In this second of the series, Erin is now a DC and both she and Villeneuve are attached to a murder investigation when the body of a young man is found by Loch Lomond. At the same time, Erin tracks down her brother who is not exactly happy to see her.
This was another cracking read. This duo are brilliant together, chalk and cheese yet manage to somehow piece everything together to crack the case. There's plenty of rabbit holes for them to go down before they finally get to the truth. I enjoyed the personal side of things with Erin and her brother Bobby. The banter throughout provides plenty of humour and I love how Erin's upbringing and lack of knowledge of any pop culture generates plenty of laughs. I can't wait to see where the duo end up next.
No Second Spring by T.E. Scott is book 2 in the Aitkin and Villeneuve series. A body of a university student is discovered in Loch Lomond. This starts a complicated investigation, with DCI Villeneuve and DC Erin Aitkin involved. This was met with mixed reactions by the rest of the investigation team. Villeneuve is a bit of a character. In some ways she is a bit uncouth and has her own way of doing things. This certainly made me laugh at times. Erin’s traumatic childhood has shaped her, and she doesn’t find it easy to trust in order to make friends. The two of them certainly make an interesting pairing. They are like chalk and cheese. I certainly found this a great read.
