This massive doorstop of a coffee table book was pure catnip to me, an unabashed fan of the movie. I reveled in the detailed memories of how the 9th QT film came together and loved the marvelous set photos by Andrew Cooper. Yes, at 600-plus pages, there is way too much gushing over Tarantino's filmmaking genius, which Glennie could have gently excised a bit, but it is easily balanced by reams of insider insights from the film's top-line stars to more anonymous members of the production team and crew. Glennie really gives you a sense of the work it takes to make a movie, and what a miracle and joy it is when the film comes out great. Most importantly, the book and photos make clear that QT left a ton of material on the cutting-room floor and, while his novelization was fine, the petitioning must begin now for a longer version of the film or an episodic expansion like he did for Netflix with The Hateful Eight. We want more!
This is more of a 'dip into and read a bit at a time' book - and besides - it's over 7 pounds and hard to hold! However, if you love this movie, you really need to splurge!!
