Libro che ti rende partecipe fin dalla prima parola nella vita del ciclista Nibali. Libro che appassiona, fa ridere, sorridere, ma anche riflettere. Alla fine del libro comprendi i grandi sacrifici che un atleta di alti livelli deve sopportare e fa venir voglia di mettersi in gioco nella propria vita, fa fare cambiamenti.
Assolutamente consigliato.

Loved, loved, loved this book.
I was already a huge fan of Nibali as a cyclist before reading it, but even more afterwards, both of the cyclist and the person.
Among the things I liked the most:
-The writing. I loved the autobiography style and it felt natural to me all the time, in spite of what I assume to be a huge editing and modification process from what he actually said. It felt very easy to engage with the story.
-His beginnings, the depiction of his childhood in Sicily, his family, his experiences at school, his deep stubborness and where it comes from. Greatly portrayed.
-Being more or less the same age, I especially enjoyed the narration of the cycling races he watches when young, as it felt a bit like my story too. That moment when he wants to go back to the road where Il Pirata himself had raced through depicts so many years of my life :)
-The story of his ambitions, trainings, commitment, of his growth as a cyclist. Oh, and did I cry with the narration of every single victory.
What an enjoyable ride together through these pages, squalo.

Too impersonal at times. Clearly embellished by the author, I very much doubt using Nibali's own words. More like a factual storytelling from a third person. I read other biographies and they all felt more personal, like coming truly from the cyclist and not from the author.

Still Nibali story is engaging, and it truly makes you understand how pro cyclists are shaped since an early age, and what challenges they face in both their personal and professional lives - even before coming under the attention of us (spectators) during the world famous gran tours.
