Are you doing more than ever...but accomplishing less?
We live in a world that never slows down. Notifications ping, tasks pile up, and our attention is pulled in a dozen directions. Many people are overwhelmed, chronically distracted, and spiritually depleted. We chase productivity while losing clarity. We stay busy but struggle to stay focused. And all too often, our walk with Christ fades into the background—sacrificed for the urgent, while the eternal waits quietly on the margins.
There is a better way.
In these pages, Dr. Paul Chappell explores through the lens of Scripture what blurs our spiritual focus, how to regain clarity, and how to live each day with joy, endurance, and purpose. Each chapter includes biblical truth, practical insights, and inspiring snapshots of focused Christians whose lives made an eternal difference.
Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed by distractions or simply longing to live with greater purpose, this book will help

Dr. Paul Chappell is the senior pastor of the Lancaster Baptist Church and president of West Coast Baptist College in Lancaster, California. His biblical vision has led the church to become one of the most dynamic independent Baptist churches in the nation. He has been married to his wife for over thirty-six years and is the father of four married children all serving in Christian ministry. His books can be found at http://www.strivingtogether.com.
Chappell has a very simple and easy reading style. He reminds me a lot of Clarence Sexton, though not as repetitive in his prose.
Focus is a book about taking your eyes off all the things that distract from "the mission" of following Christ. This is not a list of tips and tricks to getting more done. It's more of a basic theology of busyness. It's not as much about cutting out the unnecessary or prioritisation as it is about how we need to focus on what matters. Pastor Sexton used to say, "When Christ has His rightful place in your life, everything else will have its rightful place." This book covers that theme.
That said, it's a good book, can recommend (especially to newer believers or those who don't do a lot of heavy reading). I found it helpful.
