HIS DAUGHTER’S FAITHFUL COMPANION by Ciara Knight is the magnificent story of Ryan Tanner, single father, Ellie, who has dangerous allergic reactions to peanuts, and Brooke Sanders, dog trainer. Starting out seeing things differently might end up with them seeing more than eye to eye.

Ryan, widowed 6-years-ago, feels he failed at keeping his wife safe. With some near-death experiences from her peanut allergy, he fears Ellie may not recover from another one. He mustn’t fail her too! While at a client’s home, also the local dog rescue, designing him new artificial legs that will enable him to be active in a sport he once loved, Ellie had another peanut episode. Max, a dog at the rescue, alerted-while not perfectly, and saved her life. Ellie falls in love with Max and their immediate connection has Ryan determined to add Max to their family. He even offers to donate funds for another dog to be trained for someone else. So why is Brooke so against it?

Brooke started with dogs back when her less than stellar father forced her to train them to fight. At 16, one of the dogs mauled a little girl –something she’s always blamed herself for. Forced into foster care when her father was imprisoned, she’s been determined to try to right a wrong. She’d never allow an aggressive dog enter an unsuspecting home. While at the dog rescue, she saw Max’s alert, but it was his aggression in the alert that worried her. Learning Max had been a service dog for an elderly lady that died has Brooke feeling his loss and aggression make him unfit as a service dog now. She agrees to work with him to see if issues hold true or if she is wrong.

Will Max be the answer to a prayer? Will a little girl, with wisdom of one much older, enable Ryan and Brooke to see things her way? Can Brooke work through the fears of her past and her father’s control? Can Ryan and Brooke agree on what’s best for Ellie–and Max? Can Ryan and Brooke become friends? Dare Brooke dream that she could have a normal life? Will a patient, understanding and nonjudgmental man give her hope? Can Ryan get over his feelings of failure and open his heart again?

HIS DAUGHTER’S FAITHFUL COMPANION is a masterly written, heart-tugging story of turning loose of the past, living in the present and daring to dream of a future. Ciara Knight gives us a story of forgiveness, family, self-worth, overcoming obstacles, romance, trust, community and wraps it all in a fabulous thread of faith. HIS DAUGHTER’S FAITHFUL COMPANION is absolutely a FIVE-STAR book that I highly recommend to everyone!

While part of the K-9 Companions series, HIS DAUGHTER’S FAITHFUL COMPANION can most definitely be read as a standalone book.

I received an ARC of this book with no requirement or expectations of a review. All opinions are completely my own.

An emotional k-9 centered single dad romance with Ryan Tanner living on edge every moment fearing he will lose his precious nine year old daughter Ellie like he did his wife to a heart attack because of his inability to act fast enough. Ellie suffers from a life threatening peanut allergy and Ryan must keep her away from many activities that she would like to attend but a chance meeting has them coming in contact with Max, a cute blue-eyed beagle-husky mix taken in at the rescue ranch and he’s already been trained to alert to the peanut scent. But unfortunately Max shows signs of aggression and his trainer Brooke Sanders, who is carrying the weight of some very big traumatic childhood experiences, refuses to allow Ryan and Ellie to adopt Max until, at least, he undergoes more testing and training. It is during this time that this little group, surrounded by some caring (possibly sweetly noisy) friends begin to bond, break down walls leaning on their faith to trust each other in their own healing and find that maybe even love could be possible.

A well written book with deep emotional content that pulled at my heartstrings with likable characters and Max stealing top place. I thought it did excellent in showcasing the hardships in the life of those who suffer from life threatening allergies as well as those responsible for keeping them safe. Likewise, it showed that traumatic childhood events will stay but they do not have to control one’s life forever especially when you can lean on God and others for support. I believe this to be a good read for all ages particularly teens and up.

This is book forty five in The K-9 Companions series and it is Ryan and Brooke’s story and it is definitely a must read. Ryan is a single father to his nine year old daughter Ellie who has a severe peanut allergy, so after Ryan’s wife died who he couldn’t save he was determined to protect Ellie who is his reason for living and he is determined to not let her down. Brooke works with specialised K-9 dogs that assist people with special needs but when Max comes into the shelter Brooke sees aggressive tendencies and thinks that he is not suitable to be an assist dog. When Max saves Ellie from a episode Ryan and Ellie decide that he is the dog to help Ellie have a bit more freedom but Brooke disagrees but Ellie and Ryan are determined so in the end Brooke decides to help because of her past experiences. Ryan and Brooke both have traumatic pasts that have made them into the people that they are today but working together they become close and feeling start to grow but because of their pasts neither are willing to commit which leaves them in a stalemate situation and if they want to be together they will both have to confront their pasts if they are ever going to have a future together and become a family which is what they both want and deserve especially with everything that they have gone through in their lives. Wow this book takes you on a real rollercoaster ride of so many emotions and I read it in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down as it was so addictive. Ciara Knight is a amazing author and writer and she certainly knows how to bring out all of your emotions and I can’t wait to read more of her books in the future.

If you love a good Christian romance, this one’s for you. Ryan Tanner is a widower with a young daughter, Ellie. He’s very protective of her because she has a peanut allergy. He also feels guilty about the death of his wife. He couldn’t save his wife and she died in his arms. He felt helpless. Like he let her down. It won’t happen with Ellie. Can’t blame the man for wanting to protect her. Brooke Sanders is an animal trainer. She has terrible past. When she was sixteen, her father had her watch an aggressive dog who broke free from her and mauled a little girl. Her father went to prison for fighting dogs and the accident. She blames herself to this day. Brooke went into foster care. Now she’s trying to help other people with their animals. When she meets Ryan and Ellie she can’t help but think he’s a wonderful father and Ellie is adorable. Now they want her to train Max, a therapy dog who has a traumatic past, when his owner died. He ran away. Can Brooke train Max so he can save Ellie? Will he be able to detact peanuts and get to Ellie in time to keep her away from danger? As Brooke spends time with Ryan, Ellie and Max, the more she feels like she wants a life with them. She didn’t think she could ever have it because of her horrible parents and upbringing. Lots of twists and turns. I didn’t want to put it down. Worth the read. The characters are wonderful. They both need to realize that they can have a life if Brooke learns to trust and Ryan lets go of the past. I was rooting for all of them. I received this book for my honest review. I give it voluntarily.

His Daughter's Faithful Companion by Ciara Knight
An Uplifting Inspirational Romance (K-9 Companions Book 45)

Book 43 of 44: K-9 Companions
A chance for redemption
Begins with a special dog

Single dad Ryan Tanner is fiercely protective of his daughter. So when a dog at the local rescue farm saves Ellie from a life-threatening allergic reaction, Ryan is determined to adopt Max as an allergen detection dog. There’s only one problem: trainer Brooke Sanders. She thinks Max’s unpredictable behavior makes him unsafe to place with a child. Convincing Brooke to give Max a chance isn’t easy, but convincing her to give Ryan a chance might be even harder. As Ellie bonds with both Brooke and Max, Brooke can see what being part of this family might be like. But is she willing to take the risk?
My favorite quote is
Ryan’s face lit up with relief. “Thank you. I really believe this is worth trying.”

Maybe this wasn’t just about Max or Ellie or training a dog. Maybe it was about finding trust in unexpected places—between a man who needed hope and a woman who could offer it.

But no matter how much she wanted to help, she feared something could go disastrously wrong…
I recommend reading this book.

This clean Christian romance is filled with heart.
Widower Ryan Tanner still feels responsible for the death of his wife and will do everything he can to protect Ellie, his sweet nine year old daughter. A girl who has a life threatening allergy to peanuts.
When these two meet a dog at a local rescue facility, Ellie falls in love with him. It’s obvious that dog has been traumatized after losing his owner, and according to the dog trainer, Brooke Sanders, he is too dangerous to have work as an allergy detection dog.
Determined to do all he can to get the dog trained so his daughter can have a normal life, Ryan and Ellie commit themselves to training with the dog.
Brooke’s past has made her at times overly careful, but after Ryan’s determination, decides to help this pair.
As she does, feelings develop between them but both have to overcome their past. Plus what happens when Max, while trying to protect Ellie, seems to display aggressive behavior?
The plot was engaging and the main characters likable.
The story was also touching and at times heartbreaking. It was also a reminder that our past experiences, whether those we experience as a child or a trauma as an adult, will affect the person we become.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

His Daughter’s Faithful Companion by Ciara Knight
Can this dog make a difference in his daughter’s life and make his life easier and less fearful? Ryan Tanner is a single dad that lives in fear of loosing his daughter due to her severe peanut allergy. He’s afraid to let little Ellie out of his sight and doesn’t allow her the freedom to go to friend’s homes or play away from his control. Brooke Sanders works with specialized K-9’s that assist people with their special needs. When Max comes into the shelter and seems to alert Ellie to an episode reaction, Ryan sees this as a sign the dog needs to be there for Ellie, Brooke isn’t sure because Max seems to have some aggressive behaviors. Due to an incident in her past where a child was injured due to an aggressive dog Brooke doesn’t want a repeat that could put Ellie in jeopardy so she doesn’t share Ryan and Ellie’s insistence that Max and Ellie belong together. Will Brooke and Ryan be able to work through the feelings from their past so Ellie can have Max, the dog that she loves and is sure is just for her? "I received this book free from the author, and this is my honest review."

This was such a touching story of hope and healing, and forgiveness, centering around the relationship of a young girl, Ellie, and her beloved and life-saving rescue dog, Max. Widower Ryan Tanner and Brooke Sanders have each struggled with guilt for events in the past and have tried to exert extra control in their lives to make up for these regrets. It is through Max’s training as an assistive pet that the two meet and go through many rough patches before getting to steady ground. I loved the way Ryan and Brooke’s friends showed up for them again and again as they dealt with hard things and also how Brooke’s faith developed with the encouragement of Ryan and her women’s Bible study group. Sweet Ellie and Max stole the show with their incredibly heartwarming and tight bond. Another beautiful story highlighting how positively trained dogs can enhance people’s lives as well as bring them together.

I received a complimentary copy from the author as part of a giveaway. A positive review was not required and these are my own and honest opinions.

Loved this book!! The storyline will definitely pull at your heartstrings. Ryan Tanner's world revolved around Ellie, his daughter. His angst at dealing with her nut allergy was a 24/7 reality. When Ryan and Ellie find the dog, Max, at the dog rescue, it seems like a heaven-sent opportunity for Ellie to become more independent since Max could sense when she was having an allergic reaction. However, Brooke Sanders, the dog trainer, is reluctant to pair Max with Ellie. Brooke is dealing with childhood issues resulting from a traumatic incident involving her father. Can Brooke overcome her fears and see that Max is meant to be by Ellie's side to love her and keep her safe? Max can help give Ryan the peace of mind to allow Ellie more freedom as she grows, if only he can convince Brooke to let it happen. This is a fantastic read which I highly recommend.

I am sincerely grateful to the author for sending me this ARC copy. I am leaving a voluntary review.

Ryan is very protective of his daughter, Ellie. Ellie has a peanut allergy. They are at a farm where is is helping a Logan with his legs. Ellie sees a dog she likes that is there for training. This dog, Max, was new to the program and had not been vetted yet. He takes to Ellie and she takes to Max.

She has a reaction to peanut dust in the kitchen and Max tries to warn everyone. Brooke who is the trainer says she thinks he is aggressive not knowing what was going on. Ellie wants this dog as her therapy dog for her allergy.

Will Brooke be willing to train the dog for her or find that his actions are too aggressive? Can Ryan help persuade Brooke to try for Ellie's sake?

This story is very well written! I could not put the book down once I started it. I had to finish the book to see what happened.

I loved this heartwarming romance for Ryan and Brooke. They both felt guilt from events that happened in their past, and they had to learn to trust in order to build a relationship. Ryan was a widower with an adorable little girl named Ellie. All the characters were likeable but Ellie stole the show. When a rescue dog being trained by Brooke saved Ellie's life when she was exposed to a peanut product and quit breathing, Ryan wanted to adopt the dog they named Max as an alert dog for Ellie but Brooke thought he was aggressive until they learned the truth. You will have to read the story to find out if Ryan and Ellie would convince Brooke to let them have Max and were they right about his skills as an alert dog.. I highly recommend this book for those who enjoy an inspirational romance. This is my voluntary and honest review.

His Daughter's Faithful Companion by Ciara Knight has two sober minded adults and one enthusiastic nine-year-old girl who captures your heart. Then there is also one dog, Max (Bartholomew), that has their focus for most of the book. Like Max the characters have all had trauma in their lives, for the adults especially, it is affecting the decisions that they make. From the beginning I loved Ryan, Brooke, young Ellie and Max, enjoying the way faith is woven throughout their story. Even when more problems come caused by those who should love not used family, God is at work.

His Daughter's Faithful Companion is part of the K-9 Companions Series, this is an uplifting, faith-based book that has characters you be rooting for, just like me.

Ciara Knight used a deeply personal experience to craft the story of Ryan and Ellie Tanner and her life-threatening peanut allergy. Ryan is seeking an assistive K9 to help warn Ellie of a possible allergic reaction to peanuts in many situations.

If you, or someone you know, suffers from a life-threatening food allergy, you will completely understand the situations presented in this story. The quest for the K9 seems complicated from the very start, but in the end, Max the K9 saves the day.

Brooke takes her job as a trainer for K-9 Companions very seriously, so seriously that she removes a highly trained dog because of its aggressive behavior. Having faith that she can retrain the dog isn't easy for her, she lost trust in herself a long time ago. Brooke is lucky that she has met so many supportive people that want to help her. I enjoyed this emotional, romance with the K-9 theme.

Great continuation of the Willow Oaks series

Ryan and his daughter Ellie are at the rescue center when they meet Brooke and Max, an unknown rescue dog. Ellie has a severe peanut allergy and is exposed but Max gets attention to save her. It is discovered that Max was trained to detect peanuts, but he reacts too strongly sometimes. Ryan is determined to get Max to protect Ellie. But Brooke has her own demons that make her very doubtful that Max will work out. Will Max be able to overcome his problems? Will Brooke ever be able to trust Max...or Ryan? Read this to find out!

The pace is engrossing and the tone is uncertain with a character centered storyline that has some kisses only. The characters are vivid and endearing. The Christian ideals are a strong part of the story and move it along. This is a great story about second chances and all the good it can do. This is also #4 of the Willow Oaks series. 3 of them are also K-9 Companions, but the first one, Blessing in Disguise, is not. Enjoy this story about rescue dogs, service dogs, veterans and prosthetics.

This is the third book I have read by this author. The chapters are a little long but since the story is so good it does not make it feel like it reads slow. The secondary characters in this novel were primary characters in her previous books and I am so glad to hear more of their story in this one. Both main characters have baggage from the past that they need to work through. The daughter of the main male character has a deathly peanut allergy. Her dad is highly concerned about her having an allergic reaction without him there that he really does not allow her to do much by herself. I really felt for him because I think I would have been the same way as him if my daughter had that allergy. This novel really grabs your heartstrings and doesn’t let go. It was such a great read.

I received a complimentary copy from the author. The opinions in this review are my own.
