Some of these poems deserve not 5 stars but a whole constellation.

This book made me feel whole again. Emery Allen has a way of pointing out the holes in my heart while communicating that they do not make me less than complete. Read it in one go, read it again, and then give it to your younger sisters so that they might never have to feel like they are less than.

I've kept up with Emery's blog and her writing for years, far before she compiled this book of poems... in some ways I feel like I know her? like she's a distant friend I'm rooting for. I think that's the beauty of her poetry ~ it feels deeply intimate yet it's vague enough to be universally relevant. I think her work could speak to most anyone. really, really lovely. if any friends want to borrow my copy, let me know (~:

Cried like a fucking baby, photocopied 20% of the poems and slapped them all over my wall. I am not joking.

Some poems I found exceedingly extra and pretentiousness, but others felt like God ripped out extracts of my soul and moulded them into these very words. hm.

All in all not bad, considering I hardly delve into poetry .It's been months but I still stare at the poems from time to time and get an impact. Thanks Fernando for letting me borrow your 40$ overpriced book

Also there is one grammatical error. In a poetry book. With like 30 pages. Please. Get your shit together.

I loved the book however I would not recommend buying this book until she made few edits to it and adds more poems too because there were few spelling and grammar mistakes, I'm not one to care but when you pay alot for a book, you expect it to be excellent. So don't buy this book yet until she makes changes.

★★ 2/5

Favourite quote:
"Remember that you don't need many people, and don't lower yourself so you'll have more."

I purchased this book when I was 18, and I probably should've read it when I was 18, haha!
I believe younger me would have loved it, but current me didn't enjoy it as much. There was only a couple of poems that stood out to me.
Also, this is my first time reviewing poetry, it's definitely different to other genres!

A quick, easy read.
A couple of lovely poems.

There were SO many spelling mistakes, that it took away from what she was trying to express in her poetry.

So this book of 49 pages including its empty pages will make you cry out of relief because it contains beautiful truths.

Very short but the poems were beautiful and unique. I loved it, especially the paragraph about grief which hit me extremely hard.

The book is full of beautiful imagery and emotion but the poems are not fully formed. Allen has brilliant potential.
