Good book. Lane won a fifty percent stake in the Lucky Ace Ranch. He has been enjoying having his own place to call home and loves being so close to his brothers. The only thing that would make it better would be getting the other owner to sell out to him. Taylor has no intention of giving up her part of the ranch. She also wants the whole thing and moves in to stake her claim.

Lane and Taylor get off to a rocky start when Taylor arrives at the ranch and accuses Lane of swindling his half of the ranch out of her grandfather. Lane doesn't take this well, as he has some things in his past that make this a very sensitive subject. Neither one is willing to sell out to the other and after some discussion they decide to play for it. The problem is, Lane is a professional poker player and Taylor has no idea how to play. Being an honorable guy, Lane offers to teach Taylor.

The attraction between Lane and Taylor starts to heat up the more time they spend together. Lane has to work hard to keep his concentration up while teaching Taylor how to play. She is the only woman who has gotten so close to him and he realizes that he wants it all with her. Taylor has started to let go of the suspicions she had of Lane as she gets to know him better. She's falling for him, but when she finds out about his past it brings all her doubts back to the surface.

Both Lane and Taylor have a fair amount of stubbornness in their personalities. Lane's got him through his rough childhood and the mistakes of his teenage years. With the help of his foster father and brothers he turned his life around and now puts that stubbornness to better use. When Taylor blows up at him he puts that same stubbornness to work to find a way to fix things with Taylor. Once she makes up her mind about something it takes a lot to get her to change it. In this case she had to take a hard look at herself and why she reacted the way she did. I loved the ending and thought that Lane's actions were really sweet.

Wonderful book in this series. Can't wait to read the next one. Lane wins a ranch in a poker game. He finds out that he is 1/2 owner when the granddaughter, Taylor, arrives at the ranch after her grandfather passed away. Was this a chance meeting? The lives become even more entangled when they agree on playing poker to with the winner taking all rights to the ranch. There is much more to this story, but to tell it gives much of the book away. Very enjoyable, and I didn't want to put the book down

This isn't working for me. It's just not keeping my attention, and I don't find the premise or the protagonists very interesting

This is Lane's and Taylor's story and a good one it is. As we have learned with the previous books in this series six 'brothers' were very troubled and abused kids and as a last resort they had been sent to the Last Chance Ranch instead of juvie or jail. It was there that their mentor, Hank, taught them about hard work, respect, responsibility, being a gentleman, and life as a whole. They all feel they owe their lives to him but they are still a bit at odds about the wrong they did in their past.

Lane is a high-stakes professional poker player and won a fifty percent stake in the Lucky Ace Ranch fair and square. He was taken aback when the previous owner's granddaughter, Taylor, shows up to claim her fifty percent of the ranch. Taylor accuses Lane of somehow tricking, swindling or stealing the ranch away from her grandfather because she doesn't think there is any way her grandpa would have let anyone but her have the ranch she always loved but Gramps had other things in mine.

Taylor and Lane are both stubborn and Taylor moves into the ranch with Lane. As time passes the chemistry between them ignites into red hot flames. Since they can't agree how to rectify their differences Lane comes up with plan to settle, once and for all, who will own and run the ranch...a poker game.

This is a very good book that I highly recommend. It is my suggestion that you read this series in order for a better understanding of this continuing saga although each book can be a stand-alone.

Kudos, once again, to Kathie for another very well written book.

Your Ranch… Or Mine?

Kathie DeNosky has written a wonderful third installment of her The Good, The Bad and The Texan series.

Lane Donaldson has been dealt an interesting hand when he wins half of the Lucky Ace ranch from Taylor Scott’s Grandfather.

Lane had a difficult child hood and he now relishes the stability and joy of co-owning his own ranch near his foster brothers. After her Grandfather’s death, Taylor comes to back to Lucky Ace to buy Lane’s share. Lane refuses so Taylor decides to move in with him, as after all, it is half hers!

There is a wonderful chemistry between Lane and Taylor and when they decide to settle who will own the ranch by playing the ultimate poker game – winner to keep the ranch, their mutual respect and blossoming attraction is evident.

Lane’s past is discovered by Taylor and she does wonder if she can trust him. After the poker game, Taylor reads a letter from her Grandfather and everything falls into place.

Kathie has a wonderful gift to immerse her readers into the lives of these two people and the interactions with the other characters in The Good, The Bad and The Texan series leaves you ready and wanting to read more of this fantastic series.

I like Kathie DeNosky's books, so delicious and I loved this one. Previously I'd read Sam and Bria's story, can't wait until I get TJ and his troublesome neighbour.

So Lane is a professional poker player who wins half a ranch in a game. Trouble comes when his 'partner' dies and the heiress - his partner's granddaughter, Taylor starts to fling accusations around. At some point they they down and dirty in the hay stack...nah, just kidding, they use the bedroom folks, ain't that kind of book.

There are a few good twists and surprises however I'm giving it 4 stars because Taylor (the heroine) at the moment of the big reveal she was just mean, uncompassionate and judgemental. Just cold. Geez, at that point I thought Lane could do so much better. I just rolled my eyes and thought dude, keep on walking, you can do so much better than for someone to judge you after the big reveal.

Sure she came around when he 'explained' his side. But still. She lacked compassion so nah. Cold hearted woman, she was. So that put a wedge in the works for me, saying that I was happy Lane got the woman he wanted and the happy ever after.

Overall, still a good book with great writing and a delicious hero. I also like the other heroes and their stories. Looking forward to reading the others.

D2299 May14. #4 in The Good, the Bad and the Texan series. The story of Lane Donaldson, poker player, and Taylor Scott, granddaughter, of Ben Cunningham. Ben had thrown a poker game with Lane because he thought Taylor and Lance could have the same kind of marriage he and his wife had.
