About the author

Mark Green is a British guy who got bored with the soulless nature of his job in the construction industry. In 2007, he and his girlfriend, Nicky, spent three months backpacking around South America, which provided the backdrop to this book. Upon returning to the UK after their adventure, Mark and Nicky decided that a conventional life wasn’t for them. They rented out their house and spent three years renovating a small sailing boat where they now live on Britain’s south coast. The Travel Auction is Mark’s first novel.

This was part three of three, and I received a free copy in return for an honest review.
Again, the story carried on from the end of the second, with Harry and Lacey having a narrow escape with a capsizing boat.
This part of the story had much more poignancy than the first two, with Harry making it to his father's bedside, but just a fraction too late. We finally find out the reason why Harry hates removing his shirt, but also that the sense of things coming to an end doesn't just refer to Harry and his father. I have laughed and cried with Harry, and the scrapes that Lacey has got him into, and was genuinely sorry when I finished the book
The writing all through these books has been delicate and sensitive, developing the characters until you really feel for what is happening to Harry, while secretly cheering on Lacey and his antics! An excellent and brilliant read!

The final part..all Harry's secrets laid out bare, how he got his scar and the kebab episode.
This part shows a lot more of Harry's emotional side-his trip to see his dying father, meeting up with Keith again and his relationship with Lacey as well as his own demons that I don't want to spoil for other readers.
The descriptions are very good and I could feel Harry's emotions as I read and I felt so angry at his father for his attitude towards the children.
This part continues to be as good as the others and Lacey doesn't hold back with his comedy antics in this one....
Most disappointing part? That this is the final part...I want more. These will definitely be getting a re-read but I feel that this series could go on much further.

What a joy this trilogy of books is. We follow our hero on a boat trip round the south coast with his four legged friend, and yes I, like all the women he met, fell in love with the dog Lacey. The book is about a physical and spiritual journey, battling physical and mental scars all dealt with empathy and humour. My only question is why have it in three volumes, all the parts were quite short so not sure it wasn't just one book, but would highly recommend it, a really good read.

Wow. What an emotional rollercoaster. I laughed and cried reading this book. As per my review of part 2, all my questions were answered plus a few things that I didn't see coming!!
