The Pendragon Prodigy is everything I look for in a fantasy novel richly imagined, emotionally resonant, and utterly immersive from start to finish. It’s not just a story about magic or destiny .it’s about two very different souls thrown together by fate and how they rise to meet a darkness greater than themselves.

Kira and Revel are unforgettable protagonists. Kira, an elf princess with untamed magic, is fierce, defiant, and layered with vulnerability beneath her strength. Revel, a human blacksmith with a mysterious vision, brings a grounded, noble energy to the story that perfectly balances Kira’s fiery spirit. Their chemistry is subtle but powerful, and the slow-burn connection between them adds emotional weight to the plot without ever overshadowing the stakes.

The worldbuilding is phenomenal. From elven politics to ancient prophecies, from dangerous quests to forbidden bonds, every chapter deepens the lore and raises the stakes. The dual-realm dynamic makes the journey feel expansive yet intimate, as we watch both characters confront personal choices that could impact the fate of entire civilizations.

I especially appreciated how the story balanced action with introspection. There are heart-pounding battles, yes—but also quiet, reflective moments that explore identity, duty, and the cost of power. And the ancient darkness that looms over both realms feels genuinely threatening, keeping the tension high all the way through.

This isn’t just a fantasy adventure it’s a story about courage, sacrifice, and the power of unlikely heroes. If you love books that blend emotion with epic worldbuilding (think Fourth Wing, Throne of Glass, or early Game of Thrones), then The Pendragon Prodigy should be at the top of your reading list.

Highly recommended for fans of immersive fantasy, rich characters, and stories that linger long after the final page.

Rooted in legends that we already know, but so much more. Taking this ride with Kira and Revel is one to read over and over. Watching them grow both apart and together is amazing and captivating. I cannot wait to find out what happens next. Give this book several reads!!

I loved every second of this book! This book is full of fantasy and adventure. From elves and unicorns to weaving in the stories of King Arthur, the whole story is captivating.

We meet Princess Kira as she navigates coming of age in her world. Things about Kira aren’t normal as we understand she’s very powerful.

At the same time in the human world Revel is going through an awakening of his own. He’s learning he’s not just the typical human.

Both are on a collision course to find each other. Both dealing with a darkness that threatens them both!

This is just book 1 I know there will be several more books! I can’t wait to see what’s next for Kira and Revel!

YOU HAD ME A CROISSANT

What a fantastic trip this was. Mcnabb has done a wonderful job building this tale, and I'm here for it.
The characters are well developed with wonderfully separate personalities that you easily come to love.
The world build is beautiful, instantly taking you away to a stunningly described fantasy scape.
It was very easy to get lost in this.

Overall, I fully recommend this to anyone looking for a new gateway into a fantasy realm.

I read this book from start to finish on one flight across the country. I couldn’t put it down. The suspense kept me absolutely hooked. And the alternating chapters between the FMC and MMC was so well done. To read what’s happening in two different worlds at the same time was thrilling. And the connection between the two main characters was so well done. Such a great read overall. Fabulous mix of fantasy and romance. Highly recommend!

Let me start this review by saying I have never read a fantasy book, it has never been my genre, but I LOVED this book! Every time I picked the book up I couldn’t put it down!

This story follows FMC Kira through trials and tribulations, new world adventures, heart break and love and MMC Revel as his world does a 180 and he has to cope with things that he thought were not real, while he navigates his own obstacles and trying to understand them, and dealing with his own heart break and love. The author does an amazing job at keeping you glued to the book, wanting to turn the next page, and making you feel as if you are in the story yourself. He does this so well that in certain parts of the book I was sad for certain side characters while also being relieved for other characters at different points. The only thing I did not appreciate about this book is the fact it left me wanting more and book 2 has not been published yet (but I hear it is in the works 👀)

I am so excited to read book 2 and any other book RW McNabb publishes!

One of my favorite reads to date. Author truly captivated the spirit of the characters in a way that made me feel like I was living in their world and experiencing it all first hand. Love the dual POV aspect ! Living for Revels POV honestly !

The Pendragon Prodigy is book 1 of what is hopefully going to be the most epic series EVER. As of March 2026 this is planned to be 5 books and I can not wait for them all to be written and available for my immediate consumption.

Kira is the elf princess from the Fae Realm who meets Revel, a human blacksmith from the mortal Realm. When their paths cross the journey explodes. It is a story of magic, fate and destiny all wrapped together within a world I feel like I can touch.

Can not wait for book 2 The Pendragon Prophecy!

I picked up The Pendragon Prodigy after it was recommended by author Courtney Valenzuela, and I am so glad I did. This book completely pulled me in from the beginning. The world building is rich without being overwhelming, and the story has a great balance of action, emotion, and mystery that kept me turning pages.

The characters felt real and layered, especially the main character, whose journey felt both powerful and personal. I loved how the author blended fantasy elements with deeper themes of destiny, strength, and identity. There were several moments that genuinely surprised me, which is rare because I read a lot in this genre.

You can tell the author put heart into this story. It reads smoothly, the pacing stays engaging, and the atmosphere is vivid. If you enjoy fantasy with strong character development and an immersive plot, this is definitely worth the read.

Highly recommend. Thank you, Courtney Valenzuela, for suggesting such a great book.

This book by R.W. McNabb was honestly so good and completely pulled me in. The world building is dark and immersive, and the characters feel real and layered, not flat or predictable. I especially loved Kira and Revel and how different their personalities are, yet how well they balance each other in the story. The emotional depth really stood out to me, and the relationships felt just as important as the actual plot.

What really hooked me was the tension between the characters, especially involving Revel, and the way the author builds chemistry and mystery around him. You can feel the connection, the danger, and the emotions all at once, which made it hard to put the book down. I’m definitely going to read it again when I have more time because it’s one of those stories you know you’ll catch even more the second time around. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves fantasy with depth, emotion, and a little edge.

My favorite part was one of the later chapters with Kira and Revel where the tension between them finally hits a breaking point. The emotional buildup, the chemistry, and the way it was written made it feel intense and intimate without being over the top. It was one of those scenes where you can feel everything just through the dialogue and energy alone.

What a ride, and I loved every second of it. This is not your typical fantasy story where the posh princess needs a big stone protector to save he. Kira is a badass, and Rival is a sweetie!!! I loved everything about this book and am impatiently waiting for the next.

If you're still on the fence, I have one word for you.....

As someone currently living inside this story as the voice of Bex, I can tell you right now… The Pendragon Prodigy is not just epic fantasy. It’s layered, emotionally charged, Arthurian-laced destiny chaos in the best possible way.

R.W. McNabb built a world that feels ancient and expansive, but still deeply personal. You don’t just watch two realms collide, you feel the fracture lines forming.

Kira is everything I love in a heroine. Powerful. Defiant. Struggling under the weight of expectation while her magic refuses to be contained. Her refusal to quietly accept an arranged marriage sets the tone immediately. She is not here to be small.

Revel balances her beautifully. A blacksmith with mysterious visions and a grounded, honorable presence, he carries the kind of quiet strength that sneaks up on you. Watching him step into something bigger than himself feels earned, not handed to him. Their connection is slow-burn tension done right. It simmers beneath prophecy, politics, and looming darkness without ever overshadowing the stakes.

Now let’s talk about what makes this even more fun for me.

Bex.

Kira’s sassy, loyal, absolutely unfiltered bestie is the kind of character every epic fantasy needs. She cuts through tension with razor wit, stands fiercely protective, and refuses to let royalty get too comfortable. She is the emotional grounding rod and the comedic relief wrapped into one fearless package. Getting to bring her to life vocally has been an absolute gift because she does not whisper her opinions. She launches them.

The worldbuilding is rich without being overwhelming. Elven politics, ancient prophecy, Merlin threads, unicorn bonds, and a darkness that genuinely feels threatening. The stakes climb steadily, and every reveal adds another layer to the mythology. You can feel that this is only the beginning of something much larger.

What I loved most is the balance. We get heart pounding battles and sweeping fantasy elements, but we also get quiet introspective moments about identity, duty, choice, and what it means to defy destiny rather than simply accept it.

This is not just a story about magic and fate. It is about courage. About refusing to shrink. About forging your own path even when prophecy tries to write it for you.

If you love fantasy that blends Arthurian lore with slow-burn romance, layered character arcs, and a found-family dynamic that makes you want to scream in the best way, The Pendragon Prodigy absolutely belongs on your shelf.

And trust me… if this is only book one, we are just getting started.

You’re Either Obsessed… or You Haven’t Read It Yet

R.W. McNabb has completely outdone himself with Pendragon Prodigy. From the very first page, I was hooked and never wanted to come up for air. This book delivers everything I love in fantasy. Rich worldbuilding, high stakes, powerful magic, and characters that feel so real they step off the page.

Kira and Revel are at the heart of this story, and their dynamic is everything. Kira continues to shine as a fierce, layered heroine, stepping fully into her power and purpose. Revel brings depth, intensity, and a grounding presence that balances her beautifully. Watching them navigate fate, destiny, and the weight of everything placed on their shoulders is gripping and emotional. And Kira and Bex? Absolutely the best badass bestie team to ever bestie. The loyalty, the chaos, the ride-or-die energy. #flyingfairy iykyk

The energy of this book is electric. The magic feels bigger, the danger cuts deeper, and the tension is addictive. The supporting cast deserves just as much praise. Every character brings something unique, and it is impossible not to get attached. The dynamics, the banter, and the emotional moments all land exactly where they should. And yes, the villain is absolutely out here doing villain things in the best way. You will feel it.

What really stands out is how cinematic this book feels. You can see it, feel it, and live inside it. That is exactly why I cannot wait for the full cast audiobook to come out. This story is going to hit on a completely different level in audio form.

This is part of a planned five book series, and I am both thrilled and emotionally unwell about it. The wait between books is excruciating. I cope by re-reading this one because it really is that good.

If you love fantasy with heart, power, and edge, Pendragon Prodigy is a must-read. Five stars, no question. I am already counting down to what comes next.

A richly imagined story set many years after the Arthurian legend, this novel uses a dual point of view that keeps everything grounded in character while still expanding the world in meaningful ways.

The character work is one of its biggest strengths. Each perspective feels distinct, and you really get a sense of how events are shaping the people at the center of the story. It is not just about what is happening, but how it affects them. That focus keeps the story from drifting too far into myth and gives it real emotional weight.

The worldbuilding is also very well done. I especially enjoyed the addition of the mythical races and cultures. It strikes a strong balance between what feels familiar and what feels new. The setting unfolds naturally, with layers of history and myth that build over time without overwhelming the reader. It feels lived in rather than constructed.

One thing I really appreciated was the attention to detail in the sword work and combat. The author does a phenomenal job describing how weapons are used, how fights unfold, and the physicality behind each encounter. It adds a level of realism and tension that makes those moments stand out.

The prose leans more lyrical at times, which I know some readers will enjoy. Personally, I tend to prefer a more direct style with less emphasis on heavy description, something that keeps the pacing tight and pulls you straight into the scene. There were moments where the language created a bit of distance for me. That said, when the story stays focused on the core character arcs, it really shines.

Overall, this is a strong, character-driven take on the Arthurian world with compelling perspectives and immersive worldbuilding. I am definitely interested in continuing the series and seeing how the story develops from here.

Okay WOW, The Pendragon Prodigy by R.W. McNabb ate and left no crumbs. This book had everything I wanted: unicorn bonds (yes please), fight scenes that had me on the edge of my seat, and that perfect low fantasy/high fantasy mashup that feels like a mystery you get to solve piece by piece.

It feels like two worlds collide: romance and battle, destiny and choice, all wrapped in Arthurian storytelling. The Merlin themes running through the story give it that extra layer of magic and mystery, making it feel both epic and intimate at the same time.

Kira the elf princess and Revel the blacksmith? Slow burn, tension through the roof, and when it finally gets spicy… chef’s kiss. The whole cast kept me hooked, and the plot was layered with just the right amount of twists and clues.

If you love fantasy romance with action, mystery vibes, and characters you want to scream about in your group chat, this is the book for you. 🦄⚔️✨

The Pendragon Prodigy delivers a compelling take on Arthurian legacy through a modern, accessible lens. R.W. McNabb does a great job grounding the story in familiar myth while making it approachable for readers who enjoy character-driven fantasy and coming-of-age journeys.

What stood out to me most was the way the story leans into themes of identity, destiny, and inherited power without overcomplicating the narrative. It’s easy to follow, engaging, and clearly written with intention. The connection to the Pendragon lineage adds a strong mythological backbone that carries the story forward.

If you’re a fan of classic fantasy elements with a modern voice, this is a solid and enjoyable read. Looking forward to seeing where this story and world go next.

R.W. Mcnabb did something incredible when writing The Pendragon Prodigy. I have been highly considering doing a reread because I miss being immersed in the world he has built. I am looking forward to book two. Kira and Revel took me on an emotional rollercoaster, and now these characters are living rent-free in my brain. If you are interested in romance and fantasy, I highly recommend this book. The world-building is descriptive, detailed, and palatable. I would recommend this book to both seasoned readers in the genre and those who are not. I cannot wait for book 2 as some of this rent needs to be paid! An eloquently written, slow-burning fantasy romance, written by a great author and an even better human.

What can I say? This book is the real deal! The story is wonderfully written. This story is filled with intrigue, Suspense and mystical passion. The author definitely draws you into the minds of all of the characters. You feel everything that Revel, Kira and all of the characters go through to discover their journey from one world to the next. As I turned each page I was drawn deeper into the magical adventure . I can’t wait for the next book — I need to know what happens to Revel Kira and Thorian…. Well done Mr Mc Nabb!!!

Ive been waiting months to finally get this book. It did NOTTT disappoint. Some compare it to quicksilver but honestly, I feel like its better. RW has a totally unique voice and perspective. The setting takes place a few hundred years after king arthur & merlin. You get those references, the magic, the love, just everything. The only downside is that book 2 is still in progress. I have sooo many questions and theories. I cannot wait to see what happens next. Definitely an INDIE AUTHOR WINNNN!!! If you like romantasy, this is a must read.

Really great book. The story pulled me in right away and kept my attention the whole time. The characters were the best part, especially the main character and a couple of the supporting ones. Everyone felt real and had their own personality, which made the story even better.

Good mix of action, magic, and emotion without being confusing or slow. Easy to get into and hard to put down. Definitely recommend it if you like fantasy with strong characters.

This is an epic fantasy-romance adventure about an Elven princess and a blacksmith male human. Forbidden love, forced marriage, intruding magic system and an Alicorn! What more could you ask for in a fantasy book? The world building for book 1 of a series was easy to follow without falling flat. I cannot wait to see even more character development from Kira & Revel in book 2. Definitely recommend this for beginner fantasy readers as well as devoted fantasy readers. Well done!
