This book takes the sayings that we throw around so commonly ("he has an ax to grind", "a bolt out of the blue," "bite the bullet", "catch 22" etc.) and tells kids exactly what we mean when we say these things. Plus they create a tiny story where each phrase is used in context. The stories are all illustrated with fun cartoons. Soren loved this book and spent the next few days utilizing as many phrases as he could apply to things that happened around us. I was impressed at how quickly he "got the sense" of them.
The only thing lacking is the origin of these phrases; I wanted to know how these sayings came about.
