An Errand for Emma: A Young Woman's Journey to the Old West Unlocks a Modern Riddle

Rate this book
Volume 1 of The Emma Trilogy Emma Dalton wants to have a memorable summer before starting college at BYU, but she stumbles into more than she ever thought possible. Emma starts the summer looking for Mr. Right at local dances, and by the end of the summer she is dancing in his arms. David North is everything she's ever dreamed of, but there is a slight problem - he lives in the 1860s! Emma's desire to uncover the truth about a mysterious ancestor sends her on an errand for the Lord in a place she's never imagined - the untamed West of the 19th century. An accident catapults Emma back among her forefathers. A chance meeting with Brigham Young puts her on track to find the answers she seeks but she must first survive a dangerous trip on horseback to lawless Denver, and escape the evil men seeking to thwart her mission. The journey, however, allows her to find true love and build a family bond that spans generations. But Emma doesn't know how - or if - she'll return to modern times. Is she meant to live her life in the 1860s with David? And if she does stay, what will happen to the family history information she has sacrificed so much to recover?

Wow to be able to go back in time and find out about your ancestors. Going to say right out I went in not liking this author because of the murder of the 2 children he and his wife had custody of, maybe he will write about that.

I will read another in this series.

This was better than I thought it could be. This author is easy to read but I think he puts in just enough twists to make this good. I would have given it 5 stars however there was a couple of parts that I think could have been better written. He did make me cry in empathy a few times for the hardships and triumphs of the early saints. That will always be something close to my heart and tugs at those tender heart strings every time. Very quick read and would recommend to anyone who enjoys a fast, clean book with a great love story.

I love, love, love this whole series! The idea of being able to time travel really interests me! I can't even imagine what it would be like to show up in the 1800s with all of the knowledge that you already have now! This is very well-written and I highly recommend all of this series and the next one (that goes along with the same people)!
