Lola Penelope Caruso is my favorite person to torment. When she’s had enough of me, her freckled cheeks go rosy, her tiny hands ball into fists, and she pulls at her signature tight braid and lets down her long red hair.
I thought I'd seen her at her worst when we told her she’d have to move from New York City to a dump in Jersey with our law firm. But then a six-year-old showed up at my office with a note around his neck and my smile on his face, and she had to Who's your daddy?
Now annoying her isn’t quite as fun.
Apparently my ability to keep plants and fish alive does not mean I’m qualified to raise a child. He's smart and funny, and I'm pretty sure he'll raise me with more success than I can him. Fortunately, we have one thing in our infatuation with Lola. Is it possible that she could ever like me as much as she likes him?
If Lola gave this book a theme song it would be: “Manchild” by Sabrina Carpenter 🎶🤣
I loved the mom com series. I loved summer people. These two authors can write a book together.
The vibes are slightly different but in a way similar. Three dudes (dads) living together. The why they live together is different than mom coms. The banter tho 🔥 similar
All three are attorneys. Lola is their paralegal.
Very much office romance vibes.
Lola & Cal 💕
Cal is straight goof golden retriever. British accent. The pet/plant situation 🤣
I have to say- potential unpopular opinion here- I did not find myself enjoying this one as much as the momcoms. I had a harder time connecting with all of the characters. I had a hard time understanding why Lola was so irritated with Cal. The plot setup felt a little too forced for me. With that being said this was entertaining. I enjoyed watching Cal realize how out of touch he was now that he had to be a dad. I liked watching him evolve into a dad- the insecurities that came with that and then the wins that came with that. I liked that he had a crush on Lola for a while and him jumping on the opportunity to see if there was something between them. I do always enjoy when there is a loathe to lovers situation and the characters start to realize that they like their rival. Watching Lola start to fall for Cal was entertaining and enjoyable. Watching them fall into a sort of family unit was very cute :)
Lola cannot believe she has agreed to this. Or that somehow she has even gotten roped into this in first place. She is moving out of the city to live with her boss and his brothers in a dilapidated building so that they can keep their law firm open. And worst of all she has to live with Cal- the younger brother who is so inept it is unreal. She also secretly doesn't like how hot he is. It is borderline distracting. But now it is hard to not want to help him considering he has just found out he is a dad to a son who has never known him. Lola finds herself engaged. She wants to see Cal succeed at this. She wants to help him succeed at this. She finds herself enjoying being in his company and watching him flounder a little bit. She finds herself more and more attracted to him. And then when things finally happen between them, she finds herself being ok not being in the city. She finds herself wanting to make this place her forever home and this her forever family.
Cal has always liked Lola. He has always wanted to try more with her, but she is clear on how she feels about him. He can't help that he likes to rile her up. He can't help that he also likes to make her laugh- though it is rare. He is thinking nothing will ever come between them, but then he finds out he is a dad. A dad to a son who is in elementary school. He feels completely out of his element. How is he supposed to handle this? How is he supposed to support a child when he can't support himself? But then Lola steps in. She helps him. She shows him that he can be himself. He doesn't have to change given the situation. He finds himself liking her even more. He finds himself wanting this situation to go on forever. He is determined to get her to like living in New Jersey versus the city. And he finds himself having a lot of fun getting her to unravel for him. Getting her to be comfortable around him. Getting her to be a part of his new little family.
This was an easy read, but again I just wasn't as engaged in the characters as I was in the first series. My favorite part was watching them become a family together :) I have been approved for the other ones and will try to push through.
Thank you to Luna Literary and Brittanee for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Cal and Lola just made me happy. That’s it, that’s the review.
There are no other words for this book other than fantastic. I had a great time start to finish with this book and I’m so ready for the rest of this series.
Brittanee and Jennie just do a fantastic job making these world that suck you in and just make you want to be friends with all the characters.
✨ Workplace Romance ✨ He Falls First ✨ Surprise Single Dad ✨ Golden Retriver MMC ✨ Close Proximity
I love a surprise dad, and Cal was just the most unprepared but charming dad ever. Like I think his kid was more mature than him but it was part of his charm.
And Lola, omg her annoyance with Cal and their entire office had me cackling. The whole thing was a cluster and I was so addicted to every interaction between them all.
And Cal, that man was so besotted. It was hilarious and I loved Lola for giving him absolute grief for most of the book. She was a rough nut to crack but once she fell for Cal, it was so good.
I also loved Murphy and his relationship with both Cal and Lola. He was adorable and watching him settle into the dynamic with both Cal and Lola was my favorite.
And the spice. The spice was so hot and I was panting 🥵🥵
And can we talk about how good this audio was. There is just something about a n MMC with a British accent that does it for me. Ans listening to Cal taunt Lola in stereo was just so so good. The audio was top tier and the narrators did a fantastic job.
I just enjoyed every bit of this. Now bring on Sully and Sloane!
I’ve been in a reading slump for a few weeks but this was the perfect book to help me get out of it! The banter was perfect and it had me laughing out loud. Cal was absolutely the best, a literal golden retriever MMC and I loved the sass that Lola brought. I was also so excited to see some appearances from some of my favorite characters in their other books! I fell in love with all the characters and I’m so excited to see what the next books bring!
Rating ⭐️: 5/5 Spice 🌶️: 2/5 Audio 🎧: 5/5
🎧 Audiobook review: Sean Masters and Angelina Rocca were incredible as Cal and Lola. I’ve been loving full cast audiobooks so it was fun that this book also did that!
Okay, that was FUN! I’ve actually only experienced one other story by these two fantastic authors, but I’m pretty sure I’m already an addict in need of her next fix! I’ve read both their works as individual authors, so you’d think I’d be able to tell “who wrote what” but this was seamless and an utter delight and I have no clue and don’t care! LOL I just know I’m gonna need more of “it” in my life ASAP!
I, honest to God, laughed out loud more times than I can count. I felt this story from the very beginning. Not the kind of “felt” like angst or drama, but the kind of “felt” that lights you up inside and wraps you in sunshine. I was happy reading this story from beginning to end. It’s a really great put-together story and I find myself without more words for you! LOL I mean, what more do you need, amirite?
I can’t wait to listen to this story, because I know that with the cast of performers these ladies have put together it is going to be an epic party in my ears! I AM GIDDY!
This was such a highly entertaining, laugh out loud, SWOONY story! If you loved the momcoms series, buckle up because you’re about to fall head over heels for this series!
🩵 Surprise single dad 🩵 Workplace romance 🩵 He falls first 🩵 Lawyer MMC 🩵 Forced proximity 🩵 Banter GALORE
Cal was such a playful goofball but as the story continued on, we got to see more of his layers unravel. The way he jumped right into fatherhood with both feet and wanted to do his best by Murphy was just so incredibly sweet. And the way he paid attention to all the small details about Lola and went out of his way to make her day 😭😭😭. SWOON CITY!
Lola is a black cat FMC with such a huge heart and capacity for others. She silently took care of the people around her, and seeing her come into her own and take what SHE wants was so beautiful.
Performed duet style by Angelina Rocca and Sean Masters, with a full cast including Connor Crais, Stephen Dexter, & CJ Bloom. If you know me, you know Sean Masters is one of my favorite male narrators and he brought Cal to life perfectly, capturing his goofy yet heartfelt nature. And that British accent? 🥵 100/10! Angelina Rocca was a wonderful Lola, bringing her sassy, headstrong nature to the forefront and highlighting the way she slowly softened to Cal & Murphy. The full cast was just the icing on the cake, adding 3 more all star narrators to the experience! This is truly a PRODUCTION of an audiobook and I can’t recommend you experience this story any other way!
This was such a good opening to this series, introducing all of the characters and I cannot wait to continue on 😍.
Excuse me while I continue to sing 🎶 whatever Lola wants 🎶 for the foreseeable future.
Thank you so much to Brittanee Nicole and Jenni Bara for the ALC of Who’s Your Daddy!
🗓️ Who's Your Daddy, book 1 in the new Dadcoms is out NOW 🩵!!! If you read Momcoms and loved this wait until you meet these guys. Good news though, if you haven't read the momcoms that is ok! You can start here 😉!!

This story had me laughing out loud multiple times! Cal was such a goodball which is the opposite of head strong, serious Lola. When Cal gets the surprise of a lifetime... (He's had a kid he had no clue about). We get to see the real kind and caring Cal. He will do anything and everything for Murphy (and Lola 😉) no questions asked. He's down for "whatever Lola wants". And when they snap and finally get together 🥵!!
The whole crew in this series has my attention. I loved every single character and what they brought to the table. I can not wait for the next two books and all the messy fun I just know we are going to get into!
🎧 Holy MOLY this audio performance 👏🏼 @angelinaroccareads was perfect as Lola. Headstrong, caretaker of the group who learns it's ok to let people help you. @seanmastersaudio As Cal 👏🏼 an absolute blast. How many times did you crack up singing "whatever Lola wants?!" This full cast narration brought EVERYTHING to the table. Run now and whispersync this bad boy or use that credit 😉 it's worth it!
Screaming a big ole thank you to Britt & Jenni for this ALC, a true gift.
If you’re looking for a cute, happy read.. this is it. 😊
Premise: Cal and his business partners (brother, Sully and brothers best friend, Brian) have to move their law office from NY to NJ and live together as part of some crazy stipulation in their dad’s will. They end up in a dive, bug infested office and attached apt.
At the same time, Cal finds out that he’s the father to a 6 yrs old son, Murphy. His mother, who Cal doesn’t remember, literally drops him off at the office in NY. Murphy moves with them to their apt in NJ.
Cal is portrayed as a man who doesn’t really take life seriously and has a joke for everything. He has always had a hidden thing, however, for their paralegal, Lola. Lola moves with them to NJ but in a separate apt.
The story is basically of Lola seeing the real Cal beneath the retriever energy and Cal turning his infatuation with Lola into love.
- No third act breakup. They do sleep together at about 50% when they go on a business trip together. Cal is fully infatuated w her and she is still resisting. They kind of “break up” for a bit at this point, even tho they’re still working together. - No miscommunication. They each talk to the other and pretty much know how they feel. Cal hides his true self behind his mask of silliness and she’s overly serious. - Opposites attract - boss/employee - Surprise kid: Murphy is the catalyst that allows us to see Cal for the kind and dependable person that he is. He’s smart, witty and good addition to the story. - No OM/OW. Cal is portrayed as a player, but we don’t see any of this. He is devoted to Lola throughout the entire story. - Spice - around 50% and then more later. - Low angst. We know they each care about each other; it’s a light read. - Dual POV; happy for now. They move in together w Murphy. - Family: Sully and Brian, the two other members of the firm and future stories. Sully is trying to get back together w his currently estranged wife.
If you can ignore the slightly implausible premise - why on earth do they have to move and why is the building such an absolute shit hole. Why is Cal SO extremely silly? What happened in his childhood to make him insecure? We get no explanations.
We know why Lola is so serious and we see her fall for Cal which is really sweet. The relationship between Cal, Lola, and Murphy is also well done. I liked seeing Lola stand up and really believe in Cal, when questioned by Brian. And I really liked how Cal was always looking out for her; even before they were together.
But anyhoo, it’s a sweet fun happy story. Enjoy!

4 stars for Cal, Lola, and Murphy. Thank you to The Author Agency for this ARC. If you loved The Mom Coms, there’s no way you won’t enjoy this book. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who was a fan of that chaotic bunch. Let me start by saying that the secret baby/child trope is something I usually avoid-it always breaks my heart and makes me cry. Yes, I did cry for Cal and his missed opportunities to be the best dad to Murphy. But I really liked this book, and I’m not sorry I gave it a chance, even if I’m not usually a fan of the trope. Cal and Lola were the perfect couple for a workplace romance, and I really enjoyed their interactions. They were funny, cute, and just so easy to like. I always enjoy a good reverse grumpy–sunshine dynamic, and here it was done perfectly. Little Murphy was the sweetest child, and my heart actually ached for him. I’m so glad we got to see his relationship with Cal develop-and how much they truly loved and cared for each other. His bond with Lola was just as sweet. I hope we get to see more of Murphy and how his relationship with his new family grows in future books. The spice in the book was really well done. I loved how Cal treated Lola, and how Lola finally believed in Cal and gave him the chance to prove he’s an amazing man. I was so excited to see some of the characters from The Mom Coms pop up. Of course, it’s always a pleasure every time Beckett appears in any book. I’m really excited to read the next one-and really looking forward to the “marriage in trouble” storyline. I think this trope doesn’t get nearly enough love, and I can’t wait to see what the authors have in store for us.

I was lucky enough to get the ALC and the cast of narrators were freaking top notch. I’m a huge fan of the MomCom Series so I was excited for a 2.0 version of that. There’s banter, some spice 2 🌶️, and a great story. I really connected with the child welfare aspect since that’s my career. It was amazing to see that highlighted in a book. Sean Masters did the perfect British accent and Cal was the golden retriever we all want!
When the Dad Coms series was announced, I knew we’d be in for a ridiculously good time. Brittanee & Jenni never disappoint — individually and as a team — and this story is no exception!
🩵Single dad 💙Surprise kid 🩵Rom com 💙Workplace romance 🩵Golden retriever MMC 💙Black cat FMC 🩵He falls first & hard
The premise of this story is as chaotic and delightfully quirky as we could hope for — with three men being forced to move in together in New Jersey (along with their paralegal, FMC Lola) to fulfill the terms of a trust for their law firm, set forth by two of the guys’ dad. Add to that MMC Cal getting the surprise of a lifetime when a 6-year old son he didn’t know existed is dropped off at the firm, and you can see the setup for a crazily compelling story.
This is a rom com to be sure — but it’s so full of moments that squeeze your heart and bring out so many emotions. From Cal’s evolving relationship with his sweet boy to Lola and Cal’s growing love story, this one was just so fun to read.
The road to their new normal is anything but smooth, with hilarious antics abounding left and right. But it was so fun to see how Lola, Cal, and Murphy become wildly important to each other in very little time.
It’s clear family - real and found - will be integral to this series and I cannot wait for what’s to come!
Thanks to the authors and Luna Literary Mgmt for the chance to read this arc!
Who's Your Daddy by Brittanee Nicole & Jenni Bara was exceptionally exquisite. Huge thanks to The Author Agency for letting me read an advanced copy.
As always with these two authors, you know what to expect: brother’s best friend vibes, swoon-worthy men, absolutely adorable kids who steal the spotlight, and strong, fierce, successful women.
Cal and Lola were such an incredible couple. From the very beginning, you can see how this man would literally worship the ground she walks on. You like that specific iced coffee from XX street in New York? He’s already bringing it. Gluten-free pizza? Done. That dress you bought months ago? He’ll make sure you know it matches your shoes perfectly. That’s Cal.
On the other hand, Lola isn’t as much about grand gestures toward him directly, but she does something even more beautiful—she builds a genuine bond with his son, Murphy. From the very first moment, she’s there for him, breaking down the walls that little 6-year-old had built after losing faith in adults. And watching Murphy end up being the #1 fan of Cal and Lola’s relationship—wanting nothing more than to wrap them up and keep them together—was just heart-melting.
All in all, this story was sweet, fun, and full of heart. And that ending??? Let’s just say… I need the next one ASAP because it’s going to be SO GOOD. I’m all in!!
Thank you to Luna Literary for sending me an eARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
When Terry Murphy died, he left his company to his 3 boys (2 sons and their best friend) who would be equal partners of his law firm, however in order for them to take over, he has stipulated that they must move to a run down office in Jersey and all live together as a family for 1 whole year.
They are only allowed to bring one paid member of staff with them so of course they do whatever they can to persuade Lola (Brian's paralegal) to join them.
Cal is the fun loving, seemingly unserious and annoying brother who lives to rile Lola up. She can't stand him, or so we think! Another big surprise lands in their lap just as they are about to move to Jersey and watching them navigate it as a family is lovely, even if there are a bunch of creepy crawlies making it difficult!!
A great introductions to the DadComs and I'm looking forward to reading books 2 and 3.
I absolutely loved the Mom Coms and was so excited when the Dad Coms series was announced! Brittanee & Jenni never disappoint with giving us a book filled with so many laughs and some chaos as well! When Murphy is dropped off at the law firm, it’s safe to say that Cal is extremely surprised.
The banter between Cal & Lola is top tier and I love it!! Lola might always be annoyed with Cal, but once she starts to see through that playful exterior, things start to shift! I absolutely love everything about this and devoured this book in a day!
Audiobook: Performed in duet with a full cast and this audio was absolutely amazing to listen to!! Angelina Rocca was so perfect as Lola and I loved Sean Masters as Cal, plus he killed that British accent! And then Connor Crais (Sully), CJ Bloom (Sloane), and Stephen Dexter (Brian) absolutely crushed their performances as well! If you love audiobooks, then I’d 10/10 recommend listening to this one!
Thank you so much to Brittanee Nicole & Jenni Bara for letting me read/listen to an ARC & ALC of the book!

Title (Dadcoms, Book 1) Author: Brittanee Nicole and Jenni Bara Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️
After being hit with the news that the legal office he owns is being abruptly moved to Jersey, Cal is given another life-changing surprise: a 6-year-old son. While the mother failed to mention Cal’s son until that very moment, he is now stepping up to become a father while also navigating the move. Lola, the paralegal at his company, steps in to help everyone adapt to this new life, but all the time spent together uncovers some feelings no one even knew were there.
A lighthearted read with just the right amount of turmoil sprinkled in, Cal and Lola had me needing to know what was going to happen next. Cal is a goofball to say the least, always there to provide a laugh and even get the ever-so-serious Lola to crack a smile. He really brings the comedy to this rom-com. While so serious on the outside, Lola was a behind-the-scenes softy at heart. This was made very evident through all the secret problem-solving she did for Cal and Murphy. As we get to know Cal and Lola in this book, we are also set up for each of the additional partners’ books, and I am thoroughly excited for the rest of this series.

ARC REVIEW of Book 1 in Brittanée Nicole & Jenni Bara’s new Dad Com series!
Callahan Murphy lives to torment Lola Caruso and she can’t stand him. When his father suddenly dies and his family’s law firm must move from NYC to Jersey for 365 days he thinks life can’t get much more difficult. Until a 6 year old boy, Murphy, shows up with a note around his neck stating Cal’s his father. Now Cal can’t live to torment Lola anymore because he needs her help with Murphy. Is Lola willing to deal with Cal’s annoying antics for his son? And does Lola really dislike Cal as much as she believes or has she had blinders on all these years?
Callahan Murphy is the epitome of silly and aloof, but also so aware of the needs of those around him. Lola has been serious for so long that it was nice to see her slowly unravel and allow a little bit of Cal’s silliness to influence her. And oh, Murphy. My heart broke for the serious little boy who just wanted stability, but seeing his relationship with Cal and Lola flourish was beautiful. And when he finally called Cal dad? 🥹 Can’t wait to see how Sully is gonna win over Sloane in the next book. I imagine there will be lots of groveling..
Cal was a straight up goofball, and the total opposite to Lola’s type A personality - but I loved the way they connected and bonded once they were on the same page and came together to support Cal’s new found fatherhood! And I really loved how much Cal jumped straight into caring for Murphy and doing everything possible to be there for his son!
Murphy 🥹 was my favorite part, I’m a sucker for a serious little kid that just needs to know he can count on the people around him!
Very excited to see where the next DadCom story takes us 👀 and this was a great set up for the rest of our MMCs and their stories! Plus it’s always great to see so many cameos from all of our favorites, and I loved the familial tie-ins to some past MCs!

Surprise child Workplace romance Single dad Rom Com Dislike to love
Duet multicast narration - Sean Masters, Angelina Rocca, Connor Crais, Stephen Dexter, CJ Bloom
Fantastic narration. This groups of narrators are so amazing together.
Cal is a golden retriever book boyfriend. I love how goofy he is but he still gets shit done and of course can handle himself in the spicy department. What he is most definitely not prepared for is a child to show up, he is not prepared to be a dad but with the help of Lola and his brother & friends he rocks it!
Lola is a grumpy paralegal for the law firm Cal, Sully, and Brian work for. Spending a year in New Jersey due to stipulations laid out in Cal & Sullys fathers will was not part of the plan.
One falling apart office building/apartment, a tentant physic, and some crazy shenanigans happening in this fabulously written romantic comedy. Highly recommend!
Who’s Your Daddy is guaranteed to make you laugh, swoon and fall in love with Cal, our first mmc in the Dad Coms series.
This cute story revolves around Cal, Lola and his sweet boy, Murphy. When circumstances changes everything around them and turns their world upside down, Cal and Lola team up to help him with his newly discovered son, Murphy. Throughout this story, you get entertaining banter, a sweet romance, hot chemistry and plenty of funny moments.
I really enjoyed seeing the multiple sides to Cal. He could be goofy, sweet or serious. I never knew what to expect with him. And Lola? She was such a firecracker. Fiercely protective of Murphy, she delivered plenty of beautiful moments with him and made it easy to see why Cal and Murphy loved her.
You also get to know the two other lawyers that completes this series throughout this book and I’m looking foward to see what comes next for this lovely bunch of lawyers!
If you enjoy romcoms, you should definitely check this one out!
I would like to thank Brittanée Nicole and Jenni Bara for the opportunity to read and review Who’s Your Daddy.
This book is hilarious. You will find yourself smiling while you’re reading it and also literally laughing out loud. Lola and Cal are the ultimate opposites and their attraction is undeniably addictive to read. When Cal is faced with a surprise son on his doorstep Lola immediately steps in to assist him whether that’s being a bonus caretaker or giving him the confidence to believe he can be a parent (in some truly unconventional ways).
Some of the cutest moments in this book are Cal’s instinct to protect his kid even while expressing kid like qualities. Lola tries really hard not to give into her attraction but the more she sees Cal stepping up the more she feels her walls crumbling. If you want a cute read with just the right amount of spice and loads of laughs, this is the booking for you.
Tropes: single dad three men and a baby vibes reverse grumpy x sunshine workplace romance romcom Dual POV
Who's Your Daddy is a fun time office romance! Have you ever seen the movie Three Men and a Baby? This book reminds me of that only it's 3 men, 1 female paralegal, 2 kids, 1 ghost, and 1 medium. ROFL Honestly it's hilarious. The banter in this one had me laugh out loud, which I always enjoy in a book. I can't wait to read the next one... oh yes because that ending definitely set up book 2.
This series focuses on a NYC family law firm who, according to a trust, has to spend 1 year in New Jersey, back at it's roots. That means the two sons, and their best friend who run the office all have to move, and share a paralegal. In Jersey. Well before they leave town, Cal, receives a gift to the office... in the embodiment of a 6 year old son he didn't know about. How on earth will they all survive NJ and the 2nd stipulation... they all live together for the next year?
Cal... oh I love a man with an accent. For a man who seems... like an air head, he has so many layers to him that i just became obsessed with. He immediately jumps into dad role. Never once questioning why, and proving how large his heart really is. Also, his banter was great! I love his silliness and his child-like personality. For real, for someone with a rep as a "man child" he really was endearing!
Lola, or Lo, was also a fun time. She's grumpy to Cal's sunshine. She is great with kids, hates Jersey, and is constantly questioning her current life choices. But watching her come to terms with all that Cal has to offer was beautiful. Also, I love how she cared for both Cal and Murphy, kept the office going, and constantly replaces Cal's fish and plants LOL
I really enjoyed all the characters and that's another reason I'm excited for the next book. I hope we get more from Madame Esmeralda and Sebastian because they are a hoot. Also, I need more Fuzzy because him thinking his name is "Damnit" had me rolling!
I liked this one, but maybe not as much as Brittanee and Jenni's other books, especially the Momcoms. I loved the idea of doing a Dadcoms! This is different though, because while the moms chose to live together, in this series, the dads are forced to live together. I liked the character cameos from the other series and mentions of the other teams and families. I did feel somewhat confused and lost in the beginning; I felt like we were kind of thrust into this new world with little to no explanation and just expected to root for characters we know nothing about. However, it got a bit better as the book went on and I feel like we will get more backstory as the series goes on. I do love Cal and Lola! They were perfect for each other. The banter was on point, and the chemistry was certainly there. I felt like this was more serious than the other books I have read from these two authors, but I think this book required it because of the storyline surrounding Cal's son, Murphy. His son's mother didn't tell Cal he that Murphy existed and just abandons him at six years old. Cal spends the book fighting for Murphy, with Lola's help. I loved this storyline! Overall, I think it was a good start to the series, but I do feel like it was missing something and I needed more?
*There is a line towards the beginning of the book, where a character uses the term "slow" to describe another person, and I just find this term outdated, one we do not use anymore due to being insulting to the disabled community. I wanted to point this out because I do hope it is changed prior to publication.*
Thank you to The Author Agency, Brittanee Nicole, and Jenni Bara for the eARC of this book.
This book was something different entirely and exactly what I needed. Ever since reading the Mom Coms series that both these authors plus two others wrote, I have been obsessed with the universe they have all grown where you see so many of the characters again. Well, Brittanée and Jenni did it again by bringing us the Dad Coms series that follows two brothers and their best friend within that bigger book universe.
Cal was first up, Cal is one of the lawyers at the firm that his dad ran until he passed but there is a stipulation that in order to get full inheritance and control of the firm they all have to move to Jersey and move in together and rebuild relationships for some of them. But Cal gets an even bigger shock when a 6-year-old boy is left at the building by his mother with a note that calls Cal the dad. Safe to say Cal can barely keep anything alive and is free-spirited to say the least, a man-child in Lola's eyes.
I loved Lola, Lola is the paralegal at the firm and against her best wishes joins the three plus Cal's surprise son in Jersey which is the exact opposite of what she could ever want to do. I love an office romance especially when they are written this way. Although Lola found Cal extremely annoying most of the time, he definitely wore her down over time and so giving in to temptation had never been better for her.
I love the fact that Cal and Lola are practically opposites but they just work so well together and prove that through many things that Lola does for Cal without him knowing and Cal displays everything quite visually how he sees fit.
I am so excited for the other books in the series especially with an opener like that!! Although the next book sounds very exciting!!
Legal assistant and court appointed transitional guardian Lola is no stranger to meeting children who are the object of contentious custody disputes and helping them at the outset of their cases, but she’s never had one literally dropped on her (work) doorstep until her very annoying albeit super hot colleague is presented with a six year old son he knew nothing about.
Hotshot attorney Cal has just learned he’s going to be moving not just offices but residences to New Jersey from Manhattan with his law partners in order to fulfill the terms of their father’s will. As this information is coalescing, he finds out a brief affair he doesn’t recall resulted in a precocious son who’s been dumped into his care with no warning or plan. Navigating the new normal which is anything but becomes a bit easier with the lovely but prickly Lola firmly in Cal and his son’s corner.
The road to nurturing this new family is anything yet smooth, and in very short order Lola, Cal, and Murphy become vital to each other.
This was somewhat of a frustrating read for about the first 25%, particularly with regard to no one suggesting reaching out to Murphy’s mother until the child literally asks to use a cell phone to call her. Also I hadn’t read any of the previous series’ books, and there were key points about them which were not addressed or skimmed over in this one.
I received an advance reader copy from The Author Agency, and I’m sharing my honest review.
Callahan Murphy is a lawyer and is taken by surprise when the terms of his dad’s trust for the law firm require him and the two others in the firm to move into a run down place in NJ. (The Jersey girl in me was torn between laughing or being offended at how much they were against moving to NJ!) But the surprises didn’t stop there for Cal. He also discovered that he was the father of a young son, Murphy, and his mom left Cal to take care of him. Cue instant panic. Murphy was such a mature child for six, probably more mature than Cal and it made an interesting and hilarious journey as they navigated their new father son relationship.
𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑵𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒔: Callahan Murphy & Lola Caruso 𝑺𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈: New Jersey
Lola is the paralegal for the firm and she is also moving in with the guys. She hasn’t paid Cal any mind for some time but now that they are in such close quarters, and she is around more helping with Murphy, she can no longer look the other way to his charm. Callahan is such a book boyfriend, he is the guy who notices all the things. He will buy you the perfect shoes to match the dress you have. He is determined to show Lola that he has always seen her. But will Lola see him as someone serious or just the fun good time guy?
The chemistry between these two is deliciously hot! Their banter is hilarious and full of lots of snark. By the time their walls come down, it’s swoony, steamy, and everything a rom-com lover could want.
ARC Review 📖 Who’s Your Daddy Dad Coms Book 1 Brittanée Nicole & Jenni Bara @authorbrittaneenicole @jennibarabooks
Oh my! Where can I get myself a Callahan Murphy! She can't stand him but he secretly has been obsessed with her for a while. I'm swooning over how he knows so much about her and she is slowly becoming aware of him and it gives her butterflies. He does what he can to make her happy “ whatever Lola wants Lola gets”. He becomes obsessed with her freckles once he realizes that she has them.
He's a walking chaos storm but when he sees her the storm inside of him clams and the laser focuses on her. He can get very territorial and jealous when someone steals Lola's attention from him.
I love every minute of this "found family" dynamic with the Murphy boys. So much so that it alone gets me excited for the other books. The Dad coms are not pulling any punches. I laughed at this book from start to finish while I was rooting for Cal to win Lola over. But not only Lola but Murphy too. What a fun read! I highly recommend this book if you need a good laugh and a warm hug.
Callahan “Cal” Murphy is a lawyer whose world gets turned upside down when his firm is forced to move to a dilapidated office in Jersey. Imagine his surprise when his six-year-old son, who he had no knowledge of, is suddenly dropped off at the office.
Lola “Lo” Caruso, the ultimate black-cat paralegal working at the firm, is forced to move alongside her bosses to Jersey, keeping everyone’s lives from imploding.
Now the goofy, golden-retriever Cal must navigate fatherhood while continuing to torment Lola. But this teasing soon turns into something deeper, as their circumstances force them into each other’s orbit in an entirely new way.
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸: top-tier banter, swoon-worthy men, hilarious antics that will have you laughing out loud, strong women, and kids who will steal your heart.
If you were a fan of the 𝘔𝘰𝘮 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘴, expect all your favourite elements, plus a fresh and exciting new story that will have you laughing out loud, swooning, and feeling all the heartfelt moments.
Ultimately, this is a story about family, coming together, and overcoming obstacles.
Brittanee and Jenni have knocked it out of the park once again, and I cannot 𝗪𝗔𝗜𝗧 to read the next book in the series.
Lola is a single paralegal working for a family law firm of which 2 are brothers and when the dad dies suddenly they are forced to move to NJ for a year to fulfill his demand of his will and she is the only assistant moving with them. She is beyond irritated because she finds Cal so annoying but secretly she’s attracted to him.
Cal has been in love with Lola since she started working at the firm but was warned by his dad to stay away from her because he was a player and too immature but when a young boy is dropped off at the office with and turns out to be Cal’s son he has no choice but to grow up and prove to his son and Lola he can be a good dad and a man worthy of her. I instantly fell in love with these two once they stopped denying their attraction and got together. I loved the mom coms series and this new one did not disappoint.
This was such a fun read! I fell in love with this little found family and the revisit of characters from other books! If you're looking for a light romantic heartwarming comedy and some spice this book is for you! Brittanee Nicole and Jenni Bara did not disappoint! These are two of my favorite authors and you will fall in love with their writing like I have. I can't wait for the next book!
Thank you to Brittanee Nicole & Jenni Bara for an e-Arc copy of this book.
