The Quiet Collector

Rate this book
The Quiet Collector is a dark, obsessive romance unlike any other.

In a dusty, dim bookstore, Ivy finds more than a job. She finds Lucien Marrow...quiet, controlled, meticulous. He stalks the aisles like a shadow, collecting secrets in silence.

At first it’s only glances, small rituals, a coin placed on her tongue. But soon the rituals deepen...counts, rules, blades, ash, and blood. What begins as compulsion becomes complicit desire. Ivy learns to obey, learns to want, learns the true cost of surrender.

But Lucien is not only a collector of books. He keeps trophies in places no one will ever read. And when the hunt closes in, Ivy must is she his captive, or his accomplice?

A story of appetite and aftermath. Ash and teeth. Love at its most deviant. Obsession at its most ruinous.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ :Dark, Addictive, and Sinfully Captivating

The Quiet Collector didn’t just pull me in it wrapped a hand around my throat and held on in the softest, most startlingly intimate way. Wolf Gunnar writes darkness with this slow-burn intensity that feels almost seductive. Every chapter had this simmering edge, like danger was brushing up against my skin and daring me to keep turning the page.

The tension in this book? Electric. It’s not loud or flashy it’s the kind that coils low and tight, building heat in all the quiet moments. You feel it in the stolen glances, the unspoken intentions, the charged silence where you just know something is about to break.

The main character’s Ivy and Lucien's emotional unraveling felt raw and strangely intoxicating. There’s a vulnerability there that makes you lean in closer, even when you know you shouldn’t. And Lucien Creepy, yes. But also magnetic in that dark, forbidden way the kind of character who shouldn’t be alluring, yet somehow absolutely is.

Gunnar walks this perfect line between psychological fear and a strangely intimate tension that kept my heart pounding. The writing is sharp, atmospheric, and unapologetically bold. And that ending? It didn’t just linger it smoldered. I was replaying scenes in my head like I wasn’t ready to let the story go… or maybe it wasn’t ready to let me go.

If you want a book that’s dark, addictive, and tinged with a hint of dangerous heat, this is it. Wolf Gunnar delivers a story that’s not only gripping, but deliciously unsettling in all the best ways.

Some books whisper.
This one breathes down your neck. 😮‍💨

Dark, elegant, and completely unhinged in the most addictive way — this story isn’t just read, it’s experienced. Every page feels like a secret you shouldn’t know but can’t stop unfolding.

Lucien? Haunting. Ivy? A fever dream of curiosity and surrender. Together? A beautiful descent into madness wrapped in poetry and blood.

It’s twisted. It’s tender. It’s art with teeth. 🩸

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me — and I’ll be thinking about this one way longer than I probably should.

The Quiet Collector is a beautifully dark written novel set in a cozy bookstore. The slow build keeps you hooked, making you want to turn each page.

I especially enjoyed the repetitive elements in the writing, which create a nice rhythm and draw you deeper into the characters' lives. This is a must read!!

I kiss her mouth. No kindness. No theft. An exchange that leaves both accounts hot. I leave when the need tries to become taking without permission.

Normally we automatically assume something will be smutty when we see that a book includes BDSM. That is NOT the case in this story, but it's completely unnecessary. This story is sensual as opposed to sexual. It's completely unexpected and oh so good!

Wolf's way with words is not something I'm used to, but I have been enjoying. I will admit that it does take me a bit longer to read, but it's perfectly okay to slow down & think.

Lucien is haunting. Ivy is pure curiosity wrapped in a beautiful package. Together they poetry in motion. He has no issues with taking anyone out who dares to reach into her space. Together they work side by side at a bookstore while he quietly leaves tokens from his kills hidden for her to find.

Not only is their relationship and growth fully ritualistic, so is the book. The ending is not something I saw coming and I can guarantee I'll be thinking of this for a while.

This story revolves around Ivy and Lucien who both work at a book store. Lucien becomes obsessed with Ivy and this relationship develops to where Lucien becomes obsessed with Ivy. So much so that he eliminates any potential threats to her and while doing so, he starts collecting small items from his victims. These items become tools to teach Ivy obedience and to control desire. This is a dark romance and Wolf does an incredible job with the suspense and intrigue of this story that you just have to keep reading to find out what happens. I highly recommend.

Bonnie and Clyde have NOTHING on Ivy and Lucien. (except for maybe being real people).

Hells, this book was amazing. I cannot blame Ivy in the slightest for getting on her knees for this man instantly. i personally don’t believe in obedience on command, but obviously that's a lie since I couldn't put this book down, and I was hanging on the psychopaths every word.

We all know there is something deeply wrong with me.

Reading Wolf's work is like stepping back in time and reading the classics. Nothing is straight forward. The plot is not only in the interactions between characters but in the life that is given to the atmosphere around them. Simply, a beautiful way to read about getting away with murder.

Holy wow! This book is intense! Makes you think! You have NO idea what is going to happen at the end. The dynamics between the characters is soooo well written! You will be on the edge of your seat the entire time. Such a wonderful mix between spicy and suspense.

Add this to my list of what the f**k did I just read books.
This is another 5⭐️ book by @authorwolfgunnar
Wolf has a way of sneaking past your defenses when you least expect it.
This book is quiet in its simplicity. Lucien and Ivy's story isn't filled with big moments but many small but incredibly sensual nuances.
Another must read by Wolf Gunnar.

Love or obsession...which consumes first?
There’s a certain kind of story that doesn’t just speak to obsession — it becomes it. This is one of those rare books.
Set against the hushed rhythm of a bookstore, a man haunted by his own darkness crosses paths with the woman hired to work beside him. What follows isn’t simply a romance; it’s an unraveling — a study in the blurred lines between love and fixation, devotion and control, the kind of consuming pull that most writers try to capture but rarely can.
The dialogue feels startlingly real — stripped bare of pretense, raw enough to sting — but it’s the internal dialogue that truly resonates. It’s relatable in the quietest, most unsettling way. You find yourself recognizing thoughts you’ve never dared to voice, tracing the logic of obsession, understanding how something destructive can still feel divine.
If you’ve read widely in this genre, you start to see the patterns — the recycled tropes, the predictability that dulls the spark. But this story breaks that rhythm. It pulls you in as though you’ve wandered into a forgotten bookstore and stumbled upon ghosts — the two of them circling each other in a private orbit, unaware that you’re watching.
Their connection feels inevitable. She drives his thoughts and actions with nothing more than her presence, while he commands her movements with a gravity she doesn’t resist — a magnetic push and pull that’s both terrifying and beautiful. It’s the kind of compulsion we all know too well, like reaching down to pick up a shiny penny, humming the old tune without thought — only to find it later in your pocket, not quite remembering when or why it got there
And when the final line fades, it leaves you with a question that lingers like smoke:
Who was the dark sun here — and who was merely caught in its orbit?

@authorwolfgunnar delivers a compelling bdsm story with a sinister side story and I'm here for every bit of it.

Recommended to readers within the bdsm community and readers who understand surrender at its most deepest level.

"A record.
A vow.
I want to keep you."

This is an erotic and sensual story in its own right, but not in the way most erotic books border on p*rn these days. The scene building, the repetition, the burning desire, the control, the surrender... we are delivered a powerfully erotic story of devotion and surrender without the need for overly physical scenes.

"Slide the blade, flat, along her collarbone."

"The absence is louder than presence."

"She did not break the moment because I left the room."

"The kind of devotion you can measure."

I loved every word of this and I felt drawn to the characters. I was invested in seeing the relationship progress as well as seeing what turn the endjng would take. Wolf Gunnar never dissapoints.

"Being kept. Being free."

Deliciously addictive. Lucien and Ivy hooked me from the BEGINNING.
This was the most descriptive and immersive dark romance that I've ever read.

Mr. Wolf Gunnar, you're a genius.

Stalking. Serial Killing. Possession.
Obsession. Obedience. BDSM. Rituals.

This book sucked me in, and then promptly spit me right back out, in the BEST way.
AND I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT!
