Claiming His Cursed Mate: A Rejected Mate Secret Baby and Bride Trials Werewolf Romance

Rate this book
What’s worse than being sold by your own father?
Being bought by the Alpha I once dragged home bleeding and slept with before dawn.

I was sold to Zarek Alpha, billionaire, a man cursed never to feel.
He threw me into his bride trials, paraded me like a candidate for his choosing, and still kept me in his bed, until every ounce of their hatred burned against my skin.

Then the curse flared, my magic slipped, and he saw me for what I was.
Witch. Burden. Exile.

The vampires had been waiting.
They wanted my secret baby and the truth I never got to tell Zarek, a bargaining chip strong enough to rewrite the order of wolves.

Now I am the mate he rejected, the witch holding the key to his freedom, the prize every monster in this city wants to claim.

The war between wolves, witches, and vampires is about to ignite.
And at the center of the storm, the Alpha who once cast me aside fights his way back,
not for his crown, not to break the curse,
but to my surprise, for me.

It was a shifter book that kept your attention. (Possible spoilers ahead)

There is open door spice, but it’s mild.
If I had to sum this up, I’d say this book is about curses, politics, prejudices, personal growth, and grovel/forgiveness.

h has a terrible dad and stepmom. She met H one night after he was stabbed and left in an alley. She took him home and patched him up. We know from her POV that she used magic, which is outlawed. H takes off when h’s stepmom notices she had a man in her room. H sends somebody to buy her from her parents. The parents take the money and kick her out. 🥴

H is the alpha. He knows that h is his fated mate. He was cursed “to not feel any emotion,” but he feels something for her. Naturally, his counsel wants H with a proper woman, not some nobody. They set things up so she has to enter a game. Win it, and you win the alpha’s hand. It’s not important to the story, really. It's just to show you how his pack abused her.
H and h embark on a “secret” relationship, but it’s really not that secret. Then it’s revealed h is actually a witch. 😱 Now the counsel is really upset. h finds out she’s pregnant, but before she can tell H, she is set up as a traitor.

The rejection was heartbreaking. We know from his POV he didn’t want to do it, but he did. He was sooooo easily manipulated (screams KING, right?) and his BFF was there screaming the loudest.
Poor h was thrown out without anything except the clothes she was wearing. She was chased and brutally wounded by pack members. If she hadn’t fallen off a cliff, she would have died.

She’s saved by the vampire king. Well, there’s a bunch of political stuff about werewolves, vampires, and witches. Neither likes the other. The timeline is murky, but the vampire king acts nice, but we know he is not. Scheming.

H starts to figure out he made a HUGE mistake. It’s funny how they always start to actually investigate AFTER the rejection.
There is this OW in the pack (who happens to be the only one with sense) and she’s able to help H get his head out of his arse.

I’ll skip all the other stuff because it is predictable and easy to work out what is going on. The main battles ended early in this book. The rest was all grovel.

h does NOT make it easy for H and his groveling. Seriously, after she saves his life during the final battle, she heals him, then disappears. For 3 years. 😱😱 When he does finally find her and his daughter, it’s not an easy road for him. The book was already at 92%, and I still wondered if she was going to take him back.
h does decide to give him another chance.
A year later, the pack now loves her, she’s pregnant again, and they get married.

Claiming His Cursed Mate completely swept me away from the very first page. Elara’s courage and vulnerability made her such an easy character to root for, and Zarek’s dark, brooding energy had me hooked instantly. The tension between them crackled with every interaction, and I loved how their connection grew from fear and uncertainty into something powerful and passionate. Gertty Rudraw’s worldbuilding was rich and atmospheric, pulling me into a story filled with danger, magic, and heart.

What really stood out to me was how emotional and unpredictable the story was—I couldn’t stop reading. The twists, the intensity, and the slow-burn romance all blended perfectly, making this an unforgettable paranormal read. It’s one of those books that stays with you long after finishing, and I can’t wait to see what Gertty Rudraw writes next!.

Elara saves Zarek but this causes her to be thrown out of her house. Zarek is the Alpha of his pack and he ends up buying her.

This was a fast and furious read. It is a page turner as you follow the lead couple. Elara is wonderful. She is everything you want in a heroine. Life throws so many curves at her but she is resilient. I like how she didn’t accept Zarek back immediately — she wasn’t a doormat. Zarek was the usual alpha character. He did come through for her at the end.

The storyline has many twists and has werewolves, witches and vampires in it. It also features a curse that needs to be lifted. I enjoyed it as it did pull me into this world the author created.

He spent his life looking for a cure to his curse
When she came along, it was almost all lost due to outside interference.
Someone was always trying to take either one down.
But her bloodline made her stronger and when she finally gets away, she survives.
He barely does, until he makes the right decision and his pack prospers because of it.
Eventually, fate steps in.
But the pain they go through to get there is brought by many.

From the first chapter, the story pulls you straight into a world of hidden packs, love, and secrets that refuse to stay buried. The writing is fast-paced and cinematic — you can practically see the moonlit forests, the tense meetings, and those heart-stopping moments where love and duty clash between families.

Lovely read

Werewolfs, witches n vampires are combined in this story. If you love a book w/ love, miscommunicated misunderstandings, heartache, danger and hearts that can love after it all, then this book is for you.
