar kingdom kept me captivated. But I would be remiss if I did not mention just how much Kinsley grew throughout the story. From a member of the banished community to queen of the jaguar nation, she had to overcome so much to learn how to stand up for and defend not only herself, but the rights and safety of an entire nation.
Filled with twists and unexpected turns, their journey will lead you on an emotional roller coaster to the much anticipated happily ever after. Grab your copy today! I was given a complimentary copy. Thoughts and opinions are my own.
Spirit Rites follows the story between Kinsley and Kaldar. While I enjoy a fierce warrior like Farrah and even a snarky one like Harper, I find the gentleness of Kinsley as most relatable. She's soft in the best ways: kind, genuine, and compassionate BUT we also got to see her evolution as she was forced to step into a bigger role. She took a confusing and scary new situation and walked with such grace.
I loved her relationship with Kaldar (and the fact that she was crushing on him even back in book 1) but I think what really drew me in with this story was just the transformation of Kinsley herself as an individual. She moved to a completely new place where she had to learn all new traditions surrounded by people she didn't know and wasn't sure she could trust. Seeing her learn to trust herself so she could be who she needed to be was inspiring.
I highly recommend this book and cannot wait for Harper's story to come out next!
Well, this book certainly wasn't what I expected, but it was certainly a pleasant surprise. This story completely drew me in. The world-building is incredible—you can really feel the richness of the setting. I loved watching the relationships between our two main characters unfold, and seeing Kinsley grow throughout the story was so satisfying after the previous book. The glimpse into an alternate culture within this world was fascinating and the story start to come alive. And that cliffhanger ending? Perfect. I’m left buzzing and can’t wait to see what happens next!"
A. J. Manney writes such amazing, imaginative worlds. I really enjoy immersing myself into the places she create. Kinsley is a lot of fun, and watching her come into her own is beautiful to see. And Kaldar… well who doesn’t love a man who’s willing to lay it all on the line for his mate? ❤️
Although this was not my favorite of her books, it’s still very enjoyable and I can’t wait for the next installment! I have a feeling Harper is going to give us all a run for our money! 😂
Spirit rites was so good! Less violent then the last book but still packed with action. Kinsley's journey and self discovery was so fun to follow and the Jaguar kingdom is so magical i just want to go there to see the sights and more importantly eat the food. Kaldar and Kinsley were so fun together and i cant wait for the next book!
Really loved Kinsley and Kaldar. She is such a sweet woman with a feisty personality and a backbone of steel she has no idea exists. The two of them together are just to perfect and the cast of characters run the spectrum from funny to grumpy with a dash of evil thrown in. Super fast read for me but totally enjoyable story.
I enjoy this series and loved book 1 5 stars… this book 2 I though the beginning was a little weak and something just seemed to be off the whole book long.
Book 1 had the main three working together and book 2 seemed to be missing something still enjoyed it…and really looking forward to book 3 and Harper
A.J. Manney has outdone herself with this series. It is so good. It is full of high intensity adventure at every turn. The creative world of magic and animal shifting is unique with a different spin from other authors. Epic characters, with closed door romance. I highly recommend this book.
I love this story, love how the women are so strong and how the man backs them up, but still protects them, allows the women to find out how much they can do on their own. They show what love and a relationship should be like, let the women have their own voice but still submitting to their men.
If you love sci-fi stories with some romance and laughter thrown in then this book is for you!!! You definitely should read the first one in the series before you start reading this one…although it’s a standalone it is better to understand the full back story by reading it in order. You get a better understanding of the friendship between Farrah, Kingsley and Harper.
Loved as usual! I really love this series so far because of the world building, it's a little different than her others but I think truly a great storyline. I'm a sucker for a protective MMC and Kaldar does not disappoint. I really enjoyed watching Kinsley coming into her own though too.
A.J. Manney has pulled us into another world and I am loving it! The journey, trials, and love story for Kinsley and Kal in this book was done beautifully. I can’t wait for book 3.
The Spirit Trials were supposed to reveal the spirit animal of the participant, but life gets into the way and stuff happens. Very fun read. Where's the next one?
This second book was excellent. Mystery, clean romance suitable for YA readers, Intrigue and wonderful characters. Nail biting situations. Love the ending, especially where it involves Harper.
I've been anticipating this book coming out. It did not disappoint! So thankful for an author that writes with such passion. This book has it all...Excitement, romance, suspense, and passion! I highly recommend reading this book!
A.J. Manner sure know how to write a wonderful story. I loved the first book in this series and this one is no exception. Very much looking forward to book 3.
