Harry Straight doesn’t want any complications in his life. Recently divorced, he’s about to set sail on a small boat along England’s south coast in order to reconcile with his estranged father. The last thing Harry needs is the responsibility of a mischievous and unpredictable beer-drinking dog called Lacey.
But when Harry’s canine crewmate discovers he’s only ever been with one woman, the fun loving terrier takes it upon himself to educate Harry in the livelier side of life, leading him from one inappropriate liaison to the next… with disastrous consequences.
Please be advised this is part 2 of 3. (Parts 1 & 3 need to be downloaded separately)
Mark Green is a British guy who got bored with the soulless nature of his job in the construction industry. In 2007, he and his girlfriend, Nicky, spent three months backpacking around South America, which provided the backdrop to this book. Upon returning to the UK after their adventure, Mark and Nicky decided that a conventional life wasn’t for them. They rented out their house and spent three years renovating a small sailing boat where they now live on Britain’s south coast. The Travel Auction is Mark’s first novel.
Part two is just as much fun as part one and continue with Harry and Lacey's escapades - usually involving women, drink and sailing away quickly. Some more characters are introduced, mainly ladies thanks to Lacey's good looks including Gertie who absolutely terrified me! There are a few hints in this book that Harrys relationship with his dying father is not all good and a few different emotions are portrayed. This is written extremely well and you get a real feeling of being there on the boat and being a part of it all. Looking forward to part three but not wanting it to end. A bit like looking forward to Christmas but not wanting it to be over!
This is the second part (of three) of Mark Green's new novel. I received a free copy in return for an honest review. This carried on directly from the first, with Harry and Lacey frantically trying to escape the wrath of Wayne. Lacey continues to make witty and pithy comments on Harry's actions, as well as being a total babe magnet, and frantically trying to drink his Guinness, while the flow of words continues to swell and flow, with a growing sense that time is running out - but why? Again, the story ends on a cliffhanger, and I was so glad I already had part 3 queued up!
Lacey makes me chuckle. cant look at a pint of Guinness without looking for a small slobbering pup. its a delightful story. can't wait to read part three ....
The second part of this trilogy was just as funny as the first. I can't wait to read the next part. I hope all of my unanswered questions are answered, like what happened to Harry?? Where's Keith?? What will happen with his dad?? Will Harry and Lacey find love??
