By the King’s Command…
Called before the new king, Laird Artúr was shocked to see his old lover walking through the door. His anger ignites when the king commands them to mate and fortify his borders to the north. He is heartbroken when he discovers that his new mate has no recollection of their time together. Can he forgive Dainéal and let go of the past to build a future or will his resentment end what they could have before it begins?
Laird Dainéal balks at being commanded to mate, especially to a man he knows has to be insane. Despite how much Artúr insists that they have met before, Dainéal has no memory of the man. And he would have remembered a man that was so sexy he made Dainéal’s teeth ache.
Commanded by their king to establish a stronghold to the north, Artúr and Dainéal have to fight not only their past but those that want to keep them from their future. When betrayal comes from within, the bond between them may be the only thing that saves them.
About Me I believes the only thing sexier than a man in cowboy boots is two, or three men in cowboy boots. I also believes in love at first sight, soul mates, true love, and happy endings.
I live in the great Northwest region of the USA, with my gorgeous husband and soul mate, two boxer/collie puppies, one old biddy cats, and three fish. When I'm not being a mother to my six teenagers or cleaning up after my two 70 pound lap puppies, you can usually find me cuddled in bed with a book in my hand and a puppy in my lap. Or on my laptop, creating the next sexy man for one of my stories.

It was a short, fluffy read, better than expected (but my expectations were really low), so I can honestly said I enjoyed it. I liked the dragons, and the whole Highland-feel to the story, and was in the mood for fluffy and sweet. The mpreg angle was interesting, I just wish we could see when the baby was hatched. I would have love to read about a little baby dragon.
I actually like this story. It sort of reminds me of Midnight Mating series with the whole force mating. I wasn't here for the names, so I just change them to english version and move right along in the story. This story seemed to be set in alternative universe in the 15th century. I just didn't vibe with use of modern terms or phrases like "Twink" throughout the book. They way the baby was born in egg form first then it incubate in the egg till it hatches couple months later was interesting. Everybody feeling was so wishy washy it gave me whiplash.
The "Wait,What?" moment in the book had to do with the sex scene. In the first scene, he just stick his 10 inches long and 2 diameter studded dick up his mate supposedly unprepared ass. I was like noooooooooooooo. Then you found out halfway thru that he has so sort of naturally self producing lube called cumtube. I'm just gonna stop here and let your mind fill in the blank.
Overall I enjoyed the book. Even through some points gave me pause. I read these type to be entertain not enlighten. I will be continuing on with this series If you are looking for some paranormal brain candy then this is book to read.
Kinda cool lol... there's a new take on M-preg in here that made me giggle lol. It was cool tho. On a side note I think these two authors pairing up is an awesome idea! I love Olivia Black books but they aren't exactly on stormy Glenn level ( sorry...not sorry! ). Her books are usually pretty good but I'm typically left feeling like the IDEA was great but it didn't get fully flushed out or fully explored. Like in the silver bullet series I'm sometimes left feeling slightly dissatisfied with the progression of events. But with these two working together this book had an entertaining and clear series of events that brought the couple closer together and ended in a way that was fitting for the story and enjoyable for the reader. So having these two pair up can only mean Gold in my opinion! :-) :-) :-)
2.5....I can't put my finger on it but something was missing. The epilogue felt incomplete. It was an additional sex scene. Screw that! (pun intended..lol) What about the egg? I would've rather read about that as opposed to more sex....sigh.
This was just an "okay" read for me. At first, it was fun to see fantasy elements mixed with modern (bathrooms and some modern words), but it began to seem a little dis-congruous as the book wore on -- less like it was intentional and more like the authors were being inconsistent or sloppy.
The head-injury amnesia plot seemed a little weak to me. Based on the blurb, I was kind of expecting that the amnesia was forced by an enemy and maybe he's get his memory back at some point. Instead, it was kind of a footnote. We never learn who injured him or why, even. It felt almost like the authors decided they wanted him to forget his mate and just picked the easiest way to do it to keep the story short.
Also, I am not sure what point the mpreg plot served. I think it could've been removed from the book and not really impacted the story. It seemed a bit superfluous. Having said that, there have been mpreg books that I liked, so many I was just not in the right mindset for this one.
In any case, if the blurb grabs you and you enjoy other works by the authors, give it a try! It was just "okay" for me, but you may like it more.
Well, people who read Stormy Glenn know what to expect from her...there are some stories where insta-love works for me,but somehow with Stormy Glenn never did...I think it's because her characters are just too silly sometimes. But I liked the blurb (I like dragon-shifters) and castles and lairds and kings and everything medieval...
In comparison with other books that I read by SG,men in this book are more manlier, which is nice because I don't like to see men with swords bawlin' their eyes out...God,I remembered Mark from Happy's Ever After...anyway,story is nice enough,it's simple and plot is linear,so there's no surprises, nothing exciting here...
So,if Stormy Glenn books worked for you before,I don't see the reason for this not to.
The story wasn't bad but it could have been so much better. There was no angst even though they wanted to mate and Daineal "just forgot" about Artur?? Really? That made me pretty upset. I think Artur shouldn't have given in so quickly. I do think talking was good, but they fell right back in their relationship like nothing happened, even though 15 years passed... To be honest, the Mpreg also made me feel pretty weirded out as well. Artur also got pregnant right away and there wasn't much story left then. Even the confrontation with Daineal's brother and father fizzled out super quickly. Sad. Now I don't want to read rest of the series.
Artur, human and Donatail, dragon are brought before their king and forcibly mated in order to form a better border against the kingdom's enemies. The two aren't thrilled about it. They have history from 15 years ago that the human remembers but the dragon does not because he had an accident going home to tell his family about his mate that left him without memories. The family returned the letters unopened and lied to the human when he visited. So there is a lot to overcome between themselves and trying to get their each of their people to fight together. We do get our HEA and a dragon hatchling.
Dragons! Forced to mate human then get human male pregnant. There is nothing more entertaing than a big strong male warrior pregnant! The king forces two strong warriors to mate and combine both races to protect his northern boarder. These two have a history that one does not remember and swears he doesn't even know the human. Ofcourse the human is in love with the dragon from before and goes into the mating very angry. Very Very enjoyable well thought out plot that had me chuckling several times.
Is it bad that I find these books so amusing? It's nice to sit back and read a book that won't make you cry like a baby once in a while. This was a sweet little story about a human and a dragon shifter that seemed like enemies at first. It was a lovers reunited story even though one of them didn't remember ever being lovers. Oh, and an Mpreg story too. Only it's an egg not a baby. I know, sounds stupid but I actually liked it. Go figure.
I liked this story a lot so far. Daineal and Artur knew each other before Daineal lost his memory. Daineal is a dragon and Artur is a human. They are both leaders of their people and land or air. The king joined them as mates and they ended up being true mates. The dragons and humans have to work together to protect themselves and all the kingdom from their enemies. I can not wait for the next book. Erin
There were parts I enjoyed like the shifting to Dragon form and the fight scenes but for the most part it was sort of silly. I did like the two MCs, Artur and Daineal and once I had the backstory, the insta love made sense. I did want more out of the epilogue. So what happened with the egg. Did the father remain agreeable. Interestingly, you could look at this book as a parable. Two species forced to coexist and accept each other's differences. That was nicely done.
I have to say I wasn't expecting to like this book as I love the others of Olivia that I have read before. Well writen, good story, good idea to be honest with all of you. It didn't... It wasn't as much of an amazing thing besides the point of explaining the way a dragon mate's and have eggs, which was outstanding by the way. I would have loved to see something more, don't know exactly why, but more.
So the story felt a little rushed; the author tried to plug a lot into a 112 pages. I liked the new take on MPreg, I haven't read one like this before. The story was light and fluffy, perfect after a heavy emotional read.
It was so great I really loved it .. It was another hit I can't wait to read more of this series I hope it really soon ..........with Stormy Glenn and Olivia Black...
It's Midnigh Mating series again but in Scotland. Oh wait, Midnight Mating was in Scotland too I think? Anyway, forced mating and misunderstandings to resolve were the main topic of this story. But there are dragons, so fine, I will see how the rest goes.
I know this isn't the greatest writing or plot but I really enjoy these books at times. It is fun and not very angsty but with enough story to enjoy it. The characters were interesting and fun. I really enjoyed relaxing with this story.
3.61 stars! No spoilers, no complaints. An easy read that passed the time and rather satisfying. Will definitely read the 2nd 3rd and so on of the series.
Why include a concept, the memory loss, if you aren't going to really do much with it? After they re-meet it takes less than 24 hours before everybody is over it.
It was an okay read for me. And yeah, each time that i saw cumtube, i would laugh. As someone said at the comments too. I didn't like it so much. Something was missing, example: because the king put them together, no one would split them, their love weren't strong by itself, because he had a baby, the father of Daniel accepted him. If he haven't the baby. If there weren't a baby. But I still enjoyed it.
