Plot: ADeB looses her mind in a fit of rage and attempts to murder EB who’s visiting the Collins @ the Parsonage near Rosings. While EB fights for her life we see several characters show who they really are thru some moderate emotionally draining angst. Jane does go to help her sister & repay the nursing debt during the aftermath of this catastrophe, & we watch the Fitzwilliam/DeB families align vs truth with reprehensible behaviors; the loyal to Darcy cousin Col F makes a kind of deathbed promise to pursue justice vs his cousin Anne DeB (Darcy of course is on EB’s side) & truly becomes an ‘us vs them’ scenario—good vs bad! Gentry vs Nobility etc etc.
There is a HEA - but the epilogue wasn’t quite as satisfying as some others I’ve read — but that’s prolly due to my own implacable resentment lol! This book is well written, pacing is good, & dialogue very witty! I like Mr Mann’s more sharply defined JAFF characters in this book. Def recommend.

Outlandish, but great fun

During Elizabeth's visit to Charlotte Collins at Hunsford Parsonage, while on one of her many early morning walks, Elizabeth is run off the road by a mad and angry Anne Debourgh, who is recklessly driving her phaeton with intent to murder Elizabeth. Elizabeth falls into a deep ravine, gravely injuring herself, while Anne loses control and goes off a cliff, killing herself and the horse. Several hours later someone realizes the two women are missing, and Colonel Fitzwilliam and his dog are the ones to eventually discover the carnage.

I like this author. He's an automatic purchase for me. This story grabs you from the get-go and almost never lets up. The premise, and many of the later situations and circumstances, are outrageous, but it's a great adventure. Mr Mann writes the entire story in an extremely tongue-in-cheek manner, and the characters are all extremely forthright, many times downright over-the-top belligerent. The romance is lovely, if at times very odd, and much of the time stretching credulity. There are many fantastic comeuppances, so that's satisfying.

I deducted a star because the story dragged somewhat during Elizabeth's convalescence, when there was a lot of analyzing going on, and too much repetition about Elizabeth's aches and pains. Also, the repeated emphasis on the amount of drugs and alcohol involved in Elizabeth's recovery, even after Elizabeth started feeling somewhat better, left me flat, and was disappointing. I did love that Jane was allowed to have a personality. Although there were a fair number of editing errors, the book is very well written, and I recommend it highly. It's dramatic, poignant, romantic, exciting, and entertaining.

enjoyable and innovative

A great story that was hard to put down, despite some parts dragging a bit. A very clever and unique storyline

Totally original!

Written in an entertaining and well thought style, the story deviates from the original to create an emotional variation where our beloved hero shines. I also enjoyed the changes in Jane, and the surprising events along the plot. A most interesting read!

There is a certain amount of whimsy in the way this book is written which makes it unique in my experience and highly enjoyable.
Original plot too.

2.25 ⭐️

I realize that I have now read 2 books (consecutively) with Lizzy having broken a leg. What a weird coincidence. Anyway I picked up this book as I have more or less liked this authors P&P variations. But I am sad to say this did not live up to those expectations. The premise was fine - Elizabeth is attacked by a crazed Anne DeBourgh and is injured almost fatally and instead of a Hunsford proposal, we have a Hunsford eavesdropping situation with the same result. A lot of time was spent on telling us how this situation could compromise Elizabeth, and in consequence Jane who came to nurse her. The saving grace is that we actually see interactions between Darcy and Elizabeth.

Very interesting. The storyline is well developed. The author does go down some conversational paths that became quite involved and that is my reasoning for only 4 stars. Overall, I enjoyed it and highly recommend.

Emotional

A dark and emotional variation inspired by Jane Austen’s classic novel Pride and Prejudice by Wade H. I liked it.

I really liked The propriety failure by Wade H Man but I could not finish Mine, Mine, Mine! The plot is highly improbable. I rapidly lost interest. The numerous typos didn't help.

I loved it!

Warning: Meant for mature audiences. Contains scenes that would scandalize the ton. Readers of a delicate constitution are advised to keep their fans and vinaigrettes close at hand. Includes scenes of violence and death.

It was so enticing that I couldn’t put it down, this book grabbed my interest from the very first page. I couldn’t put it down, I had to know what happened next. The story is well written with a very good storyline. You will see the most beloved characters in a whole new way. This is a Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice variation. This is part of the Pride and Prejudice Variations series. Anne de Bourgh and Elizabeth Bennet turn up missing from Rosings at the same time, triggering a search for the missing ladies and a shocking revelation. So with all that and more this story pulls you in and holds you tight. It’s a must read. I highly recommend to everyone.

unique detour

I found this story used some unique twists that I have not seen before in other variations, which I applaud. Many of the variations seem to blend together and do not make their mark. The change in the storyline by the proposed “detour” in this variation felt quite engaging and kept me unable to guess what would happen next. It was given 4 stars due to the often thick complicated dialogue which this author often chooses. These discussions at times slow things down in a way that is very frustrating to read. However I did enjoy the story very much over all.

The start of this book is heartbreaking but there's also some humor thrown in. I did find myself thinking that many of the characters behaved OOC but it worked within the context of the story so I didn't mind too much. There were quite a few OC's and they were some of my favorite characters in the book. The writing was good and the pacing was great. The ending was super satisfying and I enjoyed how it all tied together in the end.

4.5 rounded up

A very entertaining novel, written with wit, but with a few too many editing errors to be awarded a 5. The humour of the prose alleviates the angst of a seriously injured Lizzy. The focus is on Jane and Lizzy and their beaus. The other Bennets play a minimal role, as do the Collins, while new characters are introduced to deal with the altered circumstances.

High drama

Another excellent tale from Mr Mann. A life threatening accident—or not accident—changes the course of Elizabeth Bennet and all those around her. The scene of Anne de Bourgh’s will was masterfully done and full of surprises.

Loved it!

One of the best variations I’ve read! Good, original storyline and full of humor. I thought it might be a bit too angsty but not at all. I wanted to leave a review halfway through the story, it was that good.

Very Moving!

I truly enjoyed this moving and complex story! It's heartbreaking in some ways, deeply thoughtful and always so humorous as to completely eliminate the possibility of producing melancholy in a reader.

Intensely imaginative

Be prepared for a wild ride as we leave canon just before the Hunsford proposal and terrible violence turns Elizabeth's life into a nightmare. Many twists and turns in a highly imaginative plot where Elizabeth and Jane triumph in the end. A great read!

Mine, Mine, Mine!

A truly unique variation. An irate Anne, A cliff and no where to go.
Enjoyed Pirate Darcy and Angry Jane. Also enjoyed Jane's backbone... Stands up to her parents and did not marry Bingley.
Anne's will is fantastic!

Loved it!

What an excellent book! I enjoyed every aspect of it and it kept me turning the pages without a lot of angst. All of the new characters played pivotal roles and the "old" characters developed in wonderfully new ways. I very much recommend this book!

Outstanding, compelling reinvention

I could not put this down. What an original remake of Pride and Prejudice. The characters retained their strength without artificial, sentimental circumstances. Characters and the solutions to problems were original and true to character

Mine, Mine, Mine

A fairly different variation of P&P. I was pleased the "death" was not at all gory. I was unsure that Elizabeth would survive and yet the story was riveting.
I enjoyed the new young characters which pushed the story along nicely.

This book started well, had a great premise, but at about 2/3 of the way in, it started feeling repetitive, and I ended up skimming the last of the book to just get through it. Such a bummer since I have liked other books by this author, but this one didn't do it for me.

Very well told and interesting story. There is much more depth than many other JAFF. I was surprised by the quality of this work.
