A dead body that moves as if it's alive and has a taste forhuman flesh. They are the most loved and interested supernatural beings in games and movies. One that no one expects to be real.
That is until Storm Veils. With only one person in mind, Storm and the residents living in his home set out to find the suspect and figure out what happened to Storm and why.
UnDead is a gripping tale of survival, horror, secrets, and hidden betryals with mutiple povs.
Where do I even start… I just finished this book and wow. I’m honestly not okay. This story was incredible, full of emotional twists that kept me hooked.
Undead follows Storm, who wakes up one day realising he’s been dead for a year. Half alive, half dead. How is the question that drives the storyline. Soon, the chase begins as he discovers a mad scientist experimented on him, causing him to end up undead. Along the way, he meets two guys living in his old house who end up joining him on this wild journey.
My favourite character has to be Desmond. He’s broody, handsome, and dangerous, the perfect balance to Liam, who’s sweet, helpful, and endlessly supportive of Storm. The story is surprisingly cosy for the most part, even with its darker elements. I felt like I was travelling with the characters, and there were some really sweet bonding moments between them.
Then it took a darker turn near the end, and suddenly you’re strapped in emotionally. I also really appreciated the research behind the book. At first I thought some of it was made up, but I went to check for myself and learned some new theories about zombies today…
I felt so much reading this: mostly frustration, because I was trying to guess the plot twists like a detective… and failed spectacularly. That ending? I did not see it coming.
ChaFay owes me therapy after this, and maybe some emotional compensation too. She will hear from my lawyer.
Having read ChaFay's books, I can honestly say I've seen her storytelling and writing grow with each one. This book was my favourite by far, although very close to the dark romance series which I devoured in only a week.
I'm already counting down the days until her next release... with zero patience.
And thank you to the author for the early digital copy! I can't wait for the actual release of the physical copies.
The reason this book lost half a star for me is the ending. It was incredibly well done, but it also broke my heart. That half star is purely for emotional damage compensation.
Undead is a refreshing read with a unique take on zombies. I really love zombie stories, so I couldn’t resist picking this one up.
The characters really stood out for me, especially Desmond. While the book explores darker themes, I also enjoyed the little moments of friendship and found family vibes.
This was my first ChaFay read and I can’t wait to check out her other books.
The cover is amazing and fits the story perfectly. Reading this during the Halloween month added such a great vibe as well. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a spooky read.
