Mae and Hank are RV shopping at an RV Show when it turns out that the manager of one of the RV dealers, Eric, knows Hank from high school. Eric seems to have some leftover resentment towards Hank. Hank blows him off, and he and Mae go to another dealer's set-up. The next day, Dottie and Mae decide to go to Eric's dealership to give the RVs another look. When they arrive, they find Eric dead in what appears to be an accident while parking an RV, but Hank quickly becomes a suspect if this was not an accident. Mae has to help clear his name with the help of Dottie and the rest of the Laundry Club Ladies.

I love heading back to Normal, Ky, where you know you are always in for a little bit of excitement. I love Mae, her family, and her friends; reading about them feels like reading about old friends. Mae and Dottie are two of my favorites, and their loyalty to one another is evident in this book. In one scene, these two remind me of Lucy and Ethel of I Love Lucy. The mystery is well-plotted with plenty of twists and turns and well-placed red herrings to keep you guessing whether Eric was murdered and who would want him dead.

Camper and criminals is my favorite cozy mystery series. I love every trip to Normal, Kentucky. Usually Mae’s husband, Hank, is leading murder investigations but when he finds himself the prime suspect he needs Mae and the laundry club gals to do what they do best and get to the bottom of the crime and clear his name.

In this story involving RV dealers, Hank is a suspect as an assistant manager who had argued with Hank was murdered. It was up to Mae and her family along with the Laundry Club Ladies to help solve the murder and get Hank out of the hot seat.

I really enjoyed learning more about how RV dealers work. It was also interesting learning more about a big truck used for hauling RV’s. The plot held my interest from beginning to end. I started suspecting the killer but wasn’t sure until the reveal, as I couldn’t figure out the motive.

In this story Betts and Dottie play major roles along with Bobby Rae and Mae’s adoptive mother. It was wonderful seeing all the support for Hank and Mae.

I was fortunate to receive an advanced copy of this enjoyable read. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Mae and her beloved husband, Hank, attended an RV show, where she fell in love with the marble countertops and cabinetry in a new fifth wheel. The salesman, Eric, stopped to speak with them. When he recognized Hank, however, he was rude, hateful, and clearly didn’t want their business. He had envied Hank since their high school days, and his ego still felt the jealousy tamped down in the years since. His associate, Jared, followed them when they left the Forest Ridge RV Center display, and apologized for Eric’s attitude.

Mae and Hank went to the next display. Cedar Hollow Campers had something so charming, so perfect for Happy Trails, that Mae had to stop. Cal, the salesman, wanted to deal with them, and she could get exactly what she wanted – for Happy Trails, not for herself. She would return tomorrow with bank financing to sign the deal.

The next morning, Hank went to the Forest Ridge dealership where Eric worked, wanting to look at the fifth wheel Mae was interested in for themselves. Eric picked up the fight from the night before. Hank even pushed him before he left. Dottie wanted to see what the competition had, and prices for comparable specialty units before signing Cal’s paperwork. They spoke with Tiffany, the finance manager, who tried to help them find Eric. He had helped move units back from the show to the dealership. Tiffany found Eric, and it brought her to her knees, screaming. Eric was dead, crushed under a portion of a fifth wheel. In a matter of hours, it was determined that Eric had been murdered, and how that conclusion was reached.

Tiffany had wailed to Sheriff Al Hemmer that it was “his” fault – and her description of Hank and his truck left no doubt in Mae’s mind who had been there. After the row with him the night before, they had another shouting argument with Eric today? When Hank returned to the RV center, Tiffany called him out. And Mae was looking at Cal’s paperwork when she received the call that Hank had been arrested for Eric’s murder.

The Laundry Club Ladies are ready to snoop! This time, it was one of their own, and they knew Hank could not have killed anyone. Mae’s foster brother, Bobby Ray, the top mechanic in the area, took a look at the situation and stated, based on certain criteria, that Hank had nothing to do with Eric’s murder. He was not yet innocent, but the sheriff believed the evidence.

Armed with Bobby Ray’s findings and at least two suspects, Mae and the ladies were determined to find whodunit. Mary Elizabeth, who had raised both Mae and Bobby Rae, was very protective of her family. The best Southern mama in these parts adores her son-in-law, and offered assurance in silent gestures. “This man belonged to our family. And she would not let anyone be quietly taken apart.”

I had a strong feeling who the bad guy was, from just a couple behaviors, but it took someone smarter than me – the author! – to discover the motive. All loose ends were addressed, and the ending brought satisfaction. I can’t wait until next time to see how Mae set up and revealed her special purchase! I highly recommend this cozy Southern mystery and any other book in the series; they can all be read as standalones if the reader desires to do so.

Mae and her husband Hank go to a RV show looking for possible new additions to Mae's Happy Trails campgrounds. She's really interested in some vintage campers that would be perfect for placing around the lake. The first dealer they speak to is Eric who Hank knows from high school. They had a turbulent past mainly due to Eric's jealousy of Hank. They decide to move on to another dealer. Even though he offers good term they will put off the decision.
The next day, Hank goes to visit Eric who is moving RVs back after the show. Other staff member hear them fighting. Dottie and Mae go to the other dealership where Cal, the owner promises them a good discount. When they call he tells them to wait awhile as he gets things in order. So, in the meantime they go to Eric's dealership to see what he will offer.
When they arrive, Eric is found crushed between a RV and an equipment to put it back in place. Since Hank was seen and heard having a loud argument not long before, he becomes the prime suspect right away. Mae knows Hank may have been angry, but he would never kill anyone. Now it's up to her, Dottie and the other Laundry Club Ladies to prove his innocence and find the killer since the sheriff is convinced Hank is the murderer.
It's amazing that DANDELIONS, DECEPTION & DETOURS is the 43rd in Tonya Kappes' very popular Campers & Criminals cozy mystery series. The good thing is each book stands on its own, so if you are still behind like I am that's not a problem. The small town atmosphere keeps me coming back for more adventures. Dottie surely is different from your typical sidekick. She keeps everything moving along and has you smiling.
I was excited to learn that this book series will become a Hallmark TV series. With the right cast it will be a must watch for me and all of Tonya's legions of fans.

When I need a respite from "real" life, I know a good place to go, at least in my mind. Normal, Kentucky and the Happy Trails Campground are the fictional places in the Camper and Criminals Cozy Mystery series, and one of my favorite fictional places to visit. I love this town, and the quirky characters who make up the cast for this book and this series.

Mae and the Laundry Club Ladies are always ready to lend a hand in helping to solve a murder, even when their help is not requested. The murder in this story hits a little too close to home when Mae's husband, Hank, is a suspect. So, this means it is all hands on deck. Do not underestimate these ladies. Some of them may be a little quirky, and quite funny, but their minds are like steel traps. They do not miss much. Suffice it to say if I needed someone to help me out in a pinch, I would have no problem asking for their help.

This author writes a good cozy mystery with a little meat to it, a lot of pizazz and plenty of red herrings. I enjoy the challenge of trying to solve the mystery as the suspects line up. They all seem so guilty.

I closed this book with a smile on my face. It was a smile of satisfaction after reading another great mystery in this series. I also enjoy the laughs that are interspersed throughout the story with characters I have grown to adore. I really want to escape to Happy Trails Campground and join the crew around a campfire.

This is book 43 in this series, and it seems every book just gets a little better. There is nothing stale in this book or this series.

Allll love for Mae and her handsome hubby Hank, now happily married and living in their charming camper on Mae’s campground. Trouble comes in a big way when the happy couple go to the RV show, looking for new vintage style campers to freshen the campground aesthetic and Hank runs into Eric from his high school past.

Would think days gone that far by would stay there, but nope, Eric apparently has past resentments more deep and wide than the Mississippi where Hank is concerned. When Hank goes to Eric’s RV showroom to ask about purchasing a camper Mae liked, Eric brings up all the resentments and attempts to start a fight, but Hank steps back, and walks away, southern gentleman style. Later that morning, Eric is dead and Hank is the no 1 suspect and no one in Normal, Kentucky believes it is Hank. Other than sheriff Allooking for an open and shut case, but clearly the sheriff is in for a whopping surprise named Mae, she and the Laundry club gals WILL find the killer.

Mae and the adorable Laundry club ladies quickly snap together to calm Mae and form support, snacks and the ever necessary plan to find the killer - and as always, this series is a wild fast action fast moving roller coaster ride of suspense, chaos and mayhem and pure fun, so adrenaline junkies, strap in and mystery lovers, you will have a thrill and spill ride - and when the killer is revealed, it is a surprise and an absolutely worthwhile read

I can't believe this is the 43rd book in this incredible series and what a wonderful addition it is! Mae and Hank go to an RV show to see what's available to maybe add to the campground. While they are looking in a fifth wheel, the salesman comes in. Much to Hank's surprise, it is his nemesis, Eric, from high school. Still acerbic, rude and mouthy, Hank and Eric get into an argument and at Mae's insistence, they walk away only to find Cal, another dealer of vintage RVs. Mae fell in love with them and had a great idea to put in a special area for tourists with the vintage RVs. But when Hank went back to Eric's RV area to check on the RV Mae liked, he got into it again with Eric. The next thing you know, Eric is dead and Hank is arrested. Well, Mae, Dotty and the rest of the Laundry Group Ladies, along with Mae's half brother, Ray won't let one of the family go down for a murder they didn't commit. And Hank is family! So the gang dive into the investigation finding clues and potential suspects to prove Hank's innocence. But can they put it all together? With so many twists and turns, you are taken guessing to the end. I not only highly recommend this book but I highly recommend the entire series and I can't wait for more! Dandelions, Deception, & Detours is the 43rd book in the Camper & Criminals series. While this may be the 43rd story, the author does a spectacular job keeping each story fresh and imaginative.

Spring is here and that means RV shows. Competing dealerships are showcasing the newest RVs, features, and hot pricing. Mae and Hank are perusing the RVs on display when Hank comes face-to-face with a former classmate. One who clearly has issues. He's found dead at the dealership the next day and it seems like a tragic fifth-wheel accident. When the death is ruled a homicide, Hank is first on the suspect list.

We all know Hank didn't do it so that's not a spoiler. Mae and the Laundry Club Ladies put their heads together to clear Hank's name and get him removed from the suspect list. The author developed several suspects besides Hank, and they all had means, motive, and opportunity. The book was full of twists, turns, red herrings, and shifts in direction. I was kept guessing until the very end.

As with the rest of the books in the series, the mystery isn't the only thing going on in the book. Tonya Kappes did a terrific job weaving the main storyline and other ones together. The characters are wonderfully crafted, realistically written, and I feel like I'm coming home to Normal with every book in the series.

Dandelions, Deception, & Detours is the 43rd book in the Camper and Criminals Mystery Series by Tonya Kappes. The amateur sleuth is Mae West, the owner of the Happy Trails Campground in the Daniel Boone National Forest.

In this installment, Mae and her husband, Hank, are shopping for an RV and get mixed up in a mystery involving the death of the RV manager.

Dandelions, Deception, & Detours was a lovely read. The world of Normal Kentucky (and the people in it) is as familiar as a favorite vacation spot. You know what to expect, and you always have a good time.

I enjoyed the extra personal spin on this one (Mae's husband, Hank, is the prime suspect). And the setting (an RV dealership) was unique and interesting. As usual, the lovable Laundy Club Ladies get in on the case and provide plenty of comic relief.

The mystery includes a few good suspects, some fab red herrings, and fun clues which readers can follow right up to the big reveal near the end of the story. The descriptions put you right into the setting and make you feel like you are sleuthing with Mae and the gang.

Tonya Kappes has quite a few good cozy mystery series, but this one is one of my favorites. I'll keep reading them as long as she keeps writing them.

Dandelions, Deception, & Detours is another entertaining installment in Kappes' Campers and criminals cozy mystery series. Mae and Hank are busy looking at campers at a RV show. Mae has an inspired idea to add a vintage camper section to her Happy Trails Campground. When Hank runs into an old school classmate at the show, the day takes a turn for the worse. Things definitely don't go as planned when Hank finds himself a murder suspect. Mae and the Laundry Club ladies need to solve this one and fast.

Kappes delivers an entertaining read that captures the reader's attention from the beginning and doesn't let go. The book's mystery is well done and gives Mae a challenging case that hits close to home. I loved seeing all of my favorite secondary characters back as well. Overall Dandelions, Deception, & Detours proved to be a great read that I would most definitely recommend. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

This was such a fun, cozy mystery with tons of small-town charm! Set in the Daniel Boone National Forest, the story pulls you right into campground life—campfires, gossip, and a murder that turns everything upside down. 🔥😳

When Mae West’s husband becomes the prime suspect, I loved how fiercely loyal and determined Mae is. She’s not your typical sleuth—she’s juggling campground life while digging into secrets, and it makes her so easy to root for. And the Laundry Club Ladies? Absolute highlight! 👏🧺 They add humor, heart, and that perfect “nosy but helpful” energy that makes cozy mysteries so enjoyable.

What I really liked: the mix of mystery and community. The campground setting felt unique and refreshing, and the small-town dynamics made the story feel warm even with a murder at the center. Plus, the twists kept me guessing just enough while still giving that satisfying cozy mystery payoff. 🕵️‍♀️✨

If you love tight-knit communities, strong female leads, and a mystery wrapped in Southern charm, this is such an enjoyable, feel-good whodunit! 💛📖

Mae’s always up for a little snooping, but this time it’s personal. She and Hank are browsing campers when a guy from Hank’s high school, Eric, tries to sell them one. Eric has always despised Hank, convinced he’s had everything handed to him. After a few sharp words, Hank walks away. Mae spots some vintage campers she thinks would be perfect for the campground, but while she’s checking them out, Eric starts bad-mouthing the salesman they’re talking to. The next day, Mae and Dottie head over to see Eric about some vintage campers before she commits to the other seller. When they arrive, Eric is dead—and Mae catches sight of Hank leaving the dealership. She knows Hank would never kill anyone, no matter how irritating they might be. But now Hank’s the prime suspect, and Mae is on the case. In a town where everyone knows Hank’s no killer, help is pouring in. The question is—can they solve it?

We're back in Normal, Kentucky, where our favorite couple, Mae and Hank,  are “window shopping” at the local RV show.  While touring a unit Mae has fallen in love with, they discover the salesman, Eric, is an antagonist from Hank's high school days, and the two engage in a heated exchange. But Mae is so taken with the RV that she and Dottie venture to the dealership the following day for another look. There, they discover Eric dead in what appears to be a horrible accident. When it turns out to be murder, Hank is the number one suspect as he was seen on the lot that morning.  Of course, Hank is innocent, so Mae and the Laundry Club Ladies must find the real culprit.


Another well-written mystery from this cozy mystery master! The plot is well developed, suspects varied, and the Ladies are up to their usual tricks. We are also privy to a deeper insight into the relationship between Mae and Hank, and how important trust and loyalty are. You won't want to put this one down.

Dandelions, Deception and Detours delivers another lively, engaging mystery with Mae and Dottie leading the charge. Mae once again stumbles onto a dead body—this time someone connected to Hank’s past—and things aren’t looking great for our favorite Ranger or Mae’s sweet husband. While looking for some cute new retro RVs for the Park, Mae and Hank cross paths with someone from his past who knows exactly how to push his buttons. It never ceases to amaze me how Mae has a knack for uncovering what truly matters in every case, even if it means getting herself into hot water along the way. Soon Mae and Dottie are digging into whether an RV award is tied to the murder or if something entirely different is at play. It’s another delightful, fast-paced read filled with charm, humor, and the irresistible duo of Mae and Dottie.

This is book number forty-three in the Camper & Criminals cozy mystery series by Tonya Kappes. I enjoy visiting Normal, Kentucky. It provides me a respite from the world which has become nasty in the news.

Mae & Hank are at an RV show with multiple vendors. May likes a fifth wheel and its features, the sale manager shows up and is extremely rude to Hank. The sales manager hasn’t gone past high school on the emotional level.

The next day, there is a body the sales manager show area. Hank becomes the number one suspect. You know the Laundry Ladies will sort this out.

I enjoyed every misdirection, twist and turn throughout the mystery. I also like the sense of community and family among their friends. No stone unturned to find the truth.

By the end, I was ready to buy a camper and head straight to Normal, Kentucky!

Dandelions, Deception & Detours is part of the A Camper & Criminals Cozy Mystery series. Mae is in the market for a few new campers for the campground, but when visiting one of the sites she finds one of the salespeople dead. In order to keep her husband, Hank, from being the main suspect Mae must get to the bottom of this case before it’s too late.

This was another good mystery in an amazing series. I think this is the longest running mystery series I’ve read and it never gets old! The mysteries just keep getting better. I love Mae and the cast of characters in this series and am always glad to visit them and Normal again. I was pulled in from the first chapter and enjoyed the twists and turns along the way. I love this series and can’t wait to read more!

Without providing a book report and retelling the story, here’s what you need to know! Fun murder mystery featuring Mae and the Laundry Ladies, who work hard to help prove Hank (Mae’s husband) didn’t murder an old high school friend after a pretty public confrontation. Plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing, laugh-out-loud moments, which you’ve come to expect from this fabulous author, and an ending that is satisfying, but not predictable! You can jump right in even if you haven’t read the others because the backstory is explained well enough that if you start here, you won’t be lost, but if you haven’t read the others, you’ll want to go back and do that. I recommend this book, and I’m looking forward to the next in the series.

Mae and Hank go to an RV show to look at the RVs. The first location Forest Ridge had a camper Mae liked, but the seller, Eric, was a total jerk, rude, and unprofessional. They move to the next location, Ceder Hollow Campers, where Mae finds some perfect additions for Happy Trails. They strike a deal, and she promises to come back the next day to finish the paperwork. The next day, Hank goes to Forest Ridge to look at the RV Mae liked. Eric continues the fight from the day before. Later that day Eric is found crushed by a fifth wheel and Hank is the main suspect. Mae and the Laundry Club Ladies dig into the mystery to find the true killer and clear Hank. Another engaging fun mystery.

Mae had the cutest idea for a Retro Row at Happy Trails and was RV shopping with Hank at a show when he got into it verbally with an old high school nemesis. After said nemesis was taken out by that same fifth wheel Mae admired the day before, her beloved Hank was being questioned as a suspect, and Mae just wasn’t havin’ it!

She and Dottie are always hilarious when they sleuth especially with Dottie’s running commentary. The Laundry Club was back in action and even Betts got in on the showdown with a killer. Luckily and thanks to Mae's observation skills, she knew reinforcements were just a shout away. I’d actually guessed the perp but it was so satisfying to see them taken into custody and off the streets. It’ll be interesting to see how Retro Row shakes out in future books.

Mae and Hank are checking our vintage campers at an RV show when Hank is confronted by Eric Logan, someone from his high school days. They walk away rather than deal with Eric, who later turns up dead. Since Hank has become the top suspect in what has been determined to be a murder rather than an accident, Mae and the Laundry Club Ladies start looking at clues to solve the crime and clear Hank’s name. Bobby Ray even helps out this time and Mae and Betts get themselves into some serious trouble along the way.

This was such a fun book and the series is awesome!

Mae and Hank go looking for some vintage RV’s at an RV show for the Campgrounds. At the RV show Hank gets confronted by someone from his high school days, Eric Logan.
When Mae goes to the RV dealership she stumbles upon the dead body of Eric Logan. This isn’t going to look good for Hank.
With Hank now the prime suspect which has been called a murder not an accident, Mae is not waiting for the police to get answers. Mae and the Laundry Club Ladies get right into the thick of things with the help of Bobby Ray.
A fun cozy mystery. Small town charm, friendships, quirky characters and plenty of laughter as you read.

When Mae and Dottie go to the RV dealership to see what kind of deal they can get, they find the body of the manager crushed to death beneath a fifth-wheel trailer. The coroner calls it a homicide and Hank is quickly named as the prime suspect! Mae West and the Laundry Club Ladies step up to the plate to clear Hank's name! As always, Mae and her quirky group of friends provide a delightful mystery with plenty of laughs! When I get started reading a book from this series, I can't stop reading until I've finished the book!

This is the 43rd book in this series; I’ve read and loved all of the previous books, but surprisingly, this book would stand alone well. I love the main character, Mae, and her relationship with her husband is steadfast as he’s implicated in a murder. She and her friends investigate any local crimes, and they’re very good at it, but this is personal. The writing improves with each book, and it’s hard to believe each mystery can be so original, but the author manages to make each book fresh and intriguing. I can definitely recommend this book and series; I was provided an ARC, which I appreciate, but these opinions are my own.

This series just keeps getting better and better. An RV salesperson and former classmate of Hank's, Mae West's deputy husband, is found crushed under a fifth wheel camper. Hank was the last person seen at the victim's place of business. He is accused of the crime. Did he do it? Is former high school jealousy to blame?

The clues led many different directions. when the case seems to be solved the clues led in another direction. What a spell binding, edge of the seat read!

Mae and Hank visit an RV show, where they unexpectedly run into Eric—Hank’s unpleasant high‑school rival. After a tense exchange, Mae becomes interested in vintage RVs from another dealer, but when she and Dottie later stop by Eric’s lot for a second look, they find him dead. What first appears to be an accident quickly turns into suspicion aimed at Hank. Mae, Dottie, and the Laundry Club Ladies jump into action to clear his name, uncovering twists, red herrings, and a lineup of possible suspects. Returning to Normal, Kentucky feels like catching up with old friends, and Mae and Dottie’s loyalty and humor shine throughout this well‑plotted cozy mystery.

I just love Happy Trails! You can always count on a great mystery, great characters and a ton of Southern charm. Murder is back in Happy Trails Campground in Normal, Kentucky. When the manager of a RV dealership is crushed to death under a fifth wheel trailer everyone is sad at such an accident but the coroner ruled it a murder. Mae and the Laundry Club ladies have to jump into solving this murder to clear Hank's name. Everyone is working hard to figure out what is going on. The twist in who the murderer was surprised me as usual. I love these books. Definitely need to read these books. Love Tonya Kappes.

RV SHOW

Hank and Mae go to the RV Show, Mae gets the idea to add three retro campers to a new area and looks a a new fifth wheeler with a new pantry. Mae wants to look at Eric's RV again before buying from Cal. They past Hank leaving the area just before they get to Eric's place. They find a what looks like a horrible accident, Tiffany becomes very upset when they find Eric pinned the truck and fifth wheeler. They call the police AM asks Mae for help. Al thinks Hank maybe guilty. The Laundry Ladies meet to put the clues together with the help from Bobby Ray the girls and police solve the murder. Good story, characters and information.
