Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
type of book: chapter book, fiction
Awards: none
Summary: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is about a poor boy by the name of Charlie who dreamed of winning the contest to go to Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. His family got him a chocolate bar for his birthday in hopes that he would find one of the five golden tickets in the chocolate bar. He didn't win in that moment but eventually and he got to tour the worlds greatest chocolate factory. The factory was full of surprises such as oompa loompa's, and other fun/strange things. Something so surprising and exciting happens to Charlie at the end.

Critique: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a book that is full of surprises. I personally liked the book because it was exciting and I wanted to keep reading. The vocabulary might be better for upper grades. It wasn't what I was expecting since I have seen the movie. There are a lot of differences in the descriptions and dialogue. It was still a great book and I would recommend it.

Prompts: What do you think is going to happen to Agustes Gloop?
Do you think the Ommpa Loopas knew that was going to happen?
What do you predict is going to happen next?
Why would Wonka make a gum even though he hates gum?
What do you think is going to happen to Violet? do you think she will go back to normal?
Craft activity: I would do a prediction activity with this book. Since the book has surprises in every page it would be fun to see what students think would happen next. I would also discuss factories and maybe have the students come up with their own factory with a story attached to the picture, describing the factory, who will run it, what they will make, and why.

-Discussion Questions:
1.In this book, some children were punished at the factory
because they have problems like big eater, video game freak, etc.
They are very similar to current problems of children.
So then, what do you warry about current children?
Answer:
Selfishness is very difficult problem.
In young, children study self-control or something like that.
However someone should be a victim, so it's difficult, I think.

It's very musical form of overall the movie.
Do you like musical? And do you know other movies like musical tune.

Recently I watched "High School Musical".
It was also musical style, so it gave wonderful mood to me.
