The Great Apes of Belle Vue: ... their role in a Franciscan calling.

Rate this book
Belle Vue Zoological Gardens in Gorton, Manchester was a magical theme park that drew visitors from all over the world. After training in mental health, the author was appointed ape-keeper in the closing year of the zoo.

His experiences of communication with Gorillas, Orangutans and Chimpanzees led David to set up charities working with vulnerable people, become a negotiator and adviser to governments and community safety agencies, prepared him to become the father of a child with severe learning difficulties, led to his role as community coordinator on the team that restored a world famous monastery and in time led to his ordination as an Interfaith priest.

Years later, David is using what he learned to help build a Belle Vue inspired future for his home city - but this time animals and humans will live in mutually beneficial ways that honour the sustaining earth.

This is a book about life and the universe that has the power to change your view of who you are forever - and leave you better for it. Enjoy!
