Savage, who was born in Tasmania but left in the 1950’s to marry a footballer, is refreshingly un-academic, provocative, eloquent – and most candid.

This read fluidly and quickly and amounted to an interesting character study. I had to keep reminding myself that it took place ~30 years ago; it often felt like it was set much further in the past. I'm not sure whether that's because it is set in Australia? That being said, the themes of love and loss obviously resonate regardless of the time period. And I overall found this pleasant to read, if not memorable in any specific way.
