Every captive breaks. Every secret is revealed. There are no rescues. No escape. No exceptions.
Lithia is no stranger to pain. She’s fought for her place, bled for her pack, and carved out respect as Shadowmist’s first female beta. But when betrayal lands her in an underground prison, silver-bound and isolated, it’s not pain that threatens to undo her.
It’s the silence.
Until he speaks.
In a place built to shatter her, the broken, sarcastic nomad in the next cell becomes her anchor.
To escape their prison and expose the war brewing in the shadows, Lithia must face the ghosts of her past and decide if she can trust the one wolf with the power to save her soul... or destroy it completely.
I enjoyed this book even more than the first in the series! Lithia is my favorite. She's such a baddie and I love her for it! The world building in this one is awesome too. If you like werewolf romance, this series is for you. I definitely recommend it!
The world building and story telling IS great! Lithia IS a badass but she's suffered loss and doesn't trust easily. Specially after being betrayed by someone from her inner circle. Kier has been imprisioned for too long and doesn't trust himself anymore, or what's real. Until he feels her, and she changed everything!
I LOVE that doesn't explain every single thing that happened in the previous book, repeting It. But also means that its adviced to read the one before.
⭐⭐⭐⭐.25 / 5 Heat rating: 🌶️🌶️.5 / 5 peppers due to the scenes not being frequent and took time to happen but were fairly descriptive
This was a very interesting new story in the Shadowmist Pack series, while it was rife with conflict and rather traumatic for the main characters. The plot of the story took some time to build as it begins with Lithia's capture that happened in the first book. The start of the relationship between Lithia and the nomad Keir was entertaining. I really liked how they connected in the captivity. I even laughed out loud when Keir made the comment about the emotional support prison glory hole. The relationship itself took much longer to build past the friendship point, there was actually a point where I wondered if the book was going to end on a cliffhanger. Thankfully it ended happily but I was worried for a bit there. I didn't love the slight miscommunication vibes that were riding the undertones of this book, so much could have been solved sooner if they all would have just opened their mouths.
This book had a little more worldbuilding which I enjoyed since I have been super curious about since the first book. I liked that we got to see a glimpse of other weres, witches, etc. showing that they will likely be in future books. I felt with this book I learned more about the pack and their dynamics with each other. Dane and Keir's friendship warmed my heart. I loved how quickly Dane accepted the relationship between Keir and his twin Lithia. Alternatively, Levi can go step on a Lego. That is how I'm still feeling about him at this moment. Maybe he will redeem himself in his book but he didn't win any points with me in this one.
Overall I really enjoyed the story, it was a slower build but I still got my HEA so I can't complain about the journey too much. I look forward to reading more about the Shadowmist Pack in future books. If you are looking for a good wolf shifter/werewolf romance book then be sure to check out this interesting series.
When Lithia wakes up in a dark cell, she understands that she's in a dire situation. She has been betrayed by someone she trusted, she let her pack down, she let her alpha's mate die. But she'll not break. She'll escape and go back to the pack she sworn to protect.
Unexpectedly, she hears a voice. There is someone in the cell next to her - a nomad wolf that has survived their captors. Kier. He becomes her anchor, her source of comfort and hope.
Kier can't believe there is actually someone in the other cell. He's convinced he's hallucinating her as it's been known to happen. After all, three years of captivity, suffering all sorts of torture will do things to someone's mind. But then she reaches her hand through a small opening in the wall and something springs to life in him: HOPE.
Together, they will try to escape this hell... and seek revenge.
I love this second installment in the Shadowmist Pack series! Lithia is a badass heroine who's afraid of loving because everyone eventually leaves her one way or another. Kier is also (literally) a lone wolf, a nomad, who's lost everyone near and dear to him.
I particularly liked that Evie took the time to develop a bond between them. We spend the first third of the book getting to know them in the same way they are getting to know each other. We eventually follow them back to the Shadowmist lands but the time we spent with them in captivity makes us root for them as a couple, even before we (and they) find out they're mates.
A great shifter story, with a strong heroine, a hero worthy of her, touch her and die vibes, spice (slow burn but we get there...), knots (if you know you know) and a beautiful HEA.
I can't wait for Levi's (and his very unexpected heroine) story! And give me Dane too!
Content notes (including but not limited to): violence, gore, torture, psychological and physical trauma, mental illness (PTSD with hallucinations)
Savage Bonds is the second book in the Shadowmist Pack series. I loveddd this book!
• fated mates • prison meet cute • she’s the Beta in her pack • he’s a nomad • forced proximity • wolf shifters • care taking
Lithia is a strong, independent FMC who gets captured at the end of Feral Fates (first book but different couple). She is locked in a deadly prison after being betrayed by an ex pack mate. Lithia is the Beta in her pack and seriously kickass!
In the next cell, separated by a wall, is a Kier. He is a sarcastic nomad shifter and has been imprisoned for years. When he hears a voice, he is convinced Lithia is a hallucination. They form an instant connection and Kier finds out pretty quickly they are fated mates.
Also Kier and his caretaking? So good! The romance is a slow burn and there is a lot of resistance from Lithia. She lost her parents when she was young and is afraid to love due to this loss. This could’ve been resolved quicker, IMO, and I was frustrated with Lithia at times.
Overall, this was a really exciting and fast paced read. The spice is so good after the long build up and the primal chase scene at the end? Fire.
4.5 ⭐️ 🌶️🌶️ - medium spice, explicit content sprinkled throughout 1st person, dual POV
Seeing them in captivity was pretty tough, but I loved how Lithia created this renewed sense of hope for Keir after having been tortured and imprisoned for so long. He finally had a purpose: someone to protect and care for.
Their relationship went beyond trauma bonding and their individual trauma actually worked against them in some ways. Of course, I felt a lot of sympathy for Keir and how his brain dealt with all of his hardships. Lithia kind of worked against herself, but when she finally let her walls down I was so happy for them.
I absolutely need to see what will happen with this horrid, eugenics-style cult and I’m so excited for Levi’s story! Hoping to see more of Dane in the next book, too 👀
Thanks to the author for the advance copy 💝 Available now on her website or everywhere else on March 15th!
Wow just wow. I have been an avid fan on Evie for many years and loved the first book in the Shadowmist series, Feral Fates. This second book blew me away. I loved the dynamic between Lithia and Kier. They had such a strong bond but both have a past that makes it hard for them to see it through. Over time they begin to trust each other and work to escape their captors but their story goes much further than that and they face many adversaries and challenges to not only themselves but their potential future together. This book follows on seamlessly from Feral Fates and hooks you in straight away. It’s a good job I was off work as I could not put it down! It is well written with an original story. The characters are likable and you root for all of them, not just the protagonists. A must read for fans of shifter romance who like action, boldness and a good dose of heat. I loved it and can’t wait for book 3 (no spoilers!).
Slightly slower pace than the first, more slow burn than raging fire. Does constantly teeter on the edge of the miscommunication trope, but (thankfully!) the characters constantly veer away at the last minute and are prepared to talk things through, even if they take a little longer to do so than I personally would like. A throughline of abandonment colours the story, but does not overpower it, and the romance between the characters grows naturally as the story progresses. Fans of the first book will enjoy the second, especially the expanded development of the Shadowmist world, and it certainly kept me up past bedtime. Bring on Book Three in the Shadowmist series!
Book 2 of the Shadowmist Pack series. For maximum enjoyment read the books in series order.
She nust 'decide if she can trust the one wolf with the power to save her soul... or destroy it completely. Revenge is best served bloody.'
The characters drove the storyline and they were very compelling and complex and complicated and perfectly steamy together. Plot was intriguing and intense and exciting and well paced. World building continues to excel and impress. All in all a great addition to the series. Enjoyed immensely and highly recommend.
Grab a copy, kick back and enjoy!.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I loved this werewolf romance. Lithia was fierce. I absolutely fell in love with her character. This story pulled me in from the beginning and held me until the end. I loved the twists and turns. The world building was great. It was so descriptive, just a beautiful way to play this out in my mind. Such a great story. I hope to read more.
Got to 35% because I found the premise interesting: two werewolves meeting while they were held prisoner. The conversation between them felt so rushed and empty though. And the pace was all over the place: quick, then slow, then quick again.. not sure what could have made this a good reading experience.
Loved the first book and this one was fantastic as well! Loved it so much. I purchased this book on the authors website and tore through it in a day! Couldn’t put it down!
