The heist was for her freedom. They want her heart.
Celeste is a human thief surviving in a world ruled by vampires, shifters, and fae. She’s spent years stealing magical artifacts to protect her found family. One last job—and she’s free.
But breaking into a mafia mansion doesn’t go to plan.
She’s caught by not one, but three of The Below’s most powerful men—Vincenzo Moretti, Dorian Voss, and Luca Thorne.
They should have killed her. Instead, they offer her a help them steal the Mirror of Truth, an artifact that could unravel the dark conspiracy behind The Below’s missing women.
She doesn’t trust them. She shouldn’t want them.
But danger is all she’s ever known. And falling for three deadly men? That might be her most dangerous job yet.
THEIR RECKLESS THIEF is the first standalone in The Below—a dark, steamy series of paranormal mafia romances set in a world ruled by vampires, shifters, and fae. Each book follows a different couple (or throuple+), and while their stories can be read individually, all characters are deeply interconnected, with emotional arcs and plot threads that span the series. For the richest experience and to avoid spoilers, reading in order is highly recommended.⚠️ This book is a why choose romance and contains sensitive themes that may be triggering for some readers. Please check the content warnings before reading. Your mental health always comes first.
Plot: 4.5/5 • Smut: 4.5/5 ————> This was so close to being a 5⭐️. It felt like some points were repeating, almost broken record like.
She works for an asshole pulling heists when she goes AWOL on her own into a territory she’s not supposed to be in. Breaking into a mansion where she’s clearly not supposed to be. Here’s where we meet: Vincenzo, Dorian and Luca. A vampire, a wolf shifter and a demon shadow bender. All being a little something different to the table.
Things that kept repeating, for example we hard to do the run around 3x, with each guy that she doesn’t kiss on the lips. Each guy when something happened to her that was brought on by her own actions was “who did this to you?” response.
I LOVED THAT THIS WAS A STANDALONE AND NOT THREE BOOK SERIES. Love, love love. Even if it was 600+ pages.
If you’re looking for a bad ass FMC, and three equally bad ass MMCs who will do everything and anything for her, while falling first, then this is for you. It also has really good smutty scenes. A couple group scenes. All good things.
Their Reckless Thief by Skye Wilson is a dark paranormal romance that immediately pulls you into a world where danger rules the streets, power plays are deadly, and love is anything but simple. Set in the supernatural underworld known as The Below, this story blends criminal syndicate politics with vampires, shifters, fae, and a determined human heroine willing to risk everything for her found family. From the very first chapter, it’s clear that this isn’t a light read—it’s bold, atmospheric, and filled with emotional and physical tension that rarely lets up.
Our protagonist, Celeste, is a human thief who’s done playing by anyone’s rules but her own. Her final job—stealing from a mafia mansion—is supposed to be her way out. Instead, she ends up in the clutches of three powerful supernatural men: Vincenzo, Luca, and Dorian. Each of them is dangerous in their own way, and together they give the term why-choose romance a whole new meaning. The chemistry is explosive, the banter sharp, and the emotional tension between Celeste and each of the men is filled with both vulnerability and raw magnetism. Wilson excels at writing intense relationship dynamics that go far beyond surface-level attraction.
The world-building is immersive and richly layered. The Below feels like a fully realized universe where supernatural politics, old rivalries, and mythological secrets collide. The heist plot, woven with magic and danger, adds a compelling pace to the story. There’s always the sense that betrayal could happen at any moment—and often does. It creates a suspenseful atmosphere that keeps you guessing, even through quieter moments.
That said, the story’s biggest strength—its ambition—is also what holds it back just slightly. At over 600 pages, the pacing sometimes falters. Some sections feel a bit too drawn out, and while the relationships are central, there are moments when the emotional exploration feels rushed or surface-level compared to the book’s sprawling plot. Celeste is an engaging heroine, but I wanted a bit more insight into her internal struggles beyond survival. Similarly, with three love interests, certain dynamics shine brighter than others, and at times it felt like fewer romantic threads might have allowed for deeper development.
Still, Their Reckless Thief is a gripping and seductive read that knows exactly what it is—and unapologetically delivers on the promise of dark romance, sizzling tension, and high-stakes supernatural drama. It's perfect for fans of morally gray heroes, complex relationship dynamics, and stories where nothing—and no one—is safe. Skye Wilson has crafted a bold, immersive tale that leaves just enough unresolved to have you itching for the next installment.
This book was a lot more than I was expecting. Clocking in at an impressive 627 pages, it’s more of a saga than simply a story. The authors (Skye Wilson is a “team of passionate writers and editors,” as their bio states) have crafted not one but two worlds filled with fascinating characters.
“Their Reckless Thief” is the first of three books set in the human world and the world known as The Below. Celeste is a woman trapped in servitude to a man who has molded her into the perfect thief, and he uses her, and others like her, to do his nefarious deeds. In a gamble to break free of his hold, Celeste risks breaking into the home of a powerful vampire mafia lord. But instead of escaping with her prize, she is captured and thrust into the world of three men who will change her life.
I was completely drawn into the world the authors created and found myself invested in the characters and their relationships and adventures. Vincenzo, Luca and Dorian were all men of mystery and power, but with vulnerabilities that helped to make them more sympathetic and attractive. Celeste was a woman on the edge, always battling for control in a world that had taken so much from her. The slow exchange of trust and passion between the characters was heady.
I would have been happy with any of the three men (though I admit a soft spot for Dorian), but Celeste was lucky to have all three fall for her. I thought the polyamorous nature of the story was handled well, with all four characters’ reasons for being a part of it making sense and weaving well together. The adventurous and suspenseful parts worked equally as well. And I was impressed with the way the authors built a complex world of creatures and humans and magic.
I also have to add that I was both surprised and appreciative that the authors chose to release the story as one book and not split it into pieces. Yes, it is long at the aforementioned 600 plus pages, but the story does a great job of pulling you in and making you enjoy the time spent. And it was much more satisfying (to me, at least) to be able to enjoy it all in one delicious meal rather than several snack sized pieces.
I’m already looking forward to returning to The Below with the promised story of Celeste’s best friend, Vivian and her romance with the mysterious and deadly protagonist of this tale, The Shadow. I can’t wait to see what happens next!.

It's not a bad book, but I found both Celeste and Vincenzo boring and underdeveloped. I lost count of how many times we were told Celeste was strong and independent (while here words, actions, and/or thoughts indicated otherwise) instead of showing her strength and independence by her actions and choices. I finished this book three or four days ago, and I don't even remember enough about Vincenzo's personality to have anything to say about him. I feel like that says a lot in itself though
The relationships between Celeste and all three males also felt forced and only there to move the plot forward. I would almost say the romance/spice was unnecessary in this story
I loved Dorian and Luca though! Dorian is such a golden retriever, (unsurprisingly given his shifter nature) and Luca gives off big Azriel/shadow daddy vibes. I need more of both of them, please.

While this probably doesn't fall in booktoks dark category and lands Mafia lite - Celeste isn’t your average heroine. She’s messy. She’s angry. She’s bleeding from a hundred invisible wounds, and still she walks into danger like it owes her something. This book doesn’t pull punches, it tears open the softest parts of you and fills them with rage, longing, and heat.
The trauma is real. The grief is real. But so is the strength. Celeste fights for her found family with teeth bared, even when she’s falling apart. And she does fall apart. I cried. IYKYK.
And if you like your morally grey mafia monsters with just enough vulnerability to ruin you... Welcome home.
This isn’t just a romance. It’s a survival story. It’s a woman clawing her way out of hell and daring to want more. Twisted, tender, and utterly unforgettable.
I really enjoyed the book and the storyline. It was a bit sad to see it end and was hoping that it was longer. I liked how the author really took the time to build up the characters and the storyline. It didn't feel rushed. The FMC was bad-ass but at the same time, she learned to let go and lean on others. The MMCs on the other hand is like the perfect person split into 3 bodies. Vincenzo, Dorian and Luca all bring in different but important roles into their relationship with Celeste. I would have to say that while I liked all of the characters, Dorian is probably my favorite. I absolutely love how confident he is in staying true to himself and in confessing how he feels. I wish the book was longer but I look forward to checking out other books from the author.

I really like this one. Smart and sassy human FMC and 3 super hot supernatural mob boses. Yes Please!! Celeste grew up on the streets and took in at a young age and taught to steal, to be a hacker and a bunch of other skills. She breaks in to the mob bosses house for the score that get her and her friends out of the business. Well she gets caught by Vincenzo who is the vampire, Dorian the wolf Shifter and Luca The Shadow Fae. lots of lessons are learned while they get closer and try to figured out who's poisoning the people in the territory. Is a standalone but with over reaching archs. Book 2 seems like Celeste friend Vivian gets her hea but prob has alot to over come first. Highly recommend.

If you like mafia romance you’ll love this story. The characters are all broken in their own way but in the end, their broken pieces fit together to form a love that none of them ever expected. Yes, the guys are mafia and are brutal in how they protect what belongs to them, but that protection extends to Celeste once she accepts them, all of them. Can’t wait for the next book to see what happens with Vivian and the Shadow.

This was a first from this author for me and I will be back for more. It was on the low end of dark, had some Mafia/organized crime vibes and was utterly delicious. My one critique is that there was too much internal angst for me, but a lot of people like that, so jump in. This is a big boi though, so be prepared for 629 pages(per my e-reader). This book was dark and suspenseful. I was expecting amazing, but this was so much more. Once I started this, I wanted to finish in one sitting. But this is just too much book for that. I was so engrossed by this one. It was spicy as ever. Wickedly twisted. I never wanted it to end. The only reason why I gave this one a four star is because there’s no hardback or paperbacks available. This is one I’d want to put on my shelves.
There were certainly things about this book that I liked, but it wasn’t as good as I thought it would be. The pacing of the relationships seemed odd and the overarching plot with The Shadow seemed underdeveloped. The book was also too long for what it was. I did really enjoy Luca a lot and the world building though!
Yes it was a good why choose. Yes it was a bit of intrigue Yes it was some heavy spice. I think the point I appreciated from this plot. It touched on drug use. Please make sure you read the trigger warnings. They were tastefully done for the most part.
Premise was good, but…..Serious pacing issues, especially with the rushed and anticlimactic ending. Skimmed several scenes that did nothing to advance the story. Needs some editing (chapter names don’t match the person who’s talking and things like that).
I enjoyed this book. The characters started with a bang and never slowed down. The characters are well developed. They have all the qualities that you’d want in a friend.
I couldn't put this book down. I read thru it like no tomorrow. It kept my attention right from the beginning. The only time I put it down was when I was eating or sleeping. Very well written. Had an excellent storyline and a very HEA..
This book had a great premise but the pacing feels all over the place. I can usually deal with it as long as there's not a bunch of filler and there were several sections that felt like filler that didn't really add to the overall plot.
I went into this book blind, I’m glad I did. I’m not sure what I was expecting with this book but it didn’t go the way I thought it would have. I really enjoyed it.
I loved loved loooved this book! Great central plot, a great villain, and a wonderful lead into the next book. I can't wait to dig into the Shadow Kings story.
