The Accardi Twins #1

Le roi désabusé de New York: une dark romance mafieuse (Les jumeaux Accardi t. 1)

Rate this book

Sauf que mon nouveau patron me gâche mon plaisir.

***4,5 "You're my forever!!!" stars***

"You terrify me, Gia... The things I feel for you terrify me."

I Love the Mazzone Mafia world and I was anticipating the Accardi twins' stories for a long time!!! And they are finally here and I like that Siobhan Davis had add both twins in an interconnected duet... Yes, in the first part, we got to see Joshua Accardi and Gia Bianchi's story, and I can not wait to dive into the second part that is Caleb and Lili's story, but both books are interconnected with a background story and I love the idea behind that!!!
Gia and Joshua were pure fire together and their story was intense and very suspenseful!!!

"Attachments are not my thing. Love will never be something I indulge in again."

A new war is brewing in New York and the five ruling families are trying to find ways to face this new threat... Don Joshua Accardi is proposing a way to get into their rival's nest and Gia Bianchi is the girl for this task...
She needs to seduce the enemy and to learn his secrets, and Gia is very excited to be part of this mission!!!
But things are changing rapindly when her boss is starting to take her protection very seriously...
Everyone knows that Joshua Accardi is a coldhearted mafioso because of his ex's betrayal, but Gia is lighting a fire inside of him, a fire that has the ability to burn them both alive!!!

"She's fucking beautiful. How have I never noticed before?"

I loved Gia and Joshua very much!!!
Joshua had a hard exterior, but he was a softy from inside... He was so caring and protective of the people he loved!!! Yes, he had been hurt in the past and that betrayal made him stay away from most women, but Gia had made him feel things that he had long forgotten...
Gia was such a spitfire!!! She was sassy, she was strong, she was fearless!!! She was the perfect match for a man like Joshua... These two were the perfect match!!!

"You soften all my hard edges and make me want to be better for you."

Their story was very captivating and everything that were happening around them had me on the edge of my seat...
What will happen next??? How will be their future???
And what about Caleb and his Lili??? The girl that he loves and he had kept in arm's length for so long??? The girl who was always loving him, but whom had hurt so deeply???
I am really dying for their story!!!
I adore this world so much and I want Mrs. Davis to write more and more stories placed in here!!!

"She needs to forget about Caleb Accardi. He's not the one for her." {Gia talking about her best friend, Elisa}

This is the first book in a duet, and my word, what a mindblowing start this story is!

Joshua is the Don of the Accardi family, one of the Five famalies in New York, but a betrayal changed him to become a cold hearted, contolling, and poweful man, who has sworn off love, and living his life by his self-imposed rules.

A brave and ferocious woman slips through his walls , making him feel things which he has not felt for a long time, and challenging him at every turn.

This is a well written action packed story, which has family, friendships emotions, complex characters, danger, suspense, intrigue, palpable chemistry, challenges, and leads to a mindblowing page turner.

I look forward to reading the conclusion of this brilliant duet, and I highly recommend this talented author's work.

There were way too many side characters in this book and I mostly just found it confusing 🤨.

I’m gonna move right on to the next book in this duet only because I’ve come this far.

The Accardi Twins are here! And oh my goodness are they oh so delicious! I have a particularly ravenous fervor when it comes to Siobhan Davis’ mafia world. Gritty, adrenaline packed, edge of your seat entertaining, yet somehow resplendently romantic and swoony. I just can’t get enough of her mafia! And the Accardi Twins are everything I’ve come to adore from this world. They are edgy and alpha, sexy and domineering, but also deliciously dreamy and loving. I am wildly obsessed with both Joshua and Caleb! Cold King and Cruel King are addictive page turners- rife with mesmerizing characters, gripping mafia intrigue and action, titillating spice, and heart wrenching emotions.

Cold King gives us Joshua and Gia’s story. And if you love well-researched mafia stories with teeth, this one is the pinnacle. Siobhan beautifully marries a complex and layered story of deception and revenge. Siobahn loves a tough, bad-a heroine, and Gia is as fierce, dangerous, and courageous as they come, and I loved a heroine who saves the day as a mafia spy. A true equal, she can stand toe to toe with not one Accardi twin but the entire mafia world. This story is masterfully woven, with a mafia-suspense and danger-heavy twisting storyline that juxtaposes to a sweet but spicy romance.

I adored Joshua, but oh my did Caleb steal my heart is Cruel King. The brash and more reckless twin turns out to be the most epically swoony mafia book boyfriend in this win-her-back/prove his love story with family friend Elisa. I actually adore the softer mafia heroines, and Elisa is more gentle and vulnerable than the fierce Gia, but I love the power she finds as she finds her confidence and demands the right treatment. The opposites attract, she falls first but he falls harder magic of this one OWNED me. And holy hotness, what a delicious v-card losing journey. Meow. And the full circle moments that resolve the mafia elements carried over from the first book were fabulously entertaining.

Both books must be read in order since there is a broader story arc, so a true duet, even though each focuses on a different couple. Fast paced, sexy, and packed with tense and magnetic character chemistry, The Accardi Twins duet is yet another yummy addiction from the always brilliant Siobahn Davis. I cannot wait for more from this world!

Oh my goodness. So good. If you're a fan of Sophie Lark and her kick butt females, you will love this one. Gia is now one of my favorite mafia heroines.

Gia is a rookie spy who's being sent on a mission to get close to a rival mafia leader. And by close, I mean close. In the mafia world, there's still some pushback on women having roles, though.

Don Joshua Accardi, though, kinda believes that she can be sent. They've known each other for years but haven't been close.

When she's spying, though, she's expecting to get close to her mark. Not to get close to Joshua. Joshua is super cold to love, though, having been betrayed by the person he thought he was going to marry.

There's some high stakes in this book. Being a spy is dangerous work, and Gia is in a precarious position. And being a Don is no easy task, especially when there's moles to be found.

This is a continuous storyline, though. I mean, you could read it as a standalone, but to understand Joshua (and his brother, Caleb), you really need to read Mazzone mafia.

Oh my word, this book is hot, angsty and full of so much well everything mafia that you can’t help but be sucked in.

I love me a feisty heroine and Gia is one heck of a strong, independent woman that you just knew Joshua didn’t stand a chance. She is everything he didn’t know he needed and she pushes his boundaries at every turn letting him know that she will not be played with.

Joshua is a mafia Don who thinks he knows what he wants in life. He works hand in hand with his brother and they are on top of the world, until his world is knocked on its axis and he has to rely on Gia to help find the answers they need.

I am beyond anxious to read book 2 because things definitely took a turn and are about to get crazy!

YES! YES! YES!

Siobhan holds nothing back in Cold King of New York. This is a phenomenal start for the Accardi twins.

Cold King of New York sets the stage and pace for this heart-pounding duet. From the very start, this story grips you and never lets go.

Siobhan truly knows how to create depth to her stories with her uncanny writing style. Her characters are multifaceted, and it becomes so easy to see things from their POV.

This story just flows perfectly as everything unfolds but also adding more twists and turns at the same time. Siobhan blends the romance in perfectly but never pulling away from the true plot of the story.

Cold King of New York is high intensity the entire time and keeps you right in the thick of everything.

I cannot wait to see how this all plays out in Cruel King of New York.

Cold King of New York by Siobhan Davis was a sensational mix of sexy, dangerous and emotional. Joshua and Gia's adrenaline filled and emotionally charged love story took me on a rollercoaster. If you love a strong and bada&& heroine, Gia will be in your must read list. I love how Joshua was equally protective and supportive of Gia. Give an alpha antihero who worships his woman while letting her live on edge..and I am sold!

The New York mafia families are facing a deeply troubling issue. Someone is stealing their drug shipment and they suspect it's one of the traitor in their Irish Mafia alliance. They cannot prove it so they need someone to go undercover. To seduce Liam McDermott and get incriminating evidence. Gia is from mafia family and she is among the few trained female informant agents. Joshua Accardi, one of the Dons of Accardi family is the one running everything. It is a very dangerous mission. And Joshua is finding his fascination and attraction for Gia to be a trouble. Will Gia put herself in some serious danger for sake of her family? There are several trigger like trauma, graphic violence and sexual assault so read responsibly.

I love when mafia romance comes with a very strong FMC. Gia isn't just any mafia daughter. She is a lethal weapon. She is the edgy combination of beautiful, sinful and fatal. She is highly confidence and has a razor sharp mind. She isn't afraid of anything and keep a very calm mind in face of trouble. I have such a girl crush on her! Think Charlie's Angels or Black Widow in the Avengers. Joshua may be the alpha but Gia challenges him at every step. He has hidden his dark sides behind his legitimate business and the world sees him a successful billionaire in suit. But he is actually quiet ruthless and explosive when needed. I loved the combination. Gia had to seduce the enemy and it was driving Joshua wild in worry and jealousy. But he never ever tried to control her mission or undermine her decisions. If he was angry or upset, it was because he cared deeply for her. He has been heartbroken years ago and he let the resentment and bitterness rule his heart when it comes to falling in love again. He just didn't realise it until Gia forced him to open himself. Their chemistry is scorching hot. Joshua was the alpha when needed and when Gia needed someone to hold her broken pieces together after getting abused and almost killed..Joshua was there at every step. The action and suspense was so good. The plot was fast paced and full of twists and I was completely lost in it. I cannot wait to read Caleb's story.

Meh Didn't Feel Real

The Green Pill of Toxicity Strikes Again.

So, Irish bitch here, grew up in Ardoyne, Belfast, so lets say, I'm pretty clued in when it comes to Irish attitudes towards this kinda malarky.

Anyway, I kinda don't care watch happens to Gia, given she joins in and allows what she allows.

What does she allow?

Well, the first thing that groups of men agree on, when they ally up to fight other groups of men, is that what the soldiers do to "their" women, doesn't get touched, because they are fighting wars.

I have the stats of Belfast sex crimes, ans West Belfast, the home of republican and loyalist paramilitaries, only has a fifth of the sex crime convictions that each other area of Belfast, each one had more than five more than West Belfast.

Anyway, Gia lets "other women" get raped by the soldiers around her and her boss will let it happen too. This is what hierarchial men must allow.

So its kinda hard to empathise with her and its like, she is trained to traumatise, why do I care when she gets traumatised back?

Oh, because the human resources asshole in her life, has decided he likes to have an emotional whipping boy as a partner.

Morally Green Patriarchial Parable.

Snorefest.

So remember, able bodied neurotypical unseen, unsexed and unloved women, every time you call them a groupie, a puck bunny, or "other women", you lament men can agree to dehumanise certain types of women, usually hypersexual neurodiverse women whom the dehumanisers actually target. When you write that, you join Gia in the Sack of Sexism.

I read A-LOT of Mafia books (it's one of my favorite romance tropes) and Siobhan did an amazing job at introducing us to each character with background + description. She gave us a great plot to follow, very clear and obvious in what you thought. But WHOA!! Talk about plot twists and turns. I was devasted and hooked. Where I thought something would happen…. but whether it was the result or the event was different to what I thought. Which, I feel like Siobhan excels at; she always keeps my on my toes lol.

Dual POV, trigger galore and twisted as all hell, Gia, Joshua and la famiglia aim to wreak havoc on the people that decided to betray them. Sit back, grab a glass of wine (because trust me, you’ll need it), and get ready for a bumpy ride my friends! You’re in for a treat!

The Cold King of New York (The Accardi Twins Duet Book # 1) by Siobhan Davis is a gripping, unputdownable read. As a fan of  Siobhan's other mafia books, this one stands out with its badass and super-intelligent female lead, Gia Bianchi. Gia is assigned to work with Don Joshua Accardi, a ruthless alpha hole, for a high-stakes undercover mafia mission. Their budding relationship might endanger them since there's a snitch hiding in plain sight.
Siobhan masterfully weaves a complex web of love, loyalty, murder, and mayhem, making this book a page-turner.  THAT ENDING! I can't wait to start reading Caleb's story in The Cruel King of New York (The Accardi Twins Duet Book # 2), which is out now!

Cold King of New York is the first book in Siobhan Davis's The Accardi Twins Duet and is Joshua and Gia's insanely addictive story.
Cold King of New York is an incredible, action filled mafia romance that will hook you from the very start and with every twist and turn there is plenty going on to keep you entertained and just like me you'll be unwilling to leave this addictive world Siobhan has created, especially with that cliff-hanger!
I absolutely loved the characters in this book, Gia is a total bad@**, I absolutely LOVED her, I wish I had a little bit of Gia in me! And Joshua is just as amazing as Gia, he may be a Don but he will do anything and everything for the people he loves and there is a secret soft side to him that made me fall even harder.
I truly loved Cold King of New York, I could not put it down until I devoured it all and I cannot wait for Caleb's book, because if it's anything like Joshua's it's going to be spectacular, especially with the glimpses we've seen of Caleb and Elisa.
Cold King of New York is pure dark and steamy goodness with a forbidden aspect that you will not be able to get off of your mind no matter how long it's been since you've finished it! And I cannot wait to see what happens next in this addictive duet.
I received an ARC of Cold King of New York and I am voluntarily leaving my review.

Wow this book definitely brings the action and twists as we get a dangerous mafia mystery with some fabulous romance sprinkled in. I was definitely entertained by this book and cold Don Joshua. I always love seeing a cold man thaw and the fiery Gia is the only one that do the job. There's a spy and handler relationship aspect that I loved as it added a smidgen of forbidden to this tale. And if you're a fan of take no prisoners heroines...Gia will fill your up. Her strength and resilience is so admirable while she somehow keeps her big heart present.

I knew it would be a 5⭐️ even before it was written.. a bit much ? I don’t care , I was waiting for the twins to have their HEA. And I’m not disappointed..
Maybe I’m biased because I absolutely love Siobhan stories , and because of her I have a hard time reading other contemporary romance …

It’s not a light book, even if it’s a spin off and can be read as a standalone I highly suggest to read the original series to have all the background stories.

As always with Siobhan the plot is super solid , she took care of the romance and the storyline of the plot with twists and a cliffhanger that I didn’t see coming 👀 and the romance is emotional with a hot new book boyfriend.

Yes, It’s a page turner. I loved it .

The "Cold King" lives up to his name and I'm dying for more. This had been a long awaited book and it lives up to my expectations. You have the mafia, a possessive hero, beautiful heroine, and broody males that make this a story you will not want to put down. The story will keep you entertained with its twists and turns. The main characters have such an intense chemistry that will make you wish someone will look at you that way. There is great flow to the story from beginning to end and I loved the characters. One thing that I didn't like was it was kind of hard to follow the action scene but it didn't deter me to much. Everything about this book will keep you guessing and I cannot wait to read book 2.

This is a shining example of why Siobhan Davis writes my favourite mafia romance books. This book has it all. It's full of action and twists and turns and had me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

Joshua and Gia are the perfect match. I always knew Joshua would fall hard, and I was not disappointed.

Joshua definitely brings the swoon in this book!

Gia is the perfect leading lady. She is strong and defiant and can take care of herself and is equal to Joshua in every way.

I always knew this Duet would be phenomenal, but this book has blown me away, and I cant wait for Calebs book.

Cold King of New York by S. Davis is the first book in the Accardi Twins Duet. The fitting introduction to characters and storyline.
Gia is assigned to the brother of an irish mob boss. Joshua is the head of la familigia. A dark swoony mob story that gives all the feels, raw and gritty, heartwrenching. Deserves all the stars, excellent written and thought out.
A fantastic first book in the duet.

TITLE: Cold King of New York
GENRE: Dark Romance
AUTHOR: Siobhan Davis
TROPE: Dark Mafia
TYPE: Series (The Accardi Twins Duet Book 1)
POV: Dual POV
MY RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5

⚠️ Check trigger warnings; this dark content is for +18 readers.

Admittedly, mafia romance has not been my go-to read lately. Still, I have been enjoying the change of pace, immersing myself in the Accardi Twins Duet and Siobhan Davis's mafia world. Gia is fierce as she takes on the role presented to her by the organization. Gia's strength immediately drew me in. Joshua is one of the twin Accardi Dons and Gia's handler while she is on this mission. Joshua was unprepared for the all-gown-up Gia, whom he had known since they were kids.
I was not prepared for that cliffhanger, even though with a duet, I knew there would be one leading into the second book, Cruel King of New York. I am looking forward to devouring the second book as soon as I can get my hands on it. I am giving a rating of 5 / 5 Stars.

I didn't really know what to expect with this spin off series, but MAN, the action never stopped! Joshua is all grown up, and even though his heart is now hardened, he can't help fall for Gia, who keeps surprising him at every turn. When an undercover operation grows increasingly more dangerous, so do their feelings for one another. With these two working together, can they uncover who is behind all these nefarious actions while staying alive? Or is love the most dangerous thing to them both?

I would definitely recommend heeding the trigger warnings, but this is just an insane ride! So much happens, and that cliffy was just brutal! I can't wait for Caleb's book and see what happens!

I do wish we spent some more time with Josh and Gia as a couple, as opposed to just dealing with their mission, but I understood why it's set up that way. I can't wait to see more of them in Caleb's book!

I was super excited when Siobhan announced that the Accardi Twins aka Joshua and Caleb were getting their own duet. I was so curious to see how they would turn out as adults.

We first got glimpses of them in the Mazzone Mafia world that Siobhan created (wonderful series that I highly recommend you read first - it makes the story even better getting the past history).

Siobhan Davis did not disappointment with the first book, I read it in one sitting. I couldn't put it down. Joshua used to be a sweet kid but grows up into a cold man who, while he loves his family and brother has shut his heart to love after he was betrayed as a teenager by who he thought was the love of his life.

In this present world the Mafia in NY has become more open to letting women take a bigger role and in comes Gia. Gia who happens to be the daughter of Joshua and Caleb's Step Mom best friend and grew up with Joshua but Joshua never gave her much thought until she is brought in to seduce the enemy.

I loved that Gia is a strong feisty female lead and not a door mat. She bites back and isn't afraid to say what is on her mind. Joshua had me swooning with how protective he is of Gia from the start. They had great chemistry that I enjoyed. Developing feelings while on a mission can be dangerous but it didn't stop him from being there for her and their journey to love takes us on a roller coaster of ups and downs and OMG moments and reveling a big mystery that I did not see coming.

Siobhan writes some of the best twist and turns and I love how she is able to create this massive amazing world I never get bored with and want more and more from. I highly recommend giving this world a try and I can't wait to read the second book in this duet and see how Joshua twin Caleb story goes. We get hints of it already in this first book and I have a feeling Caleb is going to run away with my heart just like Joshua did.

Holy mother of God!! This book was amazing.. but hold on to your pants because this one takes us on a roller coaster ride.. it’s no secret that Siobhan is one of my favorites and this book is no exception. This is book 1 in the duet.

Joshua is the Don of the Accardi family, one of the Five famalies in New York, but a betrayal by a woman he trusted has made him a different person. It has made him to be controlling, cold and someone who has given up on love and relationships.

Joshua knows Gia through his mom and he's only ever seen her as a little girl, but now she’s a grown woman. Joshua tries to keep Gia at arm’s length but she gets through his defenses. She makes him feel again which he has not had happen in a long time, all while she was still challenging him.

This story had it all…. It is layered, complicated, and had so many twists and turns as any Siobhan book does. It keeps you reading and it is an utter page turner. I couldn't put this book down.

I have also listed to the audiobook as well and overall enjoyed the performance. The narrators for this book were Noel Harrison, Ramona Master, and Sarah Puckett and overall I enjoyed it. Noel is a new to me narrator but I loved his deep voice. I do think he sounded a bit older, a bit less emotional than I expected and might be better suited for suspense or thriller, but still a solid performance. Ramona and Sarah were very good and Sarah is one of my favorites.

Please read the TW as this has a few……I can’t even wait to read Caleb’s story and book two in this duet. another Siobhan masterpiece 🖤

My favorite of the two Accardi twins. I loved Joshua and Gia! Their dynamic felt so fresh.

Joshua really was a cold king but it really was bc he was a softy lover boy at heart. I did get annoyed with him at times because it'd been nearly a decade since the betrayal went down. I didn't like that he let Bettina get to him for that long. However, I LOVED everything about his confrontation with her.

Gia was such a bad ass bitch, omg I loved her. She was so fucking resilient!

There are some major triggers so proceed with caution... I'm usually not a fan of these instances, but it was really well-done.

The dialogue felt a little juvenile at times, but the story was done well enough it didn't ruin my experience.

I’m not sure what I was expecting but this wasn’t it. Maybe because I hadn’t read the other mafia books in this interconnected series so there were a lot of characters that I was getting confused with but I don’t think I will go and read the rest or wouldn’t picked up this book as the mafia aspects I just didn’t enjoy. The plot line and writing style of it just wasn’t for me. Joshua and Gia I really liked their soft enemies to lovers in the beginning but it flipped super quickly so it was more acquaintance to lovers and there wasn’t any angst so after a while I just found it a bit lack lustre and ended up just reading the dialogue for the remaining 35%

Siobhan's books are usually a knock out the park for me, but this book sadly didn't do it for me it didn't live up to expectations of it being a Mafia romance, I didn't get to see full Mafia side of story and I tend to like that.
Another thing was that I didn't feel the chemistry between the main characters it felt unnatural and forced, there was no sexual tension in their interactions, no angst, it just fell short of what I expected and I eventually dnfed it.
But I love Siobhan as an author, they way she writes and wringes emotions from me through her books so I'm not deterred and I will continue to read her books.

Dang, a gentle body respecting, consent, and considerate MMC just for the FMC in a mafia romance hits different. I like how Gia has a backbone too in conversations, especially about women in the gang. Other than that, the plot kinda bored me a bit and the dynamic was meh.

Also I gotta say there's something about the female vs female altercations that happen in this that is just highschool-esque and whiny.
