Knotty Broomstick

Rate this book
Let the universe guide you, they said. It’ll be fine, they said.

Sure, until you accidentally summon a three-hundred-year-old witch into your broomstick instead of enchanting it to fly. Cordelia may be the worst witch Circe Academy has ever seen and she’s definitely going to be the laughingstock of the entire class when they realize how badly her spell has gone wrong. Except, the ancient witch is more than happy to help Cordelia with all of her needs.

Maybe this mistake won’t be so bad after all.

Knotty Broomsticks is a Sentient Object Romance about a girl and her broom. It is a deeply unserious story with high spice. Suited for audiences 18+

Thank you to the author and BookSirens for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was such a fun and fast-paced read! It hooked me right from the first page and kept me entertained all the way through. In fact, I almost wish it had been a bit longer—the story has so much potential to be explored further. I’ve enjoyed every book I’ve read from this author, and this one was no exception. I’m already looking forward to what they’ll write next!

Okay, let’s talk Knotty Broomsticks 🧹💜✨

This book is short, spicy, and absolutely flying off the handle or… on the handle? We follow Cordelia, a witch 🧙‍♀️📖 who’s powerful but not exactly… in control. Think “oops I cast again” levels of magical chaos. She ends up with a broom that’s got a whole lot more going on than sweeping floors: enter Broomhilde, a broom with a past, a personality, and one very knotty streak. 🌙💫

The setup gives off Hogwarts-adjacent vibes 🏰🪄 (flight classes, school drama), but it really leans into its own lane, like if Hogwarts got tipsy on pumpkin juice, yelled “hold my beer,” and wrote fanfic about itself. 😂🍻

What I loved:
✨ The humor—it’s cheeky, witchy, and not afraid to wink at the reader.
✨ The spice—let’s just say Cordelia’s broomstick isn’t the only thing that takes her for a ride 😉🔥
✨ Broomhilde herself—oddly wholesome for a not-so-wholesome story. Supportive, sweet, and always down to help Cordelia… polish her wood. 👀

What I wanted more of:
It’s only ~30 pages, and honestly I would’ve loved to see more of Cordelia’s magical growth 📚✨ beyond the extra-curricular activities. There are hints of deeper worldbuilding that made me curious (and a little greedy for more).

Overall: If you’re in the mood for a quick, witchy-smutty romp 🖤🧹💜 with a dash of magical mischief and a broom who knows how to sweep you off your feet, this one’s worth grabbing. Not too overwhelming on the spice, but enough to keep your inner smut goblin 👹📖 happy.

3.5 stars rounded up to 4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ because I laughed, I oh-my’ed a bit, and I’ll never look at flight lessons the same way again 💨💜✨

"Ovulation is a bitch" may be one of the funniest and most relatable lines I've read in a while. It was time for another installment of reading sentient object romance, but this time, make it fall-themed. Was this the pinnacle of literature? Absolutely not. Did I have a good time reading it? Absolutely.

Spicy and sweet sapphic romance!
When Cordelia accidently summons a 300 yr old witch into her broom things get magical and interesting very quickly! This was a very short and fun story with our sweet Cordelia struggling with her magic and our confident Broomhilde more than happy to help. I wish we knew more about Broomhilde and that we had some more time with them but they were so cute together and this was a great read!

Not an ARC review: I adore Sabrina Cross' writing, and Knotty Broomstick did not disappoint. The novella is short, sweet, spicy, and fun. I love how well-written all of Sabrina's books and novellas are. So many indie authors struggle with tense, grammar, spelling, and other errors, and don't seem to have a proofreader. Sabrina either hires one or is an expert herself. I can't remember a time I found a mistake reading one of her works. Not saying her works are perfect or pristine, but she's an insta-read for me partly because of her clear writing, and I even own the hard copies of several of her books.
Knotty Broomstick was a great kick of spice the morning I read it, and then I had to go about my day like I hadn't read about a broomstick, a witch, and their love match at 4 am...

I had no idea what I was going to be in store for when it came to this innocent looking book with a cute and clever title. But this was not what I had in mind and very quickly turned into one of those moments where you just can’t look away from. In a very good way. A short, finish in one sitting, spicy novella about a witch in training that accidentally brings her broomstick to life during a spell to make it fly. A KNOTTY novella that is absolutely perfect during this spooky time of the year.

Cordelia is an aspiring witch dealing with her mistakes as she attempts to make her brook fly before her upcoming test. But instead of flying, she summons Broomhilde into the broomstick who declares that he will help her out in school in exchange that she helps him be freed. But as he helps her with her magic, he learns that she is more powerful than she knows to be. Soon, Cordelia feels the need to relieve herself as she hasn’t developed any relationships with anyone else on campus. And Broomhilde is quick to want to take that pleasure.

This is one of those books where you are literally picturing this scenario taking place and you absolutely cannot look away no matter how off the hinge it appears to be. I mean, what can you truly expect from a book where she literally fxcks a broomstick?! But nonetheless, there is a more chemistry building development in this story and perfectly sets up for sequels if the author decides to dive deeper into the story. Absolutely a spicy holiday themed novella that will linger with you for a while in all the best ways. Sabrina Cross has a way of making the most cute and innocent things into a work of smut and I am here for it.

A sentient object romance short story. It was described as a deeply unserious story with high spice.

Cordelia accidentally summons a three-hundred year old witch into her broomstick while trying to spell it to fly. Cordelia makes a pact with the witch to help set her free for some magic lessons and help in her classes at witch school.

You want to know what I didn’t like from this short story? It was too damn short!! It left me wanting to know Broomhilde’s back story - what did she do to get banished into a spirit form from the school. Will they eventually suceed in resurrecting her to her physical form? Too many questions left unanswered!

Thanks to the author and Booksirens for providing me with an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I will definitely be checking out this author’s other books!

Quote: « I didn’t mean to » I start, but cut myself off. How do you apologize for masturbating too loudly? To a broom, no less…
« You realize that’s totally deranged, right? »…
« Eh, deranged is a point of perspective. I think it has the potential to be rather divine »

Knotty Broomsticks by Sabrina Cross is a super fun, short and spicy sentient object romance between a witch and her broom! Yep, you heard me right, HER BROOM! Not just her broom, she accidentally possessed her broom with the soul of a 300 year old witch, which leads us to the sentient object part. And if you think about the shape of a broom… well you can imagine how this goes!

Being under 50 pages, this story cuts right to the chase! It is very fast pace, gets right to the point! And although it is short and fast paced it does still have a good little story to it. I read it in one sitting and honestly really enjoyed the story, the spice was a plus! Who doesn’t love a good sentient object romance?!

If sentient object romances are something you like reading or if you’re looking for something short and different than the norm I would definitely recommend this! This is obviously a great short story to read during the fall/spooky season as well!

Sentient object romance
Magic school

Thanks so much to the author for a copy of the book!

This sexy and sweet novella was so much fun to read. Cordelia, our sweet but bumbling student witch, can’t control her enormous powers and accidentally summons the spirit of a 300 year old witch into her broom while trying to spell it to ride and fly for class.

Ya’ll, the broom vibrates, has a knot and ejaculates a sweet tasting liquid. What more do you need? Broomhilde is also amazingly supportive outside of the bedroom, making sure that Cordelia’s powers are controlled and she’s able to navigate the bullying mean girls of the school.

I really REALLY want a sequel. Maybe something with a double knot? But I need to know more about these characters and how Cordelia develops as a witch and if Broomhilde is ever freed from her stick-ish prison!

Bad at magic

This is my first time reading this author’s work and after reading this I will be reading a lot more from them.
This was a fast paced, funny and smutty story that left me wanting more. I really wished that this story was longer than 30 pages as there is still much more to explore between the 2 characters.

In this story we meet Cordelia a witch who has great power but just can’t seem to get any spells right. While attempting to bewitch her broomstick to fly she accidentally summons and entraps a witch spirit named Broomhilde into her broomstick.
The two of them start to have an interesting knotty relationship. 😜.
I really hope that there will be a sequel to this story as I need to know what happens.
This story is a definite recommend and great for this Halloween season.

Thank you to the author Sabrina Cross and BookSirens for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Not only does Cordelia have magic, she grew up thinking maybe she didnt have magic and was pleasantly surprised to be accepted into a magical academy after coming to terms with being human and deciding to be a veterinarian, but she also has a magical.. knotty.. broomstick! When Cordelia accidentally brings her broom to life she gets more than she bargained for!
I loved reading this short spicy novella, the spicy scenes had me yelling “SABRINA NO” knowing somewhere out there Sabrina was cackling saying, “Sabrina YES” while writing this.
If you want a quirky novella to cleanse your pallet this Halloween season go read Knotty Broomstick now available for purchase and on Kindle Unlimited as well. Thank you Sabrina for sending me a copy of this chaos your books always bring me such delight!

Knotty Broomstick was my very first read involving a human and an inanimate object, and I have to admit it was quite an experience. The story is short, but it definitely leaves an impression. At first, I wasn’t sure how to feel because it was so new to me, but I actually ended up enjoying it.

If you’re open to unusual, out-of-the-box romances, this book is worth a try. It might not be for everyone, but for readers who like something different and aren’t afraid of experimental storytelling, they’ll probably have fun with it. Personally, I’d be willing to read something like this again, which says a lot considering how new the concept was to me.

This short story is such an entertaining little gem! It’s all about a flying broomstick with some unexpected (and rather amusing) benefits. The writing is lighthearted, fun, and makes for a quick seasonal read that’s perfect around Halloween or any time you want something witchy and whimsical.

Be warned, though—this isn’t the kind of book you may want to read on your morning commute, because you might find yourself laughing out loud at the most inappropriate times. It’s clever, quirky, and guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

4.5 stars rounded up to 5

Knotty Broomsticks is quick, quirky, and gloriously unserious. Cordelia might be the worst witch at Circe Academy, but her magical mishap summoning a centuries-old witch into her broomstick sets the stage for one of the more fun (and spicier) short reads I’ve picked up recently.

For such a short novella, it manages to pack in plenty of heat, a dash of magic-school hijinks, and just enough character detail to keep me hooked. If you’re looking for a fast, laugh-out-loud, and delightfully spicy seasonal read, this one is well worth grabbing.

Thank you to BookSirens and the author for an copy of this book.

It was more 4.5

PSA. I received this book as an ARC for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. It is my own opinion about the book.

This was a hilarious love story between a witch and a broom. It was a quick read and an enjoyable way to kill a little bit of time. I recommend this story. The reason I didn't give 5 stars is that I won't read it again. It was too short, and there wasn't enough time to see the bonding or really anything other than their intense chemistry. I would have liked it to be a tad longer so I could get closure on a few things. Overall, it was enjoyable. So I do recommend it.

This was a first for me and Sabrina Cross packed a lot into 35 pages. I read this in under an hour making it perfect for reading on the train... as long as you don't mind practising your poker face.

Cordelia is a student at a magic academy and somehow ends up transferring a spirit into her family's broomstick. Saying anything more would result in spoilers, but everyone ends up having a good time with not a splinter in sight.

I wish I could make characters, feelings and surroundings come to life with such limited words.

Our heroine is not aware of her powers, bullied and trying her very hardest to prove everyone she is worthy.

Luckily she botches up another spell and summons a cast out witch into her broomstick. I might say very luckily because her broomstick vibrates, not only to warn her for approaching bullies but also for giving the fuzzies in a certain area.

I am eyeing my broomstick in the shed…

Enjoyable story with good and descriptions giving a solid feel of characters. While it is a short story parts felt a little rushed or the jump between events was abrupt. It took me a moment to adjust to time having passed. There's no "x time later" or any such denotations and it doesn't follow that each chapter skips time. Only some chapters so there's no pattern there, so it broke you out of the story a bit to for together that we had a timeskip. Other than that it was fantastic and I will be checking out more of their works.

Cordelia is trying to learn and be a really good witch at Circe Academy, but she just does not have it. She puts too much magic into her spells and they go array. One of those spells is trying to make her broom, fly. This is where Broomhilde appears into the picture.

Haha. I enjoyed this quick, steamy read. If you like reading sentient, romance books, you will enjoy this one. This is a fun age gap, FF romance. I will never look at a broomstick the same way again. The next time I purchase one, I am looking for the one with the biggest knot!

Short but…… satisfying

I have a newfound love for whatever genre you'd categorize this book in. I liked the story line and the characters. I wish it was a longer read, I feel like there's so much potential to create a longer book, but I also like how the story ended. I honestly wasnt ready for the action that the broom does when they reach the 'mountain top', but it was a good surprise. I do like the short and spicy reads and I believe I have found another favorite author.

Groan’s now NEEDS a broomstick!
If you wanted to know why witches carry brooms, well…this book will explain everything.

The story follows a college age witch who it seems no one has really trained. She’s assumed to be “bad” at magic. She get’s accepted to a witch-like college where she accidentally enchants a broom

So obviously this only works with enchanted brooms. Must find a witch now to enchant my broom.

This is F/F story as the broom identifies as female. Smut scenes are steamy and the broom really knows what it’s doing *smirk*

Sabrina Cross is one of the queens of object smut & she continues that tradition with Knotty Broomstick.
Cordelia, our witch in training, is relatable and adorably bad at magic. Broomhilde is a smart and sassy witch who has been cursed.
The story is short, funny, and deliciously smutty. Very fun with a sweet ending for all involved.

This was such a cute, quick and spicy read! Ever wonder what riding a sentient broom is like? This story definitely explored that. My only complaint is that this story wasn't longer. I love how Broomhilde took Cordelia under her wing with teaching her how to control her magic. The trust that grew between them, set the stage for some very knotty spice! Overall at 35 pages, I'd definitely recommend this for a cute, quick and festive read!

Short spicy and knaughty!
Very witchy vibes.
I do wish we got a little bit more of cordelia her powers.
Because she sees herself as weak but Hilde says she is strong.
Id loved to see in the final chapter a bit more like just a little she grew into the power I knew she had. And it would’ve been amazing! Now I am left wondering.

But the relationship the worshipping the woodwork!
Yess it cast a spell on me.
