She thought moving to a small town would keep her safe. She was wrong.
School nurse Delilah Morrison chose Millbrook, Wisconsin for its quiet streets and friendly faces—the perfect place to escape her dark past. Eight years ago, a stalker named Calvin Reeves turned her life into a nightmare, culminating in a terrifying home invasion that left her forever changed. His chilling words still haunt that she was his "sunshine," and their story wasn't over—no matter how far she ran or how much time passed.
Now she has a fresh start, a new job, and even a loving boyfriend in deputy sheriff Jake Brennan. But when anonymous flowers appear on her car and disturbing notes show up in her mailbox, Del's carefully constructed sense of security begins to crumble. Has Calvin finally tracked her down, ready to finish what he started years ago?
Someone is watching her every move, learning her routines, and getting closer with each passing day. The familiar nightmare is beginning again, but in a small town where everyone knows everyone, distinguishing between friendly neighbors and potential threats becomes a deadly game.
In this relentlessly twisty psychological thriller, past trauma collides with present danger as one woman discovers that some predators will wait years to claim their victim.
You Are My Sunshine will keep you guessing until the final, shocking page.
Delilah Morrison needed to get away and move to a place far from her dark past and her stalker Calvin Reese. She chose Millbrook, Wisconsin thinking that it was the perfect small, quiet town but she soon finds out that trouble just seems to find her wherever she goes. How did Calvin find her all the out here, she doesn’t know but when she sees his calling card, a message to his “sunshine” she knew it was him. Del doesn’t know what to think because there’s no way it could be Calvin so she starts accusing everyone that acts just a little bit suspicious and when those leads turn out to be nothing she feels like she’s going crazy. When the truth comes out, Delilah is shocked at how tangled this web is. This was a quick paced short psychological thriller that is easy to read and follow. The characters fit the story just right and the twists are executed well. I did have a feeling I knew who the culprit was early on but I still needed to read the story to find out if I was right. Overall I would say if you are looking for a quick read and like thrillers, this one would be perfect for a “finish in one sitting“ type of vibe.
