A town divided. An unknowable evil. Actually, make that two evils.
Seventeen years ago, a machete wielding masked maniac known as the Silver Fox terrorized Camp Creed, killing nineteen people on a night that became infamous as The Creed Falls Massacre. His bloody rampage ended when final girl Jamie Campbell fought back.
At least, that's how Jamie tells it. Today, the small town of Creed Falls can't decide if the Silver Fox was the killer, or if Jamie used him as a scapegoat to hide her own crimes. With tensions between factions reaching their peak on the anniversary of the massacre, a new threat emerges, as well as a very old one. A strange meteor crashes on the outskirts of town, transforming townsfolk into hideous mutated monsters.
Meanwhile, an old foe is somehow resurrected at the site of the old campground; the Silver Fox. With an unstoppable slasher carving his way from one side of town, and this mysterious infection spreading on the other, Jamie Campbell and her teenage daughter Claire find themselves caught in the middle of a double-feature of small town cosmic horrors. Can they find a way to mend the town's warring factions long enough to survive The Creed Falls Massacres?
Unique, unique, unique! The Creed Falls Massacres began with all the slasher vibes that I love. When the book began seventeen years in the past with a killer (the Silver Fox) on the loose brandishing a machete, I was like, "buckle me in!" I love a good slasher. Then the book goes to the present day where the final girl, Jamie Campbell, is mother with a teenage daughter. This year on the anniversary of the massacre accusations against Jamie are still being thrown around. Making matters worse, a meteor has crashed outside of Creed Falls and everything changes.......
While reading this book I felt as if the author had a slasher book in one hand and a science fiction book in the other, brought his hands together and mashed both stories together. The result - a unique, original, and horrific book This book had me from the very first page and went it went off in another direction, I was momentarily stunned and had like the characters in this book, had to get my bearings.
I enjoyed the originality and the uniqueness of this plot. It was like a blending of an '80's slasher horror film meets a body invasion trope. I enjoyed the characters even the ones that were stirring up trouble. What a wild ride.
The author first came on my radar with Slashtag and Try Not to Die on Slashtag: An Interactive Adventure. His books might not be for everyone, but he does excel at writing original well thought out, anxiety provoking, action books. I enjoyed the tension, the sense of danger, and the dread in this book.
Thank you to Wicked House Publishing and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.
It's a really strong supernatural slasher. I loved the fas paced story, the strong characters, and especially the cult vibe of the town. The kills were gory and brutal, and the mix of psycho killer and body snatchers worked great. Thank you Wicked House Publishing for this ARC!
The Creed Falls Massacre is a fast paced, supernatural slasher with a sci-fi twist. It’s like Friday the 13th mashed up with body snatching aliens. There is so much rolled in to one story. You have the machete wielding slasher, small town settings, cult mentality, strong women determined to survive, and aliens taking over the bodies of local townsfolk. Literally, what more could you asked for? This was a page turner that I didn’t want to put down. I would recommend this to any fan of 80’s slasher films/books or anyone who is into science fiction.
Thanks to NetGalley and Wicked House Publishing for the ARC.
If you’re a fan of teenage slasher movies, or “The Mist”, you might love this. This also made me think a lot about "American Horror Story: 1984”- which is something perhaps a bit more modern to compare it to.
My slight critique is that the synopsis describes this as something a bit different than what it is. I was pretty much expecting something along the lines of classic slasher horror, which I adore. While it does certainly have those elements, it is heavily combined with a Si-Fi plot, with some alien bug/monster type specimens. I am not much of a Si-Fi reader, so I was a little thrown off. I didn’t dislike that part of the plot, but, I was much more entertained by the more traditional horror parts- so I wish that they had gotten a little more focus time. Usually this would bother me a bit more, but I still really enjoyed most this, so I think it deserves 4 stars.
With this being said, I think the story as a whole is strong. It’s creepy, a little bit gorey, and very fast-paced. The opening jumped right into an action-filled scene! Which I really appreciate. It has the makings of really good horror (I think this makes for fantastic SI-Fi as well. In my limited experience.)
(not a spoiler, the synopsis mentions it) This also feels like an ode to the bravery and strength of the classic “final girl”, which I think is a win. So much gets lost to time, but I am always so excited to see authors keep that going. More powerful female leads!
One last note: This reads insanely fast. Which in my mind, is a compliment. I find stories like this take me a bit longer to read usually, but I ate this up in just a few hours. So kudos for holding my attention.
Thank you to Netgalley, Wicked House Publishing and author Jon Cohn, for providing me with the eARC of “The Creed Falls Massacres”, in exchange for my honest review! Publication date: November 07, 2025
I was so excited to see another book by Jon, he is one of my favorite authors, so I might be a tad bias in this review, but again, freaking amazing, have you read Slashtag or Everything’s Eventual??
Okay onto why we are really here, The Cree Falls Massacres, oh my goodness. This had everything, fucked up small town, bloody horrifying past and the usual staple, evil.
I love everything about that, and this town had a axe wielding murder known as Silver Fox, only to be stopped by “the final girl” Jamie. But is that really the deal or is it just what she said happened, with a little twist on the usual “final girl is the hero” troupe we get a little more of what if.. (Another obsession of mine)
The town spirals as the town folks start turning into monsters and I do NOT mean the typical HOA types, I’m talking mutated by a strange mentor types and of course up pops Silver Fox again murdering their way across town.
When something happens like this happens not once but twice Jamie now has to figure this out while also dealing with her daughter this time around while also the police chief of this super small town, battling an evil she supposedly already stopped 17 years ago so you know the gossip was wild.
This was dark, funny and still some how emotional in the way Jon seems to be able to do, weaving a story that makes you giggle a little but scream as your favorite characters narrowly or sometimes not so narrowly survive..
Normally I love Cohn’s books, but this one just fell a bit flat for me! I think there was just a lot going on, the ups and downs of tension and fear just drained me a bit.
Loved the prologue and the first half, felt iffy about the other creatures, got back into it during the fight at the police station, then felt meh until the end.
I think a straight up slasher by this awesome author would’ve been more what I was looking for. I liked the characters, their depths and arcs, the writing was great (as usual with Jon’s works).
Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and Wicked House Publishing for a copy!
This book is absolute chaos in the best possible way. It throws together slasher horror, alien parasites, monster upgrades, government meddling, zombie-killer vigilantes and somehow makes them all work. It may be hard to believe but it does work and it’s a wild read.
The pace is relentless, the body count is very high, and the story never stops moving. It has that pulpy creature-feature feel where the author commits so fully to the madness that you just go with it. And you can tell the writer’s having fun with this story, which makes the ride even better.
The characters are surprisingly solid for a book this wild. They hold the story steady enough that even when the chaos tips into nonsense, you don't care. Because it all just makes sense.
This isn’t subtle horror. It’s bloody, inventive, fast, and over the top. I don’t think I’ve read anything quite like it, and I’d happily read more in the same unhinged universe.
Thanks to Netgalley for providing a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Seventeen years ago, Camp Creed became Infamous overnight when a massacre turned the summer retreat into a slaughterhouse. Jamie barely survived, and the killer wearing the Silver Fox mask (her boyfriend Zane), disappeared after his reign of terror. With no body and no closure, the town is split between believing Jamie and blaming her. Now Jamie is the sheriff of Creed Falls. She's a survivor who rebuilt her life around vigilance and fear. She's raised her daughter, Claire, to recognize danger long before it strikes. But nothing can prepare them for what happens next. On the anniversary of the killings, a glowing pink meteorite crashes into a neighbor's yard. Hours later someone wearing a gleaming Silver Fox mask begins stalking the campgrounds, recreating the horrors Jamie worked her whole life to escape. To save her daughter and her town, Jamie must confront the past she spent nearly two decades outrunning, and Claire may have to become the final girl this time.
Jon Cohn has created a slasher that has most everything I crave in a horror read. Small town paranoia, a chilling cold case killer, and a mother daughter duo you can't help rooting for. Jamie is the kind of scarred, steel spined survivor that final girl legends are made of. And Claire? She's the next generation of badass. The Silver Fox killer is instantly iconic, and the meteorite twist is a fresh layer that keeps you guessing. I devoured this in one sitting! If you love slashers with heart, killers, and characters that fight back harder than they fall, The Creed Falls Massacres is an absolute must read!
Thank you to NetGalley, Jon Cohn, and Wicked House Publishing for this eARC! Publication date was November 7th, 2025.
I was lucky to get an ARC of ‘The Creed Falls Massacre’ from Jon. This is a tense, creepy ride from start to finish. The town’s dark past comes back to haunt it when a meteor crash unleashes monsters and the Silver Fox returns to cause chaos. Jon blends slasher-style kills with cosmic horror, keeping the story fast-paced and intense. If you enjoy horror that’s gruesome, suspenseful, and full of scares, this one’s worth checking out.
Jon does it again, another brilliant take of horror!
I had the pleasure of reading the ARC for The Creed Falls Massacres. I had fun with this one and it was incredible! Jon never disappoints!
Seventeen years ago…young Jamie Campbell survived an encounter with the murderous force known as The Silver Fox. He killed nineteen people that night at Camp Creed…but being the final girl, Jamie put an end to his spree. This would become what is known as The Creed Falls Massacre. Some residents however, seem to think Jamie killed everyone that night and is using The Silver Fox as a scapegoat.
Now with a daughter of her own, Jamie is the chief of police and keeps the town under her watch. On the seventeenth anniversary, a strange meteor crashes into the ground..being a new terror to Creed Falls. The townsfolk are transformed into terrifying and hideous monsters. Along with this new threat, The Silver Fox is somehow resurrected and starts slashing his way through town.
Stuck in the middle Jamie and her daughter, Claire must protect the town, bring peace to the warring factions in town, and put down these terrifying monsters.
There is humor, terror, and some beyond glorious kills! A little bit Friday the 13th, a little bit Bodysnatchers, and two badass final girls make this a story that shouldn’t be missed.
I was lucky enough to get an ARC of The Creed Falls Massacre - and it was a WILD ride and had something for everyone. This was a really fun, quick read and Cohn really gave us his tour de force with this one. Blending sub-genres together in one fast paced novel is hard to do but as with everything Jon writes, he knocked it out of the park. Be sure to read this book when it releases!!!
Seventeen years ago, final girl Jamie Campbell fought off her boyfriend/spree-killer Zane Campbell - and lived to tell the tale. Unfortunately, many members of the community would not believe the football stand-out could have possibly killed the 19 people murdered that night. As such, they created an organization against Jamie, believing her to be the true perpetrator of the crimes. Somehow, despite being branded a liar by most of the town, Campbell has become the sheriff of Creed Falls. Her daughter with said former murderous boyfriend, Claire, has also been targeted for her association to her mother. But Claire finally has a few friends, and they have invited her to the annual Creed Falls Massacre party. Against her mother's wishes, she sneaks out to the party.
Nearly simultaneously, a meteor lands in Creed Falls. Believing it to be a gift, the finders steal the meteorite to keep it for themselves. They believe it will help their vendetta against Jamie and prove that Zane was innocent. Sadly for them, this does not work.
As the party goes on, the killing begins. And not just at the camp where the party is occurring, but all over town. Because in addition to raising Zane from his murderous sleep. the meteorite is turning the town folk into horrible creatures. Will anyone survive this awful mess?
Sound confusing? It kinda was. It feels like the book wanted to be two things and as the author couldn't decide which way to go, he went with both. And honestly? It was still pretty damn good. I just wish it were a little less.
A fantastic slasher with a cinematic atmosphere featuring a badass final girl trope via a mother-daughter duo!
Seventeen years ago, a machete wielding masked maniac known as the Silver Fox terrorized Camp Creed, killing nineteen people in a single blood-soaked night that became known as The Creed Falls Massacre. His bloody rampage ended when final girl Jamie Campbell fought back, but don't cheer just yet.
Today, the people of Creed Falls are still divided on the identity of the killer. Many believe Jamie and a partner used the Silver Fox as cover for their own crimes, and now that Jamie is working with the sheriff's department, tensions are at an all-time high.
What made this a different type of slasher story is on the anniversary of the massacre, the usual anticipated threat returns, but there's something strange and new. A bizarre meteor crashes on the outskirts of town, and contact with it turns the townspeople into bloodthirsty mutants.
The dialogue was sharp, the pacing was perfect, and the characters were brilliantly crafted. This was a notable slasher to add to your growing list. Many thanks to Wicked House Publishing for the early copy. This one published November 7, 2025.
"This is impossible. How can her boyfriend be the killer?"
Synopsis: Seventeen years ago, Jamie Campbell survived the worst night of her life. When she was 16 years old, her boyfriend, Zane, mercilessly killed 19 people. Her friends, her counselors, and even his own mother. Now, with no one but her best friend Allan, and her 16 year old daughter, she has to fight back against a past that has haunted her for her entire life, a town that doesn't believe her, and outside forces that are determined to break her on the anniversary of that fateful night.
Review: I read this e-book via NetGalley's ReadNow e-books. This was a wild ride from start to finish. It started with the classic teen slasher, bodies everywhere, a crazed teenager killing for the fun of it, and the last girl standing, Jamie. But as I kept reading, it went from a slasher horror to sci-fi horror and at some points, it felt like two different stories were being told. It felt a bit disjointed to me and because I was expecting more slasher horror and not sci-fi, it threw me for a loop a bit.
I definitely liked the bad ass female lead in Jamie and her daughter, but I didn't feel like I actually cared about the characters throughout, especially when you know they will likely survive at the end. And the villains just didn't hit for me. I had a fun time reading it, but it was a bit meh for me in terms of horror.
A great read, where The Blob meets Friday the 13th meets The Bay! Wildly imaginative, with strong main characters, complex ideas, engrossing action scenes, and a satisfying ending! The story's a supernatural slasher, with strong sci-fi vibes, starring Jamie, a mother, and Claire, her seventeen year old daughter, as final girls against the same threat: the Silver Fox, a demented young murderer who went on a killing spree at Camp Creed more than a decade ago and was finally killed off by teenage Jamie. When his body went missing, half the town of Creed Falls went against Jamie, branding her the real killer, though this was never substantiated.
Now Silver Fox is back, resurrected thanks to a mysterious meteorite carrying flesh-hungry pink goo, giving birth to monsters. Claire is the one who has to deal with the Silver Fox this time around, while Jamie, her mum and chief of police, is tasked with handling both town hysteria and the infected townsfolk. But the mother-daughter duo have been preparing all their life for this, and they won't give up without a fight!
The story's fun, the killings inspired, the writing cinematic: highly recommended as a no-nonsense gripping slasher by a consistently stellar author!
Review of The Creed Falls Massacres by Jon Cohn – ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Jon Cohn delivers a nostalgic and thrilling slasher horror in The Creed Falls Massacres. Seventeen years after a brutal massacre at Camp Creed, Sheriff Jamie Campbell, a lone survivor, faces the return of the Silver Fox killer—or someone wearing his mask. As the anniversary approaches, Jamie must confront her past and protect her daughter, Claire, from the terror that once shattered their town.
Cohn masterfully blends elements of classic slasher films with a modern twist, crafting a tale that pays homage to the genre while introducing fresh dynamics. The characters are well-developed, particularly Jamie, whose strength and vulnerability make her a compelling protagonist. The suspense builds steadily, keeping readers on edge as the story unfolds.
While the narrative is engaging, some may find the pacing uneven in certain sections. However, the overall experience is satisfying, with a conclusion that resonates long after the final page.
The Creed Falls Massacres is a must-read for fans of horror and slasher fiction, offering a gripping story that honors its roots while carving out its own identity.
Another fun one from Cohn. I was coming off a reaaaally dark read and so this book came at just the right time. Don’t get me wrong, there’s still plenty of gore, wild body horror and boundless death and destruction, but The Creed Falls Massacres has a cinematic vibe which makes it more entertaining versus soul crushing. TCFM follows Jamie, one of the only survivors of a vicious camp murder spree 17 years ago. She is now sheriff and has a 16yo daughter who has a deep connection to the massacre that shocked the town of Creed Falls. When a meteor strikes outside the town a strange bug ish alien is released and quickly strengthens as it takes on Creed Falls. So basically a fairly standard slasher and a weird entomophobic (mosquito types this time 😖) sci fi are melded into a wild tale.
The characters were great and Sophie was a fantastic ride or die. Claire was also dope and Allan and Jamie had such a solid friendship. This is still a dark book but I found it had a black comedy vibe that gave it a little levity. The two competing themes made it difficult to flesh out all the details at times but this is a great read if you like fast paced books with genre mixing. Fun one.
Oh. My. Damn. This book was incredible. Jon Cohn does it again! I was once again lucky enough to be apart of the ARC Team. I also once again went into this book completely blind as I did with the last. And while I assumed I was getting something very much of the Friday the 13th vibe, I got much much more. I will give nothing away for spoilers, but just know that in every book this author has the ability to create this bunch of characters that you root for and get attached to, and this was no exception. Including characters that you initially did not feel like you would end up jiving with. I feel like it had a strong message about today’s day and age where people come to assume things despite them not being based on facts and running with it. There were just so many elements of this book. Gory, jumpy, emotional, gross, weird, etc. It had everything.
I very highly recommend this book. And I for one cannot friggen wait to get a physical copy of this because that cover is also so gorgeous.
The Creed Falls Massacres is a blood-soaked love letter to classic horror—think campgrounds, creepy masks, and final girls who refuse to go quietly. Seventeen years after surviving a brutal massacre, Jamie is now the sheriff of Creed Falls, still haunted by the night her boyfriend vanished and the Silver Fox killer left the town reeling.
Now, with a glowing meteorite crash and a masked figure stalking the woods again, Jamie’s daughter Claire steps into the spotlight. It’s generational trauma meets slasher reboot, and it works. The pacing is relentless, the kills are creative, and the emotional stakes feel earned.
Jon Cohn leans into the genre’s best tropes—campfire legends, small-town secrets, and a heroine who’s more than just a scream queen. It’s nostalgic without being predictable, and the mother-daughter dynamic adds a fresh layer of heart to the horror. Perfect for fans of Halloween, Friday the 13th, and anyone who cheers when the final girl fights back harder than ever.
With thanks to Jon Cohn, the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC.
I was so honored to receive an ARC of this book, as Jon Cohn is easily one of my favorite authors, and an auto buy any time he releases something.
This one definitely hits all the fears Aliens ✅ Bugs ✅ Machete Murderer ✅ And a couple of little surprises too!
17 years after two teenagers survive a massacre at a summer camp, their small town faces another maniacal killer, and also the fallout from a mysterious meteorite. The chief of police and the science teacher have been waiting 17 years for the other shoe to drop, and when it does, they will need the help of some tough teens to salvage what they can when monsters and aliens come for them.
This had all the nostalgia of an 80's slasher film, but with a much stronger plot and characters, and non-stop action from start to bloody, emotional finish!
This one drops on Nov. 7, so make sure you pre-order now!
This book was wild and I had no idea what to expect. This was a mix between a Friday the 13th-type slasher and sci-fi movie in the best way. This was a unique and original twist on the classic slashers.
The characters were well-written. Claire, Jamie, and Allan are awesome! This was action-packed from start to finish, so buckle up. I sometimes struggle with a lot of action in books but this was easy to follow along with due to the author's excellent writing.
The action and kills were descriptive without bogging down the story. I had a hard time putting this down because I didn't know what crazy thing was going to happen next.
I'm giving this one 5⭐️s and would definitely recommend this for people wanting a fast-paced read that feels like watching a movie.
A slasher-meets-creature-feature hybrid? Count me in! I was skeptical at first since blending two distinct horror subgenres can be tricky. But I took the plunge, and I’m so glad I did. Jon Cohn masterfully weaves together the brutal tension of a slasher with the eerie, otherworldly dread of a creature feature, creating a story that’s both thrilling and unsettling in all the right ways.
The pacing is sharp, the atmosphere is thick with suspense, and the horror elements complement each other rather than clash. Think Clown in a Cornfield meets Invasion of the Body Snatchers. A terrifying mashup that somehow works perfectly. If you're a horror fan looking for something fresh but familiar, this one is an absolute must-read.
First, let's talk about the cover. It's fantastic and sets the scene for the story that races up behind it. This book combines elements of various horror and sci-fi plotlines to keep readers engaged throughout, ensuring they never become bored, even for a moment. The sheriff of the small town of Creed Falls is the only survivor of a mass killing 17 years ago. She's had plenty of time to think about what they could have done differently and is trying to ensure her teenage daughter knows what to do if... When a meteor falls to the earth a few miles outside town, and a copycat slasher is running loose, AND a report of little green men comes in, the sheriff has to wonder if today is the day the Earth stops. A great mixed genre that should satifsy a readers craving for horror or scifi.
It was a nice and quick read. It had two plots in one in a way, which was quite interesting. The plot about the massacres was more of my liking than the infection plot, but it felt like a 80s horror movie and I did like that atmosphere. The characters are quite predictable and one-dimensional but they’re not what’s most important about this book. I personally did not need fleshed-out characters to have a good time reading this story. And I would definitely recommend it, especially if you like reading books in one sitting — just like I did with this one.
Thank you to Netgalley for an e-ARC in exchange for a honest review.
What a fast-paced awesome read! I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I thought this was going to be your typical slasher, but the added aspect of a meteorite turning people into zombie-like creatures wasn’t on my radar at all.
I liked the main characters and the unrequited love between Jamie and Allan, although I was sad Allan met his demise. Claire was a badass teenager and led the others when her mom couldn’t.
Overall, I highly recommend this book. It was so fun and full of surprises that will keep you guessing what the ending will be.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I went in to The Creed Falls Massacres expecting a straight up slasher story but what I got was so much more .
We start with the classic campground machete wielding slasher and somehow end up with alien parasites turning people into zombie like killing machines. Add in two strong final girls and a breakneck pace and what more could you want ?
Sounds nuts but totally works !!
Big thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for the advanced copy .
This book was an absolute riot. It was crazy, frenetic fun in a way that reminded me of those ensemble horror movies from the 90s and 00s like Eight Legged Freaks, Slither, and many others. Fast paced, darkly funny, and filled with great characters, I couldn't put this one down because I had no idea what was going to come up next in the best of ways.
