Carter I should be grateful I survived, but gratitude doesn’t stop the nightmares—or how broken I am inside. Nothing helps. No matter what I do, I can't stop reliving the worst day of my life. But I want my life back—the one I had before that day. I lost someone special to me, and I'll never get that back—I'll never feel happiness like that again. At least, that's what I think until I meet Sebastian. He's one person who doesn’t treat me like I’m a ticking time bomb—even though he's law enforcement and the last type of person I should trust. He's real and honest and everything I need—but I'm not sure I'm ready for what this all means. Falling for him feels reckless. Dangerous. Impossible. And yet, he might be the only thing keeping me from falling apart.
Carter is part of the Toxic Hearts Club shared world. Each book can be read as a standalone, but there are crossover characters. There are heavy themes in this book.
Great read by Penny Fox! Carter and Nash have both been through their share of trauma. And watching them help each other heal and move forward was beautiful and heartwarming. I loved their relationship. I loved the slow burn between them. The story is not without it's share of drama and heart-stopping moments. Overall a great MM second chance romance.
