Lee is the perfect alpha in every respect. Dignified, rich, handsome, smart, active in the shifter community—he’s the dream of every available she-wolf and omega in the city. But not even stunning paragons of success such as Lee are immune to the shared plight of most children: mothers hounding them to settle down with a mate. To appease his dear mama, Lee reluctantly agrees to attend a date she’s arranged with a gorgeous she-wolf.
So Lee suffers through an atrocious date with an atrocious woman, but things look up the moment he meets her cousin—Ryan, a shy and timid omega male that Lee is absolutely smitten with. Will Lee be able to woo the shy omega out of his shell?
An Unexpected Mate is a sexy love story featuring hunky gay werewolves and a rags-to-riches romance, and hot, steamy action with male bonding, male pregnancy, human knotting, and more!
Having been a kitchenhand, freelance translator, office administrator, and retail assistant (never again!) in six different countries, Alex Ashmore is now turning to the art of putting stories down in (e-)ink, and especially enjoys writing M/M romances with happy endings.
2.5 stars. So this is the second story I've read from this author and I was sorely disappointed in the first, but I wanted to give her a fair shake so I chose another one. This one was still sweet with the kind of MC's I love to see together and though it was longer and a little more in depth, the story didn't have much in the way of teeth.
Lee wasn't the wealthy, cultured and dignified man the blurb proclaimed, but a regular joe that made it good and still acted like it. Ryan matched the blurb, but we hardly got to know him. In fact, we didn't really get to see the relationship between these two men, only little snippets that were told between time jumps and the sum-ups that came with them.
The conflict that could have been produced by Lydia, was never followed through and her characters introduction for the purpose of bringing the MC's together became a moot thread. They could have had a chance encounter simply bumping into one another on the street and the same outcome would have been achieved.
Once again, there's so much potential being lost simply because the stories aren't being explored. It's a shame because they could be such fun, sweet reads. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be trying anymore offerings from this author.
Edited to change female characters name. Victoria was from Devlin which I read just before this.
The story is simple, cliche and kind of boring, the only reasons it has 2 stars is the slightly entertaining it gives. There's no real background story, there's no evolution, the passing is hacked and wacked to mush, the sexual intercourse is badly written and it feels more like a fanfiction done by a 12 year old than a proper romance novel. It takes 25 minutes to finish also. While it did entertained me I don't really recommend it
O livro só tem flashes, parece que pegaram partes de um livro juntaram e jogaram o resto fora. Falta muito, tem coisa que rola, depois simplesmente é esquecido e se segue pra próxima cena completamente.

Summary: Lee would do anything to get his off his case and please her, but he never expected that he blind date she set up would change his life forever. Lee thought that Lydia was beautiful until she opened her mouth and never shut up ever! Between her self important non-stop talking to her belittling of everyone around her, Lee couldn't wait for the date to end. When a cousin, Ryan, called in need of a ride, Lee was astounded by her callous refusal to assist him because family is everything to Lee. Lee came to his aid and Lee was immediately drawn to his. Ryan's kind and loving nature was a surprise especially after Lee learned how badly he had been treated by his family and all because he was an omega. Lee's determination to show Ryan that he deserved so much more out of live and he knew to take things each day as it came. Lee's patience and understanding may be what Ryan needed and could give him that love that he was looking for. Lee's mother played a brief, but funny part in this story as she demanded not requested Lee mate and have children, but even she couldn't have guessed what that outcome would be!
It's hard to write a review for a story when it's so short. The idea for An Unexpected Mate was interesting, but it moved so fast the emotional aspects of the story didn't really grab me. It's not poorly written, there just isnt enough meat to chew on for this one.
Lee is a wealthy, sought out, well-rounded Alpha who is a bachelor. This isn't a very long story.
Lee's mother sets him up with a blind date. It's a disaster, yet it ends well. Well his date was horrible. She is super stuck-up and rude. She even treats her (brother, cousin?) who is town, an Omega, with disrespect. Lee won't be having that though.
Ryan, is an Omega who is from the other side of the railroad tracks. He isn't wealthy. He isn't even on the same map, but he feels a connection towards the kind Alpha. He is surprised that Lee seeks him out and wants to pursue him.
After that, I don't really remember the details of them being together. I know they ended up together in the end... but that's it.
This story was so much better than the previous stories because I didn't have to cringe through the sex scenes. Lee goes on a blind date with Lydia and ends up meeting her cousin Ryan. The story then follows Lee and Ryan from that first drive home to the upcoming birth of their pup. Well paced for a short story focusing on the relationship. When Lee did eventually claim Ryan there was no mention of the female parts that ruined the previous stories.
Would love it if a second book focusing on Ryan's life before meeting Lee. For the epilogue I would like for Ryan to having had the baby, (a boy), and "Lee and Ryan thinking about their and their child's future.:)
Compare to the authors other stories I thought this was a bit better developed. There was a bit of relationship development before the two moved onto mating. I liked seeing/reading about their date and the time they spent together. Readers got a light view of each characters personalities. Overall a pretty good read.
It was too short! If this book could have been 100 pages longer, I think it would have been awesome. There was so much potential to explore - Lee's business, how Ryan is/was treated, Lydia the bitch trying to cause problems...
As it was, this was a quick, sweet story and I enjoyed it. Based on this read, I will happily look for more by this author.
Sweet story with a twist to having babies. Does he have to be in wolf form to deliver? I can not see how it can happen as a human but whatever... it was still a cute story.
A feel good story, that was short and sweet. I like that Ryan found his happy every after and got to stick it to his terrible family especially his smutty cousin Lydia.
This a first read for me with this author and I will definitely be reading more of his books. The characters are well developed and adorable. There isn't any violence in this book. I definitely liked this book and am hoping to have a second book after.
Finally I found a copy of this book. But to be honest, it wasn't what I was expecting.. It was to short, not as hot or exciting.. I'm generally ok with the whole insta love, but I felt like a lot of things were taken out of the book.. It was like they met, They got together, the end...
