While doing reinventions in the Bean Hive, Patrick uncovers a body that has been missing for decades. When this cold case is linked to a new murder, Roxy can't help but get involved in solving the murder. Roxy is good at uncovering information that the sheriff can't, even if it means putting herself in harm's way.

I love the setting of the coffee shop, and all the fur babies, as well as the cast of characters. Roxy is a smart, strong female who sometimes acts before thinking. The secondary characters, like Roxy's aunt, are lovable and quirky. The mystery is well-written and moves at a quick pace. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing who the killer is.

All thoughts and opinions are my own and have not been influenced by anyone.

This takes place in January. It involves a scam, a missing person since 1978, a revitalization project, and a murder or two. The mystery was interesting. I had figured out who the killer was, but I wasn't sure about the reason. I thought it might have gone in a different direction. I liked the dog adoption in this one too. It was a lighthearted moment in the story.

This cozy mystery was de differently from the other book in the Bean Hive Killer Coffee Mystery series. Her husband Patrick is helping Roxy Bloom renovate her coffee shop to add a frappe bar. When a wall is removed to make this happen, the dead body of a famous local musician who died in 1978 is found.

While the closed case is reopened, someone else looking for clues is murdered to hide a long buried secret. Roxy is trying to figure out how the killings are related and puts herself in danger again.

In this story we have a good idea who the current killer is much earlier than normal. Finding the proof is the challenge.

The regular characters in this story are well developed and I enjoy reading about them. I especially enjoy meeting the new pet from Pet Palace that is incorporated into each book.

It was exciting to be back at the Bean Hive, in Honey Springs, Kentucky! Roxy, the owner, customizes delicious coffee blends throughout the year. She also experiments with and bakes delightfully scrumptious pastries for each special occasion, all with one special, secret ingredient.

Honey Springs is a beautiful little town. Every season has its own incredible sights, scents, and sounds. The rich descriptions, for me, are part of the appeal of the author’s Southern cozy mysteries. Even more so is how the characters come to life through her amazing imagination. I wouldn’t be surprised if Great Aunt Maxi and her spiked, brilliantly colored hair would pop up in any coffee shop in the country and tell the baristas why Roxy’s coffee blends are the best anywhere.

It is January, tourists have departed, and Roxy’s husband, Patrick, and his construction crew begin a minor remodel at the Bean Hive for a new frappe station. Even in winter, customers are eagerly awaiting the new cold beverage.

The remodel included cutting into the storage area. On that busy morning, a man named Tate talked with Roxy about adding a post to their community board. He sought a vinyl of Wesley Dane’s final record. Wesley had been a local jazz musician who played the trumpet with the River Runners. The last place Wesley had been seen was at the Boardwalk Café, now the Bean Hive. The former owner of the café and building, Earl, owned a construction company, E. Liles & Son. His son, Gordon, inherited everything when Earl passed. Gordon and the mayor were planning the special Revive Project for the boardwalk that would be their legacy. Coincidentally? A woman who had been working on her laptop for a while, Delaney, asked to talk with the owner. Tate and Delaney were working together on a project for the Kentucky Heritage Review. Tate was the archivist and Delaney did the research and writing. Both knew this was the last place Wesley had been seen. Rumors had been that Wesley took the full pay for the band from Earl and skipped town with it.

And they found him. That day. Behind the wall, Patrick and his crew discovered an old industrial freezer. Inside, they found the remains of someone who had been there a long time. A newspaper, dated May 3, 1978, was with him, as well as a trumpet mouthpiece with the initials WD scratched in. Spencer, the sheriff, wouldn’t release an identity until the medical examiner did his testing. Yes, it was Wesley Dane. Yes, he had been murdered. He had been in there longer than Roxy had been alive!

As always, the sheriff told Roxy to please let the professionals handle the case. Being naturally curious, Roxy couldn’t help herself but to seek justice again. Delaney wanted to see what was going on, but wasn’t allowed to, as even Roxy and Maxi couldn’t open the shop again until Spencer released it. Roxy had helped solve many cases in the past. This time, she found and asked questions of the very few people who were alive and had memories of Wesley.

Someone reviewing Earl’s many records and accounts discovered several inequities When that person was found murdered, the stakes rose. There is a killer on the loose in Honey Springs, and for the first time that I recall, Roxy is shaken. Come, examine the clues with us! I highly recommend this Southern cozy mystery and its series!

Many thanks to the publisher, Tonya Kappes Books, who provided a pre-publication copy of this novel. This is my honest review.

Review:

The characters are well rounded and well developed. When a renovation uncovers an industrial freezer that has a body in it, Rozy and her friends will have to figure out who the murderer is and why. It will not be easy but Roxy will be up to the task.

The writing style flows and the book is an easy read. The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and these descriptions pulled me into the story from the very beginning. The mystery was well plotted and it was difficult to solve.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy mystery. You cannot go wrong reading the author’s books.

I’m so happy to share a review of Frosted Frappe Felony, book 19 in the Killer Coffee cozy mystery series by Tonya Kappes, available now! This series and latest entry is perfect for readers who love a community-centered amateur sleuth, coffee shop mysteries, and mysteries that unfold with clever clues and cozy charm.

It’s a snowy and bitterly cold weekend here in St. Louis, and I was absolutely delighted to escape to the small town of Honey Springs. I finished this in a day, curled under a warm blanket. Roxy Bloom’s Bean Hive Coffee Shop is the heart of the town and the cozy and delicious descriptions made me feel as if I were right there, snug in her shop.

However, it’s not long into the story when renovations to Roxy’s shop uncover a long-forgotten industrial freezer hidden in the walls. And it’s not just the freezer that surprises everyone, but what’s hidden inside reveals a long ago, unsolved mystery.

Roxy, being the perfect amateur sleuth (think Nancy Drew as an adult), can’t overlook this mystery that has been buried in her shop for years. Despite warnings and some nail biting danger, Roxy plunges in to uncover old secrets and murder.

Readers can’t go wrong with anything written by Tonya, and this latest entry to one of my favorites of her series does not disappoint. New to the series? Jump in now or go back to the start, either way creates an enjoyable reading experience.

While lots of clues point to the truth throughout the story, I found myself quickly clicking through my kindle to see just how it would all come to light, and if Roxy would be safe!

This is a fast paced, delightfully cozy mystery. Grab it now!

A case doesn't get much colder than the one in this book. Roxy seems to have a knack for always being right in the middle of any type of murder, usually finding the bodies. This one hits a little too close to home for her. Even though the sheriff cautions her to keep her nose out of it, we know that he may as well be preaching to the choir because she cannot help herself. She is also quite good at investigating, so there is that, whether he wants to admit it or not.

The mystery, as is always the case in the Killer Coffee series, is well-written and thought provoking. Because this case was so old, it was a little more challenging, but Roxy and company are up for the task. I enjoy reading alongside them while I try to solve the mystery myself.

I always enjoy a visit to Honey Springs and the Bean Hive Coffee Shop. The descriptions of the drinks and baked goods are enough to make my mouth water. The cozy cafe setting, where you can sip coffee by the fire and talk with friends, is enough to make me want to jump into the book and join them. Then you add the cast of characters that are lovable, quirky, and, at times, quite funny. I know I can always count on this author to give me a good laugh while also penning a good mystery. Finally, the adorable dogs, especially Pepper, provide even more light entertainment. Put all of this together, and it is the perfect cozy read from the cozy queen herself.

Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

One of my fav series is Killer Coffee and excited for book 19.

Roxy has decided to expand her offerings in her Bean Hive coffee shop and add anew high tech frappe machine, which requires renovations. Luckily her husband Patrick’s company can easily handle this addition to her carefully curated shop and do this job, but Roxy and the rest of the Honey Springs community are stunned when a decades hidden industrial freezer is uncovered with a dead body inside. Local famed musician Wesley Danes, jazz great, missing for decades has been found at last and he was murdered.

Roxy, also a lawyer, goes once more on the hunt to find out who murdered Wesley reviving a the cold case and uncovers some ugly history and clearly, a local murderer. It must be a local, since the villain kills again - another local finds clues as to who might have been the killer. As Roxy races to solve the puzzle before anyone else is harmed, she becomes the target and uncovering the killer is explosive and dangerous for her with a shocking end. This is definitely one action packed thrilled ride. Book 19 ramps up the action, while somehow maintaining the closeness and warmth of the hometown characters and the charm that has drawn me in, book after book, series after series (like Campers and Criminals, adored every book in the so far 43 book series and waiting patiently for no 44!!)!) so Killer Coffee series did not disappoint and was an adrenaline junkie action dream - so unexpectedly full of action, what a movie this would be and an absolutely worthwhile read

Frosted Frappe Felony is a cozy mystery that pairs small-town charm with a chilling secret buried—quite literally—in the past. Set in the snow-blanketed town of Honey Springs, the story centers on the Bean Hive Coffee Shop, a warm, familiar gathering place that becomes the unlikely epicenter of a decades-old crime when a renovation reveals a hidden industrial freezer. From that moment on, the novel deftly balances comfort and unease, proving that even the coziest corners can hide dangerous truths.

Roxy Bloom is a particularly appealing amateur sleuth: observant, grounded, and deeply woven into her community. Her calm competence and natural curiosity make her investigation feel organic rather than forced. As snow piles up and rumors begin to thaw, the town itself becomes a character—full of long memories, quiet loyalties, and secrets people would rather keep buried. The pacing is deliberate in the best way, allowing clues to surface gradually while maintaining steady suspense, especially as the stakes rise with yet another death.

What truly sets Frosted Frappe Felony apart is its strong sense of community. The coffee shop camaraderie, realistic relationships, and familiar rhythms of small-town life give the story warmth and credibility, making the darker elements more impactful by contrast. Cozy mystery fans who enjoy winter settings, clever clue-building, and a personable sleuth will find this a satisfying, atmospheric read—perfect to enjoy with a hot drink while the snow falls outside.

I can't believe we are up to the 19th book in this fantastic series! Once again, Tonya has given us a really fast paced, twisted, mystery you just can't put down. Roxy, owner of the Bean Hive Coffee Shop has wanted to have a frappe space added to the shop and since it is winter and the tourists are few, she felt it was a good time to do it. So her husband, Patrick, and his crew separated the shop from the back construction area. But when Patrick and his crew break through a back wall, they find an old freezer that was sealed in the wall. And when it was opened, the body of a missing jazz trumpet player, Wesley Dane, was in there. Funny though, just before a reporter, Delaney, was asking about the deceased. It was believed that Wesley ran off with the band's money after having played. So, Roxy, her smart pup, Pepper, flamboyant Great Aunt Maxi and crew are all in on this mystery. But when there is another murder that is apparently attached to the cold case of Wesley Dane? With a list of suspects, Roxy has her hands full especially when she gets threats to stay out of it. This is a page turner that keeps you guessing until the end. I highly recommend not only this book but the entire series! I received an ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

Frosted Frappe Felony is the 19th book in the Killer Coffee Mysteries by Tonya Kappes. The amateur sleuth is Roxy Bloom, a smart, sassy lawyer-turned-barista who owns a cute, cozy coffee shop called the Bean Hive in Honey Springs, Kentucky.

In this installment, a cold case turns the Bean Hive into a chilling crime scene. To get her coffee shop back up and running, Roxy throws herself into the mystery and tries to solve the case.

Frosted Frappe Felony is a quintessential cozy with a great cast of characters and a super cute setting. The heartwarming coffee shop camaraderie and community are a cozy treat! I love the gentle humor and the small-town atmosphere. This series always feels like a welcome getaway!

The cold case and the old secrets that came with it made for a fun and unique mystery. I enjoyed sleuthing with Roxy, her cute pup Pepper, and the always entertaining Aunt Maxine.

The book ended with great recipes that were a perfect match for the title and the wintery setting.

If you're looking for a fun winter cozy mystery, you can't go wrong with Frosted Frappe Felony.

I received an advance reading copy of this cozy mystery. It did not influence my review.

Frosted Frappe Felony is the nineteenth book in the Killer Coffee series by Tonya Kappes. It is set in January during a lull in the tourist season. Patrick’s construction crew is doing a remodel in the Bean Hive, Roxy’s coffee & café shop. The crew cuts into a wall & finds a body in a freezer. The body is believed to be Wesley Dane. Wesley went missing many years ago. He was a local jazz player. Recently, someone stopped in the Bean Hive asking about Wesley Dane records.

Turns out Wesley went missing while the storefront property was owned by Earl Ives. Rumored to have absconded with the payment for the band.

The writing is quick paced and well plotted. I enjoyed every twist, turn , and misdirection. I like the relationship between the sheriff and Roxy, who is also the town lawyer. There are other projects I the work which add to the confusion.

Can’t wait for the next book in this series. The characters are unique and full of life. I am ready for another visit to Honey Springs.

I was given an advanced readers copy and these are my opinions.

Rumor has it that back in 1978, a musician ran off with the money paid to him to pay his band members. Present time, with construction underway at the Bean Hive Coffee Shop by Roxy’s husband, Patrick, and his crew, that rumor has been found to be false. Since the Bean Hive has been closed by law enforcement until further notice, Roxy, spends her time trying to solve the crime. The sooner, the better, so she can open her business again.

When another body turns up and Roxy is threatened, she’s more determined than ever to solve the crime. The suspect list is short, but proof is needed. Will it come in time to prevent another murder?

Tonya Kappes makes us feel at home in the community of Honey Springs, Kentucky. We’re treated to comforting descriptions of the small town, the boardwalk, local businesses, and residents that feel like our friends, too.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Another super fun mystery from one of the best cozy mystery writers I've read. Fun characters, engaging storyline, and recipes at the end, what more could you ask for? A construction project reveals a long-dead body in the wall of the coffee shop, and Roxie is once again on the job...encountering twists and turns and yes, another body while trying to get to the bottom of it all. With her coffee shop and reputation at stake, what does she have to lose by investigating, ummm, maybe her own life? Pick up this fab book now, the story will have you hooked! If you haven't read any of this series before, or any of Ms. Kappes' mysteries, you can congratulate yourself on finding your newest favorite author and series. One of the best things about all the books is that there are no cliff hangers, so you can pick up from anywhere and enjoy the stories. I am anxiously awaiting the next in the series.

It's winter in Honey Springs and a slow time at the Bean Hive. Roxy has decided to have Patrick open up a wall in the coffee shop so that she can install a frappe machine. When Patrick and his men start to open up the brick wall they find a freezer inside the wall. When they open it they see something on the floor of the freezer and it's a body. This person was believed to have left town years ago without a trace, a cold case that is now open again. Roxy wants to know what happened to the man, especially since he has been hidden in the wall of her coffee shop since before Aunt Maxie bought the building. Although Spencer warns Roxy to stay out of it, even he knows it will fall on deaf ears. The mysteries in this series are always thought provoking and keep me guessing.

I received a complimentary copy of this ebook from the author. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Frosted Frappe Felony is another entertaining read in Kappes' Killer Coffee Cozy Mystery series. I always look forward to new installments in this series. This latest adventure definitely doesn't disappoint. Roxy is excited to add frozen frappes to the menu at her coffeehouse. Her husband is doing the renovations when they discover a boarded up industrial freezer with a body inside. Instead of adding frozen drinks to the menu, Roxy needs to help solve a cold case.

Kappes does a great job at setting up an entertaining read that is perfect for this cold, wintery season. Roxy has a new challenge by trying to solve a cold case. I liked seeing her challenged by this new development. I also enjoyed seeing all of my favorite secondary characters back as well. Overall Frosted Frappe Felony proved to be a great read that I would most definitely recommend. I look forward to reading Roxy's next adventure.

When you undertake a renovation, you expect some noise and dust. What you don't expect is a decades old corpse in your wall. But that's exactly what Roxy Bloom gets when she looks to install a frappe counter at the Bean Hive Coffee shop. Seems a Honey Springs musician didn't run off with the band's money years ago like the stories say. And who could blame Roxy for sticking her nose into the investigation? It was her wall he was found in after all.

This was a delightful read. The recurring Honey Springs characters never disappoint.  While the culprit might be a tad bit predictable, you don't mind at all. It is a fast read with the path to apprehension intriguing and storyline brisk. If you're looking for a thoroughly entertaining cozy, this is the one. I was fortunate to receive an ARC from the author and am pleased to offer my opinion.

Frosted Frappe Felony is the nineteenth cozy mystery in the Killer Coffee Mysteries series. The Bean Hive Cafe is in the middle of renovations when the crew uncovers a long ago dead body hidden behind the wall. With a body turning up in her coffee shop, there is no way Roxy Bloom is going to stay out of this case. Determined to find the truth one way or another, Roxy will stop at nothing until the mystery is unraveled.

I have enjoyed this series since the beginning and am always up for a trip to Honey Springs. The characters in this series are a fun cast and I liked Roxy as the main sleuth. This mystery was quick to get through and enjoyable throughout. I was pulled in from the beginning and I didn’t want to put this book down. As always, this mystery had me hooked and I like how everything played out. This was another great mystery and I can’t wait for the next in the series.

Another great mystery in this series. Roxy is expanding her coffee house when workers discover a dead body, believed to be a man who vanished in 1978. Everyone thought he stole money and skipped town, but now Roxy is determined to find out who killed him. Her shop once was a diner, and though the former owner has passed away, his son will do anything to keep his father’s name clear. A reporter digging into events from the ’70s turns up dead, and as Roxy pieces the puzzle together, she keeps landing on the same name. The man was just a child back then—could he have been the killer then? Is he the killer now? With so much covered up at the time, Roxy may be the only one who can bring the truth to light.

“The noise, the people, the smells. The Bean Hive’s always felt like more than a coffee shop. It’s where things make sense again.”

“Coffee and community “

Roxy is having Patrick and his crew tear down a wall for a renovation in the Bean Hive. What she didn’t expect was for them to find the remains of a body. The body is a musician who has been missing since 1978.
Well, Roxy is not going to sit on the sidelines and wait for the Sheriff to get answers. She starts asking questions and digging for answers. Seems secrets are buried deep in Honey Springs. Unfortunately the more digging Roxy does she starts to put herself in danger.
Looking for some good gossip, the Bean Hive is the place
to grab your coffee and sit back and listen. You never know what is about to be revealed in the small town of Honey Springs.

Returning to Honey Springs and revisiting Roxy Bloom at the Bean Hive Coffee Shop is a cozy mystery reader delight.

Frosted Frappe Felony is the 19th book in the Killer Coffee Mystery series. When Roxy has her husband’s construction company do some work in her shop, she inadvertently revives a cold case. Some secrets are meant to stay buried, and someone in Honey Springs is taking that seriously.

Frosted Frappe Felony pulls you in and keeps you engaged. The mystery was well-written, full of twists and turns, and kept me on my toes. I found myself continually guessing who the murderer could be throughout the story.

I enjoyed all the characters. The world building had me feeling like I was right in the middle of Honey Springs. I was able to visualize the town, the activities, and the people.
