Worst Christmas Ever …

Blake

Ollie is the worst! He took up half my seat on the plane, and now he's taking up my entire vacation cabin, the one I booked after my sister said I couldn't come home for the holidays this year.

After a night of pouting (and waking up curled next to this stranger, who is almost as warm as a cozy fireplace), I sympathize with him. He's also avoiding his family, but for a different reason. They want to know when he'll settle down and start a family.

The longer we stay in this three-room cabin together, the more I wonder the same, and if he'd consider settling down with a grumpy, high-maintenance omega like me. Oh, did I mention he's a bear shifter? I wouldn't dare snuggle up to a wild animal, but this giant in my bed is giving me all kinds of knotty ideas.

Maybe our shared cabin with only one bed isn't so bad, after all.

Bear with Me is a snarky, spicy holiday mpreg romance between a sweet sunshine alpha brown bear shifter and his grumpy perma-frown human omega. If you love home-away-from-home Christmas activities, apology presents, "I don't know if you've seen you, but you're way too big to sleep on a loveseat," versatile positions, and adorable babies, this book is for you!

Bear with Me is part of Double-booked for the Holidays, a multi-author mpreg shared setting at Christmas series with sexy shifters and forced proximity. Each book can be read as a standalone, but why not read them all?

This was adorable.
Nothing new, but sometimes that doesn't matter, especially with a Christmas story.

Absolutely adorable. A story so filled with heart I thought, on more than one occasion, that my own might burst! It's also funny, thoughtful and caring. There are some deep moments which are incredible, dealt with sensitively and carefully without changing any of the feelings the story is developing.

Ollie is having a vacation, a Christmas one, for the first time ever without family. He would usually go home to spend the time with them but he realised he never gets a break. He's the oldest and although all his brothers are capable he gets all the tasks, they get to sit around. Not this year. This year he has a cabin booked, woods for his bear to roam and plans to relax.

Blake is having an impossibly bad day. He completely missed the mark in his interview, despite being prepared, dropped mustard on it over lunch, had to endure a few more work hours, then bad traffic. By the time he got to the airport ready for his first Christmas vacation without his parents and knowing his sister didn't want to see him, he was not in a good mood. His mood did not improve as one thing after another conspired against him, including, apparently, the gorgeous man. next to him on the plane.

This same man was Ollie and when they both reached the lodge, for yes, they were booked into the same place, they discovered their room, all the rooms in fact, were double booked! As far as Blake was concerned it couldn't get any worse but then, breaking down and sobbing over Ollie whilst sharing his story, something subtle changed.

More changes are to come for them both as they settle into sharing the holiday, managing family expectations, and for Blake, loss. For the reader this is a charming, heartbreaking in places, and incredibly warming story. There is sadness for Blake, for his situation, but as things progress we find ourselves knowing he is going to find his one, find love, acceptance, family and make his own, with Ollie. As for Ollie, well his bear, and he, could not be happier with the way this vacation turned out...

A wonderful holiday read, full of love, warmth, charm, cookies - especially cookies, an an overload of cute. What more can readers need?.

This book is part of the multi-author Double-booked for the Holidays series. The entire concept is fun and this book lived up to that expectation. This is the story of Ollie Beaman and Blake Stokes. Allie is an brown bear shifter that is spending his first Christmas away from his family. Ollie was the oldest of seven boys. He always ended up tackling a long list of seasonal chores over the holidays while his brothers remained warm inside with no additional tasks appointed to them. Ollie is tired of being taken for granted and wants a holiday where he can do just what he wants to do. He is looking forward to escaping to his shifter vacation cabin. Blake is having a terrible year. The unexpected death of his parents has him trapped in grief. He can't seem to move forward. His lone relative, his sister, doesn't want to see him for the holidays. He hates his job and just blew a promotion interview before catching the plane. And finally his roommate and friend sprung it on him as he was leaving for the airport that he was moving out. He couldn't take Blake's drinking anymore. This is before he finds out that he, a human, has been accidentally booked at a shifters resort. So he takes his frustration out on his fellow travelers. He is rude, pompous and a general pain in the neck to everyone. Especially his seatmate, Ollie. The two meet again when they show up in the same cabin. The double booking of the cabin is just a bridge too far for Blake. He breaks down and decides that he has to make changes in his life. He has to deal with his grief in a better way. Good thing that the friendly and supportive Ollie is there to help him. This is their story. I really enjoyed this book. It is a cute story though Ollie is much more forgiving than I would ever be. Must be that mate thing in action. I look forward to reading more books in this series.

I thoroughly enjoyed Blake and Ollie’s story from their first meeting, on. Ollie was such a sweet, considerate man/bear, tolerant of Blake’s grumpy attitude originally, then building him up whenever he could once they became “roomies” for the duration and beyond. Ollie was stability for Blake, while Blake was more emotional at times, but also structured and organized in the way he approached things. Blake’s reaction to seeing Ollie’s bear was not what I expected, especially given how emotional he could be, and it was refreshing to me, and I think Ollie, too. The two found they fit well together, which was lucky since they were fated, and though there were bumps in the road, the journey to their HEA went relatively smoothly. I also loved the way Ollie’s family, and especially his mom, embraced Blake and his sister into the family, helping to heal the grief of their loss over time.

I always enjoy the shared author series with unusual themes for meeting, and this one is cute with the double booking at the resort. I especially enjoyed Branson, the cause of it all, and I am sure we will see him again in the other books. I look forward to the other books in the series, and do find it fascinating how each author can take the basic premise and essentially make each episode unique enough to not be a cookie-cutter story with only the names and shifter animal changing. Christmas themed ones are always fun to read heading into the holidays. Loved bear shifter Ollie and his adorable mate, Blake. They were an entertaining introduction to the Double-booked for the holidays series, one I am sure will be enjoyed by others this season too.

I was thinking Branson was a mischievous Fae when I read the first book. But it turned out to be just a simple computer glitch. Which led to the concierge double booking all the cabins at the Winter Wonderland Wilderness Lodge. All 150 of them. Sadly there are only eight books in this multiauthor series.
Both human Omega Blake and Alpha bear shifter Ollie have good reasons for seeking out a remote, solitary Christmas. Ollie needs to get away from his overbearing mom who uses his annual Christmas visit to assign a long list of tasks, most of which could be done by his brothers who don't live five hours away. This is his first Christmas since losing his parents, and Blake's world has shrunk to a soul stealing job and a weekend hangover. His anger and grief are expressed in snark and downright meanness.
They don't meet cute. They're seatmates on the flight to Pinevale. Luckily Blake is cute and Ollie and his bear like how he smells. Ollie is the sunshiny one in this trope heavy (A/O, hurt comfort, proximity, fated mates, one bed....) story. Blake does loosen up on his Grinch act as the mate bond settles. He really is a sweet man under all the hurt.
It's a quick, sweet read. There's a bit of angst as Blake works his way through some of his grief. A nice level of spice. And yes, the HEA ends up with babies.

Ollie is an alpha bear shifter who decides to spend the Christmas holiday away from family, mainly his mother. He never gets to enjoy the family gathering, so why go. He ends up at the Winter Wonderland Wilderness Lodge, in a cabin with an enticing human omega.

Blake is a human omega that's having a really bad year. Lost his parents, job sucks and now he's shoved between two people on a long flight. He's hoping two weeks at a lodge will allow him healing time. To his amazement he's double booked into the same room as the man he met on the plane.

Ollie is a sweetheart. I loved him from the beginning. Blake is more prickly and kind of a kill joy. He's a work in progress. The book isn't a sweet, fluffy Christmas romance because of the heaviness of both MCs lives. Their storylines made this a struggle for me to read. I started skimming pages at 40%. I liked Ollie's family except his mother. She was mean to her SIL and DIL for no good reason. She never redeemed herself. Blake's sister and BF were okay. They had issues with Blake's attitude that were completely understandable. I didn't feel any excitement or wow factor at any point. I also felt it was more like a book written around Christmas vs a Christmas romance. I actually feel down after reading this. 😪 This may be just me but it just wasn't that good. Sorry. 🤷‍♀️

When fate double books your cabin—and your heart.

A cozy cabin getaway turns into anything but peaceful in Bear With Me, an MM shifter romance full of emotional healing, unexpected connection, and primal chemistry.

Blake and Ollie each arrive at the remote mountain retreat for different reasons—Blake to drown the grief and bitterness of losing his parents, Ollie to escape a family that sees him more as free labor than loved one. Fate—or rather, a booking error—throws the two together in one cabin. What starts as irritation and awkward cohabitation soon ignites into something deeper when Ollie’s inner bear recognizes what his human heart refuses to admit: Blake is his mate.

The forced proximity lets their vulnerabilities surface—Blake’s self-destructive spiral meets Ollie’s gentle steadiness, and their emotional walls crumble in the flicker of cabin firelight. As truths about shifters and humans intertwine, the story balances tender healing with the raw pulse of instinct and desire. And yes, Edie Monte leans fully into the knotting, heat, and fated mate dynamics, all wrapped up in Christmas snow and emotional redemption.

A warm, growly, slightly spicy story about grief, healing, and the power of finding home in another’s arms.

Bear with Me is an unexpectedly charming mix of grumpy–sunshine tension, holiday chaos, and shifter warmth. Blake and Ollie start off on the wrong foot, quite literally sharing too much space on a plane and then far too much space in a double-booked cabin but their forced proximity turns out to be the best part of both their ruined holiday plans.
I really enjoyed the contrast between Blake’s prickly, dramatic omega vibes and Ollie’s gentle bear-shifter energy. They balance each other well, and the slow shift from irritation to comfort to genuine affection feels natural and sweet. There’s humour, plenty of chemistry, and some surprisingly emotional moments that add depth without weighing the story down.
It’s definitely adorable, and while a bit over-the-top at times, it works for a festive mpreg romance with cosy vibes, one bed, and a big soft alpha who only wants to take care of the man he accidentally ended up sharing his holiday with.
A warm, funny, and feel-good Christmas read, just right if you’re craving something equal parts spicy and soft.

Ollie and Blake wanted time away, alone. Blake is still grieving from the loss of his parents, he knows he cannot keep living the way he is and Ollie just wants to escape his family. However their plans change quickly when they realise they have to share a cabin for the whole of their holiday.
It was a good job that Ollie did not judge Blake on first impressions because Blake was grumpy and came across as so unapproachable but there were a lot of reasons why he was like that and I felt so sorry for him.
This is a delightful read and Ollie was perfect for Blake, giving him the space he needed, never pushing and was adorable to him. Blake once his walls started to come down was becoming the person he was before his loss.
But it was not all for Christmas and I loved seeing how their relationship blossomed. I am still undecided whether I like Ollie's mom or not.
I loved the idea of the cabins being doubled booked and as this story is part of a multi-author series I have plenty to read over the Christmas break

Blake is having a terrible year. He lost his parents in an accident, his sister isn't able to come home for the holidays, his roommate is moving out and then he discovers the cabin he booked for the holidays is double booked. Meanwhile, Ollie just wanted to spend the holidays alone, his family expectations of him something he just wants to put aside for the year. Oh, and Ollie? Also a bear shifter. Blake has no idea they exist until Ollie shifts one morning while he's watching out of the window. There's also that fated mates thing to deal with. Ollie figures out what he needs to do (including some therapy), is welcomed into Blake's family - as is his sister - and then he gives birth to two more grandchildren in Ollie's family. All fun in the end even as there's a lot to get there.

I'm enjoying this series...the books are so freaking sweet, fun and cute. Edie Monte's contribution to the series had me all in the feels. You wouldn't think that Blake and Ollie would ever be a fated match...especially how they first met...but things change once they were double booked in the same cabin for the holiday. Ollie was just a sweet as can be teddy bear where as Blake...smh...he had a lot of issues so he came off as grumpy and oh so irritating. Ollie saw underneath that gruff and found a kind but a little bossy omega that his bear scented mate. Things got better and I enjoyed their journey...not top rocky but a healing journey for Blake and a sweet romance for both...Loved it and I highly recommend.

Come on Blake had a really bad day, but doing as he did in the plane to Ollie wasn't necessary at all. Luckily he can make it up, because of a double booking they are sharing a house over the Christmas holidays.

Ollie wanted to not go home for a year, since he always had to do so much, while his brothers didn't have too. He was done with that.Blake booked this to get his life back on track after the death of his parents and his grieving over it making him spiral into somebody bad.

So lovely to see how they are bonding and how they needed each other. But what will happen with them after this holiday? The book does tell this and it doesn't disappoint at all. Nice to see how it turned out with Ollie his mother and the others in both their families.

Olie and Blake are both looking for some time away over the holidays but fate had other plans. Olie wants time away from his family and their demands. Blake wants time to himself to deal with his grief after his parents' deaths. This unlikely pair find themselves seated together on their flight to Oregon. Blake has had a bad day and is upset. Olie really doesn't like Blake's attitude but still finds him attractive. Finding themselves booked in the same cabin for the duration is unexpected but turns out to be quite pleasant especially as Olie's bear soon recognizes that Blake is his mate. A very enjoyable holiday forced proximity romance.

Wonderful holiday MM paranormal romance. The concept for the series as a whole is creative, and having this couple arrive already having had previous altercations makes their shared accommodations even more awkward- but funny!😊 Ollie is so level headed and calm, while Blake is a total mess (not all the time, but he honestly NEEDED this vacation). Written smoothly, this heartfelt story really pulled me into their lives. The handful of secondary characters all contributed along the way as these guys worked to find a new, post Christmas normal.

This book is part of a multi-author series and can be read as a standalone. I was gifted a copy and voluntarily provided this review. Happy Reading Y'all 📚

This is a spicy, MM mpreg story with fated mates and shifters. Our alpha, Oliie meets their omega on an airplane on his way to his first Christmas holiday apart from his family. Our surly omega, Blake is just trying to figure out how to deal with his grief from losing his parents earlier in the year.

I enjoyed this story. At first, I was not a fan of Blake’s until we figure out why he’s so rude. I’m not saying it excuses his outrageous behavior, but it certainly allows us to feel a lot of sympathy and compassion for him. I really admired his drive to improve himself and learn healthier coping strategies to deal with his losses. Ollie was a big old sweetheart, a teddy bear if you will. These two did well to balance and complement each other.

'My bear was already smitten with my human mate. I had a feeling I wouldn't be far behind.'

I really enjoyed this book. It was such a cute holiday romance. Good world building and wonderful characters. I loved both alpha bear Ollie and human omega Blake. They made a sweet couple and I liked the scenes with Blake and Ollie's bear.

'I found a bear in the kitchen on Christmas morning. No one would have believed me if I told them.
"Why Santa, what a big hairy behind you have."
The bear snorted and rose up on his hind legs, since he couldn't back out of the kitchen without running over me. He hit his head on the cast-iron chandelier, sending it rocking back and forth, and landed back on his front feet.'

I also liked the later scenes with Ollie's family. 4 stars

"I've seen you on a bad day, and that only makes me like you more. Together, we can have fewer bad days."

This book is by Edie Monte and is part of a multi-author series called Double Booked for the Holidays. This is only the second book I've read by this author and I have enjoyed both of them... I guess I need to take a look at other books from their backlist.

What a cute story just in time for the holiday season. I normally don't start my holiday reading until after Halloween but when I saw this pop up on Booksprout it sounded too good to pass up.

Ollie & Blake

I could have sworn I read at least the first few chapters or a novelette version of this story, because so many moments seemed incredibly familiar, including the characters themselves. If I read it in an anthology collection, I couldn't find where it would have been. 🤷‍♀️ That said, I greatly enjoyed the story and I loved watching grumpy Blake melt into the sweet mate that Ollie loves so easily. It was a quick bit of holiday fun with some lite family drama that is resolved with love and understanding.

Bear with Me was a great holiday read and another fun mpreg story from Edie Monte. I love diving into their stories, especially those with fun shifters.

This was a really sweet story, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. When Ollie who is an alpha bear shifter and Blake who is a human omega have a very different vacation than what they planned for, and are both booked into the same room, in fact all the rooms at the lodge were double booked. The story was very well written, and the two main characters were able to share their feelings, and I felt that the storyline was strong and although there was drama and angst between the two, they were able to have a HEA together.

What a cute holiday book!

You start off with Blake and immediately feel connected with this big gentle bear, literally. Then in comes Ollie, someone who you feel the need to dislike right from the beginning, but first appearances aren't always what they seem
They get stuck together after a terrible first impression, but Fate never lies.
You get to spend the holidays with Ollie and Blake, as well as a heat!
It's a gentle yet spicy holiday novel that gets you excited for the snow to fall and love to warm you up.

This is seriously such a cute read. Once I started reading I did not want to put it down. The only reason that I did not read it its one setting is because I started the book at my son’s speech therapy appointment. I loved all of the cozy vibes that was in this book and the relationship between Ollie and Blake is adorable. The pacing of this was great and allowing for the growth between the two without dragging on. Edie did a a great job on touching on the topic of grief and family dynamics without taking the sweetness from the story.

A huge thanks to the author Edie Monte for gifting me with an advance readers copy of this sweet read.

I enjoyed this book a lot! Even starting with a very common trope, the author is able to make it their own and write a very entertaining tale.
Ollie is amazing, patient, supportive, gentle while Blake is stressed, dealing with grief and abandonment issues.
I liked how they pause sometimes, enjoying building a relationship instead of going full blast after discovering their compatibility.
The way Edie Monte inserts the sifter angle and how the very human Blake deals with bearing cubs is very believable.
A cozy read, don't miss it!

This LGBTQ Bear Shifter romance was such a lovely and naturally developing story. The romance unfolds smoothly, without feeling rushed, and the overall story is engaging and full of warmth — just what you’d want from a Christmas read.

It’s a cozy, exciting book that balances the festive spirit with just the right touch of shifter magic. If you enjoy holiday romances with heart and supernatural charm, this one is definitely worth picking up!.

Loved this Christmas themed, one bed, bear shifter/human fated mates, close proximity story. Ollie and Blake had some obstacles to overcome during their journey and getting to know one another, this story was cute and enjoyable. Great writing, good plot characters were engaging with great banter and kept me reading and entertained until that last page. Loved the family unity and highly recommend during this Holiday Season!!.

I absolutely loved this book. It was a little rough reading about Blake losing his parents. Cuz I recently in the last couple years lost both of my parents. And Ollie he was a big teddy bear no pun intended. A quote from the book that had me lmfao was "Why Santa, what a big hairy behind you have." I also appreciate that the chocolate chip cookie recipe was in the back of the book because I figured I was going to have to look online to try and find that.

Edie did a beautiful job in writing a unique holiday mpreg romance. Ollie & Blake do not get off on the best start cause Blake is accepting it is time to grieve and move forward from the loss of his parents. Ollie wants an escape from his family obligations for one holiday season. They end up in the same cabin where they take their time to get to know each other. I adored that this wasn't one of the fated mates' stories that they immediately mark one another and have a happy ending. They work for what is best for both sides to have a long and meaningful relationship. Loved to see their feelings develop and only when they are both stable, they mark. What a beautiful way to begin the mpreg holiday romance season!

Mistake, or fate? Blake and Ollie, are spending the Holidays away from family for various reasons. They thought they could dwell in their feelings alone, but ended up sharing a cabin. When they open up, they learn a lot about themselves and each other. Ollie is a bear shifter who is all sunshine. He has an overbearing mother who has a long to do list for him every time he goes home. His brothers live nearby but never end up doing the tasks. Blake is a human omega who recently lost his parents. He is grumpy and snarky. These two meet on a flight and Ollie knows Blake is his mate. This is a cute grumpy/sunshine Christmas romance that will be sure to make you smile.

WOW!! So Good!!

Well written story and well developed characters.
Blake was angry all the time! It was the only way that he could deal with his grief. Maybe his vacation would help.
Ollie was tired of being the only one that did any of the chores when his family got together for the holidays. So he was going away on vacation instead of being with the family.
Oh, oh, double booked!!

Ollie and Blake story was endearing with emotional moments, a couple of misunderstandings and disagreements, as well as lots of love.
It touches some sensitive subjects, so it is important to read the trigger warnings.
I loved their chemistry, their loving moments together, and how they expanded their family.
