It's a neat little book to get you in the mood to clean. It's the Stuart Smalley daily affirmations of the decluttering world. There's nothing new in here, but it can be read in an hour. It helps you accept that you have clutter and attempts to motivate you to do something about it in 10 minutes a day or while the bathtub fills up. It's a lot of repeated info and advice, but I read it on my commute and was motivated to pair down a shirt drawer when I got home.
This was a quick read. Many of the pages are just little affirmations to help you get in the decluttering mood ("Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not one bit simpler" - Albert Einstein). There were some good ideas in here, but nothing I haven't seen in the many other decluttering books/magazines/blogs I have read. Really, I need to start my decluttering by NOT buying more decluttering books.
Neat, little book. While the author is certainly no Marie Kondo, she offers easy and practical ideas and suggestions for decluttering, organizing, and tidying for busy women, particularly moms. Complete with inspirational quotes on happiness being derived from simplicity, this book is a nice accompaniment to 'The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up.'
A good kick in the pants to get going (again) on decluttering and cleaning. This book is a helpful combo of specific tasks and pep talk. I read it in a sitting, though I think it would be good for dipping into when you need encouragement to get out of your easy chair at 9pm on a work night and declutter one more shelf before bed.
This book has lots of tips and tricks for how to get started on your decluttering journey. I personally am very far into my journey, so I didn't pick up anything new, but I did get inspired remembering how easy it can be to clean and declutter in the right mindset. Quick easy read.
I gained little value from this book due to my minimalist lifestyle. Though, for those who are looking for a place to start with decluttering and being more purposeful with your things, by all means give this book a read. It is short, fun, and offers some nifty tricks for any person who prefers to be tidy.
This book does not have anything earth shattering in it. Having said that, there were enough ideas in it that I had not previously considered to make it worth the read. It does focus a lot of a family home with kids, which was not super relevant to me. Still, I enjoyed it!
Useful, practical, familiar advice - but pretty much what you'll find in all the decluttering books. Some of the advice is very good, some is useless. As so often happens, there is the assumption that the reader has children and a house.
Quick read, filled with practical little tips, many of which are common organizational ideas found in other books. However, the quick read with short tips breaks up organizing into manageable tasks. It was just what I needed to give me a little boost in motivation to get my house in order!
I just scrolled through (kindle version from library on my phone) and enjoyed some of the tips for sure. Nothing I didn’t know but I did like some of the websites she gave and I utilize these ideas already. Quick but good!
Great book with simple to use easy tips! I plan on using some of the suggestions to work though some areas of my condo. Let the organization and de clutter begin tomorrow but small steps best as I learned.
This is a simple, easy to read, back-to-basics kind of de-clutter book. Tips can be applied in one minute. Explanations are fun and creative. Donna Smallin has presented a challenging topic and made the task most enjoyable. She is for sure a spoon full of sugar for the medicine. Her tips can be applied where ever necessary, there is no limit on how to use what she has provided. This is a must-read.
This was a very encouraging book. Great to pick up and then be motivated to decluttering a bit. I'm definitely going to look up her other book The One-Minute Organizer Plain & Simple. Maybe I'll even get this one again to keep my momentum going.
A quick and easy to read summary of tips, tricks and little motivational quotes to get you in the right frame of mind for cleaning the clutter. Sometimes you just need a little shove in the right direction. This book will get you started.
