“Dirty Frenemies” is the second book in the “Country Stars Forever Series.” It is an extra spicy novel featuring an overachieving smarty lab coat wearer and her brothers’ very annoying, and very talented with his tongue, best friend. Jesi never realised until her brother let it slip, that Charlie was not with anyone for a long period of time….the period they were seeing each other, secretly. “Our arrangement lasted years, and living in different parts of the country, our hookups were months and months apart. I never hooked up with anyone either, because I’m me. But he, well, he’s famous and he’s Charlie. Charming. Handsome. Intelligent. Great with kids. Can be a kid. Is a talented songwriter. Kick-ass bass player. Entertainer.”
When Jesi looses her latest job as a biochemist, she decides to join her brother Derek and the band on the road. Doing this, she knows that she will be in close quarters with Charlie, aka Carlos. She is supposed to despise him, but the physical attraction is not helping! How long will they both be able to deny what they both feel, what they both want? “I’ll tell you my type. Once I started reading, I could not put this book down! The storey will charm “the pants off you” and leave you going back for more. I thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful love story. This is a great book that will make you laugh - you will be hooked! It has fun, laughs, intrigue, twists that you do not expect, physical attraction and passion. Another winner by Arianna Quinn!
This is the second book in the Muddy Boots series, about a three-piece country band and their quests to find love. I ADORED the first one, and this one was just as good. You've got a second chance, brother's bandmate/best friend, forbidden love, sneaking around, so much angst and angry banter, before finally giving in! The spice in this was superb (I think better than the first book) and their sassy banter/dirty talk really set it apart from other books with similar themes/storylines.
The writing is well done and the entire story has a nice flow. The FMC is a scientist, and there were a few things thrown in to showcase her knowledge/skill, but not so much that I had to get to Google what she was talking about.
This series is inclusive, and includes a non-binary child (parents are the couple in the first book) and an M/M couple for some of the side characters. Spoiler (maybe) but I feel like the set-up for book three might be an M/M too...will have to wait and see what happens for Tyler!
Honestly, my only critique of the book was I would have liked to see a little more of the two kiddos (James and Victoria) from the first book, because they were just too precious!
If you like inclusive, contemporary romance with excellent spice, and you haven't read Arianna Quinn...you are missing out, dear reader!

I had the great opportunity to ARC ready this book for Arianna Quinn.
WOW!!! I couldn't get enough of this book. If I didn't have to sleep I would have finished it in 1 day.
I didn't read book 1 before this or the prequal, and honestly I don't feel like I was missing any context. Now that doesn't mean I won't read them. Because if book 1 is as good as this, I know I will love it.
Now Jesi and Charlie (Carlos), OMG. You could cut the tension between these with a knife. Jesi is bio-chemist who lost her job and decides to join her brother on tour with his band. She knew she would be running into Charlie. Charlie is the bassist in the band and also Jesi's brother's best friend.
When Charlie and Jesi decide to finally talk and not be enemies a moment happens between them. From that point, it's only a matter of time before they hook up and people and situations threaten it from continuing.
Both Jesi and Charlie are holding on to secrets from one another about different things. With all of this going on, will what they have going on survive it? This is a slow burn at the beginning, but once it heats up, there is NO going back!!!

What an awesome read. spicy steamy romance that hooks you from the first page. Jesi loses her job and decides to head out with her brothers band knowing full well Charlie (the bassist) is on board. I mean, he's part of the group. but they just seem to rub each other the wrong way. or do they? a story filled with enemies to lovers between these two, keeps the pages hot.
I appreciated the detail of Jesi's job without getting into so many technical terms that you just get lost. it was a perfect mix to detail her work without going overboard.
And I felt for Charlie. is he really the playboy joker that everyone thinks he is? I think he's a pretty great guy that not many people get to see.
the two of them together are fire, making this a really good read.
I didn't read the first book, so now I'm going to go back so I can get the full gist of these clearly awesome books.

This book had me hooked from page one! Jesi and Charlie’s chemistry is electric, the kind of slow burn that explodes once it finally sparks. Between secrets, tension, and off-the-charts heat, I couldn’t flip the pages fast enough. If you love angst, banter, and swoony romance, this is a must-read!
