They sought the mountain for its history. What they found was a future.
The city of Skrasforge is thriving, but the goblins who'd lived there before the dwarves weren't feeling so lucky. Downtrodden and indentured to a band of trolls, they owe a debt that will not be easily repaid.
The Empress of the trolls wants her tribute, and if the goblins can't pay, they'll serve in her army to take what she's owed. And she plans to take it from Skrasforge.
Entrenched once more in their ancestral home, the Dragonhammer Clan plans for the future, building infrastructure and starting families. When news of the coming invasion reaches their ears, there is no discussion of fleeing again. This is their home now, and they're willing to fight to the death to hold it.
Driven by timeworn grudges and territorial claims, only war will settle this dispute. And it's one that the Dragonhammer Clan intends to win, no matter the cost.
The Dragonhammer Saga isn't the story of one dwarf, but of the whole clan. If you want the whole vibe of dwarves as hard-drinking, hard-working, family oriented, and tougher than nails (or just about anything else), then this is the series for you. If you prefer your dwarves and gruff, bearded miners who might occasionally break into song, good this is also the series for you!
I am a creator of worlds and a destroyer of words. As a fantasy writer, my works range from traditional epics to futuristic fantasy with starships. I have worked as an unpaid Little League pitcher, a cashier, a student library aide, a factory grunt, a cubicle drone, and an engineer--there is some overlap in the last two.
Through it all, though, I was always a storyteller. Eventually I started writing books based on the stray stories in my head, and people kept telling me to write more of them. Now, that's all I do for a living.
I enjoy strategy, worldbuilding, and the fantasy author's privilege to make up words. I am a gamer, a joker, and a thinker of sideways thoughts. But I don't dance, can't sing, and my best artistic efforts fall short of your average notebook doodle. When you read my books, you are seeing me at my best.
My ultimate goal is to be both clever and right at the same time. I have it on good authority that I have yet to achieve it.
The Dragonhammer clan has liberated their home city. However not all is perfect. The city is quite a large area for their few dwarf families to inhabit, and those that are moving in are diminishing the population of their initial outpost. Also, efforts at trade are rough as most trade partners primarily want the chemicals that the previous goblin occupiers produced. Meanwhile, the goblins that fled the city are now having a rough time living with the trolls, under the rule of the troll "Empress". All of this comes to a head, that, while slightly predictable, still has some twists that made for fun reading. All in all, I felt this was a satisfying conclusion to the series.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
