Color-coded and neatly organized, Aubree always has a plan. Everything in its place; no surprises, no nonsense, no room for error. But, when her ex-boyfriend and her dream job both pull a disappearing act just months before her graduation, she’s forced to scrap the plan and take a job as a camp counselor at her childhood summer camp with her friends, putting her dreams on hold—temporarily at least. There’s nothing a little nostalgia, sunshine, and s’mores can’t cure. With new career prospects on the horizon, things might just be looking up for Aubree. What she didn’t expect?
Mateo Opetaia.
Obnoxious, annoying, a walking disaster— Mateo made Aubree’s life a living nightmare for years, and yet, he’s hard to ignore. He’s everything she shouldn’t want and doesn’t need. But, the more time they spend together, the more she begins questioning what she thought she already knew.
Mateo is the thing she never saw coming. Still, she must decide between the careful path she’s created or risking it all for a love so familiar yet unknown.

I wanted to like this one a lot more than I did. It had the perfect everything for me: a woman with a plan derailed, a swoon-worthy romance, and a summer to find love. But there was just a few too many things that missed the mark for me, which left me middle of the road for this story.
I did really like Aubree as a character. She was smart, forward thinking, and ambitious: all things that I love seeing in a FMC. I think it was great to be able to see her grow into not having to have all the plans and everything in the future laid out for her as she started to fall for Mateo and learn to love herself, imperfections and all. I think her story was well crafted and a great introduction to Coventry Falls.
Mateo was HOT and I liked everything about him and their interactions. I liked that he was sweet and caring while still true to who he was as a person. He was definitely a multifaceted character and I liked learning more about him throughout the story.
But I found myself wondering why it mattered so much what Mateo did in the past and how that impacted Aubree to this extent. We were given pieces throughout the novel, but none of them felt like such egregious things to me that I wouldn't be able to see past them. Maybe that's just me having been out of high school/university for a long time (oof, ten years now), but they seemed so inconsequential that it felt like there needed to be a reason for Aubree to not want to move forward, but not a big enough reason that the reader would dislike Mateo.
Otherwise, I enjoyed the friend group, the setting, and exploring the different relationships that I anticipate seeing in future instalments of the Coventry Falls series! I am really excited to see where Delaney goes next.
I do think that this is a really cute story and one that I definitely could see fans of Carley Fortune eating up!
I was lucky enough to be given an ARC copy of Flowers for No Occasion and I am so glad I did.
It’s the perfect dose of sweetness I didn’t realise I needed. Mateo and Aubree’s connection was evident from the first interaction we witness, and it only gets better and better as the story goes on.
I really loved their dynamic and I can relate to Aubree’s overthinking at every turn so much! Mateo’s calmness in response was so well balanced, there were so many subtly sweet moments between the two.
Both MCs developed so well and I fell in love with them and their story. I also have to give a special mention to the friendship group, I adore a strong friendship group and this story definitely has that in spades.
I really enjoyed this and can’t wait to see what Delaney writes next!
I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review
Andre’a Delaney’s debut brings summer camp back to life. Strong character depth, a diverse cast, and a loyal friend group make this story memorable.
Aubree Harper is strong‑willed and determined not to stray from her five‑year plan, while Mateo has always been on the outside looking in, wishing for a chance with her. Thrown together in camp situations, they find themselves closer than expected — and Aubree may just open her eyes to love again.
Delaney really gets into the struggles Aubree has after college graduation and things not going according to her plan. She gives you all the feelings. She provides a great supporting group of friends, with issues of their own, and parents that are there for her too. The depth of all this was a surprise in a debut novel.
Read this, and you’ll be ready to gather up your friends, go back to camp, and have some s’mores of your own.
