NOVA: A Mythic Dark Fantasy Romance

Rate this book
Over a thousand years ago, the moon walked in a human vessel. She was called Selvanyra, the Mother of Lights and Keeper of Balance.
She bore offspring, and one of them was murdered. By a mortal.

The death shattered the moon, and she wasn’t merciful with her punishment. Instead of granting him death, she cursed him and stripped away his soul, binding him to wander the earth in immortal torment, unable to escape pain or time.

But the universe demanded balance, and a prophecy was one day, the soul he destroyed would be reborn, and if she willingly gave him her soul, he would be freed and be mortal again.

But she would die.

And if she refused, he would continue to exist until the end of time, missing his only chance at salvation.

Centuries later, that soul has returned in the form of a girl who questions everything and chases answers that may cost her life. Now, the cursed immortal must make a choice; one that will either save him and doom her, or save her and doom him.

Okay so buckle up this book is a wirlwind of emotions from the moment I opened it I was hooked. The way these characters played with my heart strings. This books has so much, romance, mystery and fantasy. The world and characters are built well with depth. The plot is unpredictable and captivating. I have read a lot of fantasy and based on plot alone I have read nothing like it. This book has changed my brain chemistry. I could not bring myself to put it down and when I had to it’s all I could think about. Thank you so much for the honour of reading your work

For me it’s a 10 and we can only pray and hope that this amazing Author gives us more of their writing.

Obsessed with this book 😍
I was fortunate to read the ARC and let me tell you that every time I picked up the book, it was so hard to put it down. I was hooked from the start and the thirst to know everything was there throughout the entire book. The characters were relatable and stayed true to themselves whilst still having good development.

Violet’s way of writing is simply amazing 👌🏻 Every sentence was beautifully crafted and I devoured every word. She thought of every little detail, making even the myths and lore inside her story sound like a poem.

I went through many emotions during this journey, laughing out loud, tears, and heart racing. The feels were there. There’s so many swoonworthy details to catch that left me 😩🥺

This is my honest ARC reader review. I truly have nothing negative to say about NOVA and I highly recommend it.

Be ready to fall for a man that may roam Nimorran without a soul, but not without a heart. ♥️

I liked the concept but I hated the main character. Tried real hard to push trough to find a few redeeming qualities in her but ultimately dnf. Writing was decent but could not get past how much this girl needed therapy (not in a sexy way but in a mentally ill personality disorder way).

I actually got an ARC of this book, and just as I was about to finish and leave my review, my little island was hit by a Category 5 hurricane. So this review is coming a bit late possibly days late by the time I get to post it, but I was determined to share my thoughts anyway, even after the book’s release.

Now, onto the review: I really liked this. It was a breath of fresh air for me where fantasy is concerned because I have not been having the best time with that gene lately. The concept, storyline, setting, and characters all worked for me. The only reason it’s not a five-star read is because something felt missing between the love interests. I didn’t fully feel their connection or chemistry, and I think part of that is due to the way the story unfolds, you can kind of predict where it’s heading from early on. Still, the author delivered some lovely moments throughout that I genuinely enjoyed.

This may or may not be an unpopular opinion, but I actually loved the ending. It made perfect sense for their story.

Overall, I’d definitely recommend adding this to your TBR, and I’d happily pick up another book from this author.

Ohhh Violet my dear?????? This was a good one. I read this book in one sitting, Thrax & Sanora had sinked their claws so deep it was hypnotic.

The playlist so very much matched the scenes that are in this book. If your destiny is already written in the stars, there’s nothing you can do to escape it. I cried with Sanora, my heart broke with hers, loved with her, I mean who doesn’t want a man who is so present and thoughtful like the soulless man? Their love story was both thrilling and terrifying. I loved this story soo much. It is beautifully written and you will love it like I did. I can’t wait to read more about Chezir Montgomery and how they get together after 21 years, I need more. Thank you Violet for letting me into your world early it’s been great and your book just dragged me out of a reading slump of 3 months🫶🏾🫶🏾

Wow wow wow! This story had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. The atmosphere gives perfect mystic/mystery vibes and the tension is just -chef's kiss-

Great world-building and lore, the characters are all 3D (even the side characters) and the story progression had me turning the pages for hours on end! I absolutely looooove Sanora and Thrax, both as a couple and as individual characters. Sanora is relatable and had me giggling a lot of the time, while Thrax is just the perfect, brooding, morally gray love interest.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and would recommend it for anyone who loves romantasy with a strong touch of mythology.

Hundreds of years ago the Mood walked in a human vessel. She had offspring and one had died by the hands of a Mortal. The Moon wouldn’t grant him death as punishment, instead she cursed him and stripped away his soul. Forced to walk the world as immortal.

However, there was a prophecy. The soul he destroyed would be reborn and if she willingly gave him her soul, he would turn mortal again and be freed of his torment, but she would die.

That soul returned centuries later in the form of a girl, Sanora, who questions everything and chases danger. And now the cursed immortal, Thrax, must decide whether he wants to save her life and doom him for eternity or lose the only person who’s ever made him feel anything but hollow.

This book took me on a wild ride. I’ve never read anything like this. I found Sanora SO relatable. Someone tells her to not do something, curiosity got the better of her and she had to. I enjoyed watching Thrax and Sanoras relationship bloom. Even lurking in the shadows he took care of her, he knew her. The writing in this book was another level. The details and descriptions and world building.

I didn’t know what I was expecting either the ending but I’m still shocked. I really hope I hear more of their story. I need more. Highly recommend this beautiful book.

I went into this with absolutely zero expectations because you know, reading quotes on Instagram and then reading the book can be disappointing a lot of the time. Honestly, I thought it’d be just another one of those “pretty cover, predictable plot, forgettable characters” kind of reads, the kind you pick up to pass time and then never think about again.
I could not have been more wrong.
From the first few chapters, something felt different. There was this quiet pull, like the story knew exactly what it was doing, even when I didn’t. And then suddenly, I was in too deep. Sleep schedule? Ruined. Responsibilities? Ignored. Because this didn’t just hook me, it completely consumed me.
If anyone ever asked me for the *ultimate* star-crossed lovers story, this would be it. No hesitation.
Thrax and Sanora? I’m not exaggerating when I say they’re perfect. Not in a flat, idealized way—but in a way that makes their connection feel inevitable and impossible at the same time. Every interaction between them had weight. Every look, every word, every moment felt like it mattered. Their love wasn’t just romance—it was tension, sacrifice, destiny, and defiance all tangled together. You feel what they’re risking just by being near each other.
And the world? Absolutely stunning. The magic system wasn’t just thrown in for aesthetics—it felt alive, structured, and deeply woven into the story. It had rules, consequences, and mystery. The kind that makes you want to pause and think, *wait… how does this all connect?* And then when things click, it’s incredibly satisfying.
The world-building itself was immersive without being overwhelming. You’re not dumped into pages of explanation—you experience the world as you go, and before you realize it, you understand it completely. That’s not easy to pull off, but this book does it effortlessly.
What really got me, though, is how everything came together. The characters, the magic, the setting, it all felt intentional. Nothing was wasted. Nothing felt out of place. It’s the kind of book where you finish it and just sit there for a second like… *wow.*
I genuinely did not expect to care this much. But now? I’m thinking about it constantly.
If you’re even remotely into star-crossed lovers, emotionally charged stories, or uncomplicated fantasy worlds, please pick this up. I went in expecting nothing and came out completely obsessed.

I just finished NOVA by Violet San, and I have to say—I was hooked from the moment I picked it up until I completely devoured it.
First, I need to appreciate the playlist. Every single song fits perfectly with the storyline, emotions, and characters—it truly elevates the reading experience.

The prologue instantly pulled me in.

Over a thousand years ago, Selvanyra—the moon goddess and keeper of balance—bore a child who was murdered by a mortal. As punishment, she stripped him of his soul and cursed him to wander the earth in immortal torment. A prophecy foretells that the soul he destroyed will be reborn, and if she willingly gives him her soul, he will finally be free… but at the cost of her life.

That alone had me completely intrigued and slightly terrified for my heart.

Now, the characters—both are beautifully written and stay true to themselves while still showing meaningful growth.

Sanora (FMC) is a 23 year old curious and fearless mortal who questions everything and isn’t afraid to chase the truth, even if it leads her toward danger.

Thrax (MMC)—a 14,023-year-old cursed immortal known as the “soulless man”—completely stole my heart.

Their relationship is well-paced and deeply emotional. They support each other in ways that feel genuine, and watching them find and cherish love was incredibly satisfying.
And Thrax… the man you are 🤌🏻

The way he expresses love is everything:

• Sanora was mine the moment the stars blinked her into existence.

•  I never feel alive, Sanora! But you make me feel alive.

• I don’t know where you end and where I begin.

• To etch you into my skull, To have your face own me completely, so that you’ll be the first thing I see when I close my eyes. That way, I’ll be able to take you with me everywhere.

• Until I realised the only thing that could truly come close to killing me...is losing you

• I’ve loved her, and the depth of that love terrifies me.

• She is the first thing in centuries that has ever made me want to truly live.

• This world would mean nothing without you in it.

He doesn’t just love her—he worships her. From caring for her to writing those heartbreaking letters…it was all so beautifully done.

Overall, I loved how the story unfolds from start to finish. The plot feels fresh, the writing is engaging, and the romance hits all the right notes. Definitely worth reading.

I’m really looking forward to more from this author.

One question though—what is Thrax’s age in the epilogue?

𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒘𝒐𝒎𝒂𝒏 𝒅𝒊𝒅𝒏’𝒕 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒊𝒕, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒔𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒐𝒙𝒚𝒈𝒆𝒏 𝒊𝒏 𝒂 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒉𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒅 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘𝒏 𝒔𝒖𝒇𝒇𝒐𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏.

The way I am absolutely obsessed with this story!! The yearning, oh my God, I devoured this book and I would read so much more of it!!! It was magical! I was hooked from the start.. the story, the mystic vibes, the history and myths, the curses, the characters.. everything was top tier for me. This book sucked me in in a way that I forgot everything else, it was all I thought about and could not wait to read more at the end of the day. Thrax and his yearning, his obsession and complete devotion to Sanora, my god, it was amazing. After a millennium living empty and alone, there she was. His salvation, his damnation, his everything.

“𝑾𝒉𝒐 𝒂𝒎 𝑰?”
“𝑴𝒚 𝒅𝒂𝒎𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏. 𝑴𝒚 𝒅𝒐𝒘𝒏𝒇𝒂𝒍𝒍. 𝑴𝒚 𝒅𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒓𝒊𝒖𝒎. 𝑴𝒚 𝒐𝒃𝒔𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏. 𝑴𝒚 𝒂𝒃𝒚𝒔𝒔. 𝑴𝒚 𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕. 𝑴𝒚 𝒉𝒖𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒓. 𝑴𝒚 𝒓𝒖𝒊𝒏. 𝑴𝒚 𝒘𝒆𝒂𝒌𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔. 𝑴𝒚 𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏. 𝑴𝒚 𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒈. 𝑴𝒚 𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕…” 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒆𝒚𝒆𝒔 𝒃𝒍𝒂𝒛𝒆𝒅 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒆, “… 𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒆. 𝒀𝒐𝒖’𝒓𝒆 𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒆.”

Sanora was just a girl in search of answers. Her whole life she questioned everything and would ignore her own safety if it led to satisfying her curiosity. Until she found him and all that came after him became everything, she finally understood her purpose. Everything she ever did led her to him and that moment and the second they were together it was like throwing gasoline into a fire, instant and unstoppable.

“𝑫𝒐𝒏’𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒄𝒂𝒏’𝒕 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖’𝒓𝒆 𝒐𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒌𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒔 𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒖𝒑 𝒂𝒕 𝒎𝒆 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒆𝒚𝒆𝒔, 𝑺𝒂𝒏𝒐𝒓𝒂. 𝑰’𝒅 𝒃𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒊𝒕𝒔 𝒌𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒔𝒌𝒆𝒅 𝒎𝒆 𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒏𝒐𝒘.”

This dark mythic fantasy was absolutely incredible and I loved every second of it! The spice was also delicious to read, it matched the characters and the speed of the book. I loved every single aspect of this story and it left me wanting so much more!! I’d definitely read more epilogues of what came after everything! So good!!

"To every soul who has felt unworthy, too ordinary to be loved and chosen--remember, you are more magical than you know, and even the impossible hearts, the legends themselves, cannot help but fall for all that you are" One of my favourite dedications to date.

"I'd bring the whole world to it's knees if you asked me right now." oh Thrax.. THE IMMORTAL MAN THAT YOU A R E!! 🥰🥰😚😚

I was lucky enough to recieve an arc of this book and I really really loved it. The premise of the book was really different to what I usually read. The storyline kept me hooked from the get go. The ending was not expected AT ALL.

The world building was very small but detailed, since the story takes place in a small town and the suspense in the beginning of the book actually gave me the creepy crawlies. I love it when a book can evoke emotions other than happy and sad.

The only thing that annoyed me was Sanora being so clueless? I felt like even when she had all the pieces to figure out Thrax's curse and how she's related to it she just closed her eyes and pretended she didn't have that info. ugh.

Also, I love me a man who would buy all the hotels in the town and force me to share the only remaining room with him. Harassment? no. OBSESSION? yes!!! 🤣😍 OH and dont forget how he FEEDS HER ALL THE TIME.

"Your thoughts control your emotions, your emotions control your heartbeat," he said softly, "and your heart leads me to wherever you are. That's how I always find you." aaaahhhhhh ❤️❤️❤️

“You are mine, Sanora, and I will go on wanting you until the stars themselves collapse.“ 🥰😘

Mind blown and speechless, i’m not gonna lie but this book captivated me from the beginning to the end. I loved the characters and the plot! Everything about it was sooooo good! We have forbidden love, her emotions connected to his, immortal X mortal, obsession, morally grey mmc, stalking, cursed hero, reincarnation. Thisssss is for you and me because it will take you on an emotional roller coaster.

You know the saying ‘Curiosity killed the cat’ it’s Sanora to a tee. I find her relatable in ways that she does the opposite of what you say, you can feel her passion and love. I enjoyed Sanora’s and Thrax’s story and the interactions between them. I don’t know what I was expecting with the ending but I’m still in shock and still processing. But I 100% recommend this book, I loved it soooo much. And Miss Violet, you ate that!! Thank you for writing this beautiful and marvellous book!🩵

I was really intrigued by this story, the premise pulled me in, and the writing kept me turning the pages. There’s definitely a creative world here, and I can see the passion the author poured into it.

That said, I did struggle a bit with the main relationship. The MMC came across a little bit off rather than appealing, which made it harder to enjoy the romance the way I wanted to. I usually love a morally grey villian/hero, but this one leaned a bit too far into overbearing territory for me.

The main thing that really gave me pause was the fact that he’d been stalking her since she was a baby - it just added a layer that felt a bit uncomfortable.

Still, the story had some strong moments and a unique vibe, and I appreciate being gifted the chance to read it. Definitely a creative and interesting take that fans of darker romances might still enjoy.

I was crying sobbing and shouting at the ending. I did not see that coming. 😭 But nonetheless, it's been awhile that a story made me feel like this, I read it in 18 hours straight with my busy life in the midst of it. I could not for the life of me put it down!

I literally had to take a hot shower after reading the ending. The writing was impeccable!

I hope, I really hope this book soar through. It demands more readers!! I hope booktok community will find this story, I really hope it will be popular.

Thank you for this author!!! It looked like a standalone, by the looks of it. But a book 2 is commendable! 😂

Again, thank you for this. It's been awhile since I felt like this, reading a book! 🥹♥️

I started this book without any expectations because I couldn’t remember how I got the arc, but when I started reading it, my oh my…:it took me to another dimension, this book is like a breath of fresh air from the usual fantasy book. I needed to know who wrote it, till I found out that I have indeed requested for it after seeing the trailer on tiktok. This book has a little mix of dystopian inside fantasy, the author found a way to write about the characters in a way that’s funny yet didn’t drive us away from the main point of the story. I was giggling, then frowning, then laughing, it was on a different level for me. I love it.

"No matter what shape she took, no matter what form, she had carved me into the core of her existence, and there was no lifetime in which she wasn't my centre."

if I could give a book 10/5 stars, I would because this one has to be my MOST FAVOURITE one till date

I would have said till yesterday that "Once upon a broken heart" by Stephanie Garber has been my book, a love story I would cherish.

But this? This is something else, a hidden gem, a book I would keep safe within me. It fixed something in me I didn't even know was broken.

Unexpectedly good character? Amelia
and unexpectedly worst character? Weeny Man

I really really loved this book, the maturity in writing was beyond my words. A proof that you dont have to follow the trend to make your book not only worth reading but to make reader fall in love with your characters. Specially i love the female character she was logical, sensible, strong which is hard to find now a days. And i have no words for thrax. I wished i could steal him. One of the most cutest man. May be because he born more than 1000 years ago. His sarcastic dominant nature wrapped in care and sweetness was out of the world. I can write a whole essay

nova is everything i didn’t know i needed.

i’ve always loved immortal x mortal tropes, and this delivered in a way that felt mythic and haunting. thrax’s longing for sanora is the center of the story: it’s intense, consuming, and written with a level of passion that makes it impossible not to feel something back. the tension is constant, the obsession is layered (not shallow), and the mythical atmosphere makes every scene feel immersive.

the writing kept me hooked immediately. it’s the kind of book where you don’t just read the romance, you feel it.

and the ending… wow. my jaw literally dropped. i get why some readers might struggle with it, but i felt like it fit the story’s heart: love taken to an extreme, where devotion becomes something dangerous and unstoppable.

This book completely captivated me from the get-go. I absolutely fell in love with the characters. Sanora is truly one of a kind. So brave, and Thrax is undoubtedly the most beautifully written MMC I've ever read. I’ve never come across anyone as compelling as him. I need more. I feel like we were robbed of 5 more chapters.

This started out as very interesting, had me hooked from the start. The dynamic, tension and chemistry this story holds is phenomenal. I loved the interactions between the FMC and the twins, that was the part where I laughed like crazy. The story also made me cry like a baby (I'm not complaining.)

I'd like to thank the author for giving me this opportunity to ARC read this wonderful story.

I was very fortunate to get this as an ARC from Violet and feel terrible that it took me so long to write a review!

The mystical nature of this book pulled me in. I really enjoyed the way in which the crater and surrounding areas was described. The way in which the crater takes over the town is captivating. I felt the pull to the area as much as Sanora did.

The love story between Sanora and Thrax is at times very dark and consuming and at other times as if he doesn’t care at all. Soulless he may be but heartless he isn’t.

I enjoyed Sanora’s feisty attitude toward most things including Thrax. Alternating between finding him mouthwatering and hating his existence is something we’ve all experienced in our own lives.

This book was so good! One of the best I’ve read in a long time. I understand a little why the ending had to happen like that but it was a little disappointing. And I was a bit confused on how he wasn’t aged a lot after 21 years?
